Before the Op answers your questions, 1million naira is about 3000 dollars and it is insufficient for Canada trip,if you are desperate to leave Nigeria, look for a country probably within Africa where you can grow that money via small business and from there other options will open up for you
thanks for the advice but another shithole country in this continent? I rather be in Nigeria. Please isn't a million naira enough to get me out of this country? Not even Canada or USA but a European country that is welcoming to immigrants? If a million naira isn't enough I believe 1.5 million would be enough. Thanks for your advice again and I await your response

Lol at shithole continent, Botswana, Seychelles, Mauritius and Rwanda are good places for investors, if you put on your thinking cap.

1million to 1.5 million Naira is not enough for Western European countries, you are a school certificate holder with no skills, with the way European Union are tightening their borders now and the Berlin Wall mounted by the US since the beginning of this year, Hmmmm, you might need to consult higher celestial forces with your profile to qualify for a western visa, but if you choose to remain in the headquarters of poverty to hustle, well, I wish you good luck.

My initial suggestions was based on your profile, all the requirements for a western visa like good home ties, job, family / marriage/ kids / house/ degree etc you don't have, so in view of that securing western visas is like a camel passing through the eyes of a needle, but who knows, maybe with prayers since Nigerians pray alot or consulting ifa, amadioha, Sango,
Babalawo, okija shrine or voodoo priest can help you to get the visa shocked

thank you so much bro. God bless you for your blunt and straight answers. But bro there have been some people that traveled out of naija without knowing a soul and made it ooo. There were some that weren't even literate that made it oo, yes the first few years could be very hard but with determination and perseverance they made it. Bro I would try to make this cash on me 1.5 million before June next year and I would give it a try to leave Nigeria.

Interresting story.
May I ask you why you gave up on your dream of playing football?
You could have started first in an African or even Nigerian local league and if you were that good you may have ended up somewhere.

Good luck with your next life adventure.

Why not go back to school. unless u want to be duped by these so-called agents with ur desperation to travel. make good use of ur money by going to school since u have a secondary school certificate. or u can try securing an admission into a foreign university.

I see a lot of people have already discussed your issue here. I am not too familiar with other countries but the for Canada, $3000 will not be sufficient. Like someone mentioned, other African countries may be your best bet for now.

At the time we applied, my mum was still in her 40s. We used the Federal skilled worker route. We actually applied in 2007. !0 million
naira which is just below CAD$40k may be sufficient but it depends on the province you are moving too. Note, the most expensive province in Canada is British Columbia and the most expensive city in Canada is Vancouver.
ONNYX:

I am nudging 50 (in about 3 years time). I have been considering relocating to Canada for a few weeks now. A little research revealed that I would most likely not be qualified for the express entry format.

How did your mum do it? Under which immigration option?

And I would like to relocate the whole family.

If I could aggregate the sum of 10 Million Naira, would it cover expenses for at least 1 year while we (hubby and wife) look for some earning route?

I have a friend in Lagos who is also a footballer. He also harbors your kind of dreams too. Now in 2014, he approached me to assist him go abroad for football, he is actually a very good player. We hustled in Lagos together some years before that, and i promised him, if God's blesses me, i would assist him. So when i landed my Job in Nigeria, i offered to assist him. He brought me an offer from a club in india for him. I did my own investigation and found out the offer was genuine because i have been to india before. I provided the money for VISA, Ticket, initial accommodation and pocket money for him, totaling almost 900k. After securing the visa, an agent approached him and told him of an offer in Spain. I warned him not to take it, but he told me he trusted the friend. So he diverted the rest of the money i gave him to the spain deal, and sure enough, he was duped. After that, i almost made up my mind not to to assist him again. But about 3 months ago he approached me with another deal for a club in Azerbaijan, and i made him understand this will be the last help i would render him, but i was wise this time and gave him only 50k. Because since 2014 till date i have assisted him with over 1.2 million naira. We are still waiting for the Visa to be issued for Azerbaijan after 2 months he applied. I dont want to assume he has been duped again but we will see. My point is this, there are a lot of fake agents out there. You have to be very careful. I can't advise you on what to do with 2 million, but what ever you do with it, make sure it is profitable. For example, football is way bigger in South Africa and Egypt compared to Canada. That's why i was going along with the people that suggested you try Africa.

I love your truthful, open, willing to learn attitude, i know that feeling of (there is nothing left for me here) i also advice you try to hustle to up the amount a little higher and try overseas, your age is kind of far off to be considered for a lot of Bsc scholarships but you can google and still find out, try countries like Dubai, Cyprus, Japan, China, Ukraine, Germany and Rwanda for either cheap schooling, work visa, or business hustle, don't enter illegally you would end up wasting more precious years, and only use verified open agents not one man biz, but if all is said and done and you don't find a way through, move on here in 9ja, enroll in Noun and hustle your way, and may God bless your dreams
