To be fair to all, Peter Obi and Osibanjo had a fair contest. Who came out tops will remain a matter of debate.

But for me, the highlight of the debate is the logical positions of Obi and Osibanjo on corruption.

Now I know there are millions of entrepreneurs here, and in using Obi's analogy of a shop, if you had a shop, and it got attacked by thieves, would rather open the shop and keep making money while putting in measures to stop further attacks, or would you close shop and forget about losing customers and go after the thieves?

Personally I do not think that closing shop to pursue criminals is the best of approaches but of course I know people might think otherwise.

So what would be your approach if you had a shop attacked by thieves?

if u continue to remain in d shop and not chase d thieves one day u will come and find an empty shop

a little injury at knee can wen not treated and left alone may lead to amputation

a farmer who notice a sign of symptoms of a disease in one plant n overlooks it will one day lose its farm to d disease

a shepherd with his flocks who was attacked by a predator and do not chase after it n kill it one day will lose his flocks to d predator

the problem of pdp is dat they always don't look at future implications n dat wat brot us into dis menace

if u know u know

if u don't know, one way or the other, you have to find a solution to the waste before you continue business!

f**k all the politics!

Buhari or Atiku, all na same but osibanjo was ryt there!

You cannot close shop because of thieves
Business itself is a risk

Sometimes you make profits that are more than the risk taken
Buhari has practically shut down the economy with the excuse of fighting a one sided imaginary corruption.

There will be no shops eventually when the inventory is hourly looted by the thieves.

How do you make profit when the thieves are there to loot your inventory 24hrs? supporter of stealing is not corruption

Stop contradicting yourself and Obi. Obi never gave any measures to combat the thieves. That was why everyone laughed at his submission yesterday. You can't keep open your shops for looters while your inventory is stolen 24hrs , eventually there will be no shops one day

the thieves cannot be there always to steal from your shop

How about employing security operatives to guide your shop, in this case employ forensic experts .

The question remains how do you close shop to run after thieves when there is a lot of money to be made in solving day to day economic problems? Obi made a valid point there and osibanjo merely replied in the most childish manner, he should have just kept quiet.

Running a business or economy is not same with studying law.

Are the looters not there in Nigeria to steal every day? Supporter of stealing is not corruption. You and Obi should hide your face in shame, because you are planning to take us back where stealing is not corruption

how can the looters be there every day when you are the ones in power controlling the economic affairs of the country ?
Does that not expose incompetency?

These people have nothing to offer they have only come to occupy space.

Shut up stop supporting impunity. Your Obi and PDP goofed by showing sympathy for the looters in a National Tv debate. Everyone is aware now that PDP is an avenue for looters

comprehension is a big problem for Nigerians.

obi's submission is. . . continue business irregardless of thieves!

osibanjo says. . .we cannot ignore the thieves, something must be done about them

the economy didn't shutdown due to buhari corruption campaign!

why are you all making it seem as if he shutdown the economy due to thieves?

let's be objective!

lets face it buhari started with a whole lot of badluck on his side but he was slow and sluggish in decisions and his carefully selected board were not so creative afterall.
this does not in any way exonerate the opposition which is the same of the same APC of the initial PDP.

lets separate governance from politics. in terms of the former, osibanjo was ryt!

I blame our Educational sector !its lost it totally!

No wise man will lock shop totally cos u will end up losing at both ends!

You become Hungry and u catch no one...

Wisdom tells you to bring up new ideas that will beat the Criminals st the same time business continues!

For Example look at the Nigerian Entertainment! Despite the piration of works and all dt, did they stop movies and singing songs? No! Many of them have acquired means to limit theft of their properties!
That's how it should be!

We are in a Jet age and so there are lots of trainings and all dt that will put u ahead of the Criminals

You guys are misinterpreting Osibanjo. What he meant was Apc government didn't close the shop instead they installed/implemented security measures to watch over the shop ( TSA, BVN).
JAMB remitted only N50million naira for good seven years 2010-2016. In 2017 only, JAMB remitted N7.8bn

JAMB, Customs, Immigration, FIRS have all had 100% increase in revenue in the last 3 years. Their shops have not closed instead boomerang.

Pdp shop was looted for good 16 years without considering of doing something about it. Nigerians got tired of their clueness and kicked them out of the shop for a good manager

Typical of BMC miscreants always resorting to insults in place of superior arguments.

Is it not hypocrisy to be supporting a party that has former members of PDP that were active either as governors or house members for the 16years rule?

Typical of Atiku zombies to run away from the issues surrounding how their failed party led us to a near abyss from their 16 years of lootocratic government.

Osinbajo and Buhari are a pair. The reason why you have a president and a vice and other functional agencies is so that business would continue irrespective of the absence of any of them.

You cannot keep pouring water into a leaking basket (economy) When will the basket ever fill up?

The wise thing to do is locate the leakages while pouring the water and start blocking them. After all its still the same water that reveals where the leakages are. WATER IN THIS CONTEST IS OUR FINANCES AS A NATION.

Buhari has largely blocked a lot of leakages while still keeping the shop open.

Obi was terribly wrong and off point which is a trademark of PDP when it comes to spinning truth and turning it on its head.

He claimed Buhari closed shop to chase after looters and that is totally a lie. If he did close shop then no ministry bringing revenue to the nation would be functional but we can see all of them more functional than ever with record breaking revenues coming from them.

Stop being a PDP liar and supporter of lie loaded propaganda and for once use that thing in that coconut on your neck

buhari closed shop to chase thieves which is why he made Nigeria the head quarter of poverty and hunger.
Osibanjo cannot stand obi when it comes to economy and finance.his performance in anambra state have a lot to speak for him.

If it is business I will advise buhari to close shop and tend to his cattles in daura.

if dangote and the rest close shop just to chase thieves do you think their businesses will grow every year?

Nigeria economy has grown from bad to worse under buhari and even yesterday he told the governors to prepare for more hardship, the dullard and cattle rearer have done irreparable damage to the Nigeria economy.

He has not only closed shop
He has sent away all the customers he has
He has made Nigeria the head quarter of poverty.

Osibanjo's comment is idiotic to say the least.

So as a businessman, your main priority is protecting your few inventory from thieves rather than plotting ways to grow your businesses year on year.

His statement shows why he would never do well in business and why Nigeria is stuck in this rot. Show me any business man that values the inventory in this shop to securing new contacts and growing his business. Infact for most Igbo men, the shop is merely for sampling. The main thing is growing contacts and turning over. Shops can get burnt down and the man would still rise again.

What is the biggest corruption fight Nigeria had ever become embroiled in? PDP? Of course not. It was repatriating Abacha's loot. This was kickstarted by Obasanjo and the economy didn't go into hibernation because of all that despite funds being repatriated all that while.
No offence to all the figures Buhari's government tossed about as recovered proceeds from tackling corruption, but using this as an excuse for the economic standstill when the likes of Tinubu, Gandollar, Sylva and co still roam free is boring. If the funds are not benefitting Nigerians, it's as good as non-existent.

To an Igbo man, yes. Our motivation for honest living are the stories of our fathers before us, who by sheer determination, shrugged off all obstacles to get there cool
That's why even people who don't own shops prosper still until they can afford theirs. A shop is just a site. The business are the buyers

OP, if you have common sense you wouldn't be asking this question. It is only a thief who made his wealth by fraudulent means that won't close his shop to pursue a thief that stole from him. If you worked hard for your wealth, you won't allow somebody to steal from you and get away with it. If you are a christian, you should know the parable of the lost sheep. Peter Obi is a thief who stole so much from the government when he was governor, that is why he could give such an absurd analogy.
