He was injured shortly after he joined...

You think another player wasn't brought in to fill in the void?

Simeon was good enough to be noticed by Klopp...His lack of game time at Levante isn't the end for him .
Iheanacho was once good enough to be noticed by Pellegrinni.... Even to play under Pep, but how far now?

Kayode was also good enough for Pep's Manchester City at some point, now, he's selling ice cream in Ukraine grin

See, the issue with most Nigerian footballers is that they have no real passion for football. Their only passion is for the money from football, they are like civil servants who work to get paid, not to make any solid impact in their chosen careers.

Now, you can say some are different, but we are yet to see the different ones. Somehow, all the great potential settles into mediocrity undecided

Awards are based on overall performance in a year not necessarily who is the better player.

messi was better than all this year apart from naldo
The truth is that we have commonized Messi. If it was sAlah who scored hattrick u will see noise but if it is Messi we will be like score extra 2.today he contributed all 5 barca goals yet he might be 17 next year ballondor for not winning ucl

Seria b is actually a less physical and intense league compared to the Scottish league but it's of a higher quality. Same as how LA Liga is less physical and intense but of better quality as compared to the premiership.

Sia1 didnt really help him, Solo was super talented and Sia1 explored it. His talent took him to the height he attained, not Sia1. He made the youth teams on merit and he delivered each time he was there. The only time Sia1 invited him bkus he was his boy, the media went berserk. Then Solo was with Aelsund of Norway.

There are some shits that went down, which I wouldn't wanna discuss here, buh, trust me, Solo would have been a bigger player. He had the talent and was always a delight to watch.

Solomon Okoronkwo was part of the Eguavoen's boys to the 2003 U17 WC in Norway. That class had Mikel Obi, Chinedu Ogbuke, Ezekiel Bala, Isaac Promise, Emmanuel Sarki amongst others.Solomon's performance at that U17 level earned him a look in by some foreign clubs. We was with Gabros International FC until 2005 when he went to Hertha Berlin. Solomon Okoronkwo was part of the Siasia's 2005 U20 but not a starter. John Owoeri and David Abuo were the first team wingers.
Just like most other former youth internationals Solomon's career did not progress well. Solomon was again also part of Siasia's Olympics team. Whether he merited it or not is not an issue here. But he was a confirmed Siasia's boy. When Siasia was made coach in 2011, again he invited Solomon Okoronkwo, Chibuzor Okonkwo and Isaac Promise (3 of His boys). This led to an outcry by the press. This trio were not national team materials and so the outcry was justifiable.

Solomon was Talented no doubt. But his career did not progress well and he should remain grateful to Siasia for the continued faith in him which made him feature for Nigeria at all the age grade levels: U17, U20, U23 and Super Eagles.

Shuaibu Amodu handed Solo his first senior national team call up, not Sia1. This was in 2008 when he was balling for Hertha BSC in the Bundesliga.

99% of Nigerian players are only useful to teams they are not part of, but once they are part of a team, they are useless.

Bros, we have told the hypers time without number on thus thread. Most of our Naija players are just happy to be in onyibo land and slay on social media. Even iwobi's performances recently has tapered down. Got me thinking about if there's a curse on our players.

In addition, Rohr (aka dinosaur aka football relic) is chiefly responsible. You see, most of our players are assured that they will remain in that team irrespective of performance. E.g. Nacho, Balogun, Idowu et all, so they are lax because come rain or sunshine, they will be included in any final list.

If our boys carry this yeye form to AFCON, they will bite the dust well well....in fact, we will look back to the WC in Russia and see it as an unprecedented performance.

Roma striker Sadiq Umar has confirmed that a loan move to Serie B side Perugia is on the cards after terminating his stay with Scottish side Rangers where he was suppose to spend the entire season on loan.

Sadiq’s contract was terminated last week but contrary to what was widely reported, the lanky forward and Roma decided to end the loan deal and not Rangers as claimed by several reports.

” It was a decision between myself and Roma. We informed Rangers about it and they accepted. So simply put collectively myself and Roma decided to end the loan and not Rangers. They never asked me to leave, not at any time”, Sadiq told Owngoalnigeria.com.

On his relationship with coach of the team Steven Gerrard, Sadiq said they had a normal relationship like he has with other players although he said the man management style of the former Liverpool legend is quite different from what he is used to.

” Gerrard is a good coach no doubt and my relationship with him is very normal. We didn’t talk that much on where I need to improve in my game during my time there. Something which is different from the other coaches I’ve worked with. I hear about myself more from his interviews than him speaking with me directly.

” It was a very steep learning curve for me and it did had an effect on my confidence level. The pressure to do well when I get the chance to play affected me negatively. It’s unfortunate that I couldn’t show the fans what am all about “, Sadiq remarked.

Back at Roma and with reports swirling around on a loan switch to Perugia, he refuse to deny he could join the Serie B side but stressed that he is still weighing his options as getting sufficient game time will be the determine where he ends up.

” Perugia? Maybe I will play there next season. For now am also studying other proposals but the chance to play and regain my confidence will be the main thing in picking my next club”, he concluded.

Officially, Omeruo was 16 in 2009.

He just entered UNIJOS at that time.

The tournament was in the summer or 2009 and as you know Omeruo was born in October, so he was during the tournament 15.

Anytime l put question marks on the ages of Nigerian origin players born in Nigeria. People get very angry, emotive and saying I'm biased and a HATER of Nigerian players.

I find this very comical because we all know age cheating is Ingrained in our culture. But we get here and DENY and make noise like it's all lies.

O don think the issue is quality.

It is a matter of preference.

La Liga is more technical it not as fast and physical as the EPL.

Which is better quality is simply a matter of what in your opinion is quality.

For the record, Pep had nothing to do with Kayode's signing. The owners of Man city also own Girona and they signed Kayode in the hope that he'd make it in Girona.
He hit form immediately he joined Shaktar until the injury set in...

I don't deny that most Nigerian players are more interested in the money than the game, but that's not applicable to all of them..sometimes,things just don't go well according to plan ..Sh*t happens...

You have similar characteristics with Portuguese and Spanish 2nd tier league and thier B teams.

The treat players like cattle at that level some of them are not even getting up to €3k a month that's shocking.

But are hoping to move on that's why a lot of Nigerian players if they are not getting real first team exposure go to Turkey.

I came across a comment concerning the recent VP debate and funny enough people said he was derailing the thread. This is the problem with Nigeria, apathy towards anything concerning politics. How is a discussion about the future of the nation as a whole not welcomed in a thread that is concerned predominantly with the growth of the super Eagles? Abi development of sports in Nigeria is now under private investors and not government again? When the US held her own elections, virtually every US forum I knew then even the health forums talked so much about the elections that even though I wasn't going to vote I knew who unwanted to win, but here we shy away from all such conversations and we wonder why our nation is falling apart. I applaud Chriskels for bringing up that discussion and with the newxt few months leading up to the election I think we should discuss more about the elections and not shy away from the topic
