I hope this will encourage someone:

22nd Sept - Submitted online application
3rd October - Invited for medical
15th October - Did medical at IOM Abuja
21st October - Medical Passed
Waited to 6 weeks. One of the longest waiting time of my life
29th November - Biometric correspondence letter
30th November - Original Passport request
3rd December - Submitted passport at VFS Abuja
18th December - Correspondence letter
19th December - Passport ready for collection

Document Submitted
Apart from the normal compulsory document, i also submitted:
- Proof of financial support: 9.2m, self sponsor, 4 months
- My pension scheme financial contribution for 6 months
- Letter of Introduction from the company i work with stating that i work with them and have worked for certain number of years. The letter didn't state that i was going to school.
- Statement of purpose: I hadn't joined nairaland before i submitted my application. So, my SOP was purely from my own thoughts. It was a 1 and half page SOP. I just stated why i wanted to study in canada and why i wanted to study Electrical and Computer engineering. Last year, I was denied visa because of insufficient fund. This year, i applied to another school with a lower tuition fees. I also stated it in my SOP why i was moving from school A to school B and why i believe that i could get better quality of education in school B. Seriously, I don't believe in exchanging SOP's from one person to another. Before you know it, we are all writing similar thing and grammar to VO's. Remember plagiarism is not tolerated over there. Just sit down and get your unique SOP. Give me the guidline and let me develop it myself. Well, this is purely my idea. i stand to be corrected
- Landed Property: Well, i bought one of those village lands in Abuja without CofO. I just attached the letter of agreement from the village chief.

Document not submitted
- Police report
- Tuition fee receipt. I haven't paid tuition fees yet

Finally, Pray, pray and pray. Then, crown it with thanksgiving. We can't thank Him enough but we can thank Him some more. For me, this is the most important thing.

I hope this helps.

Congratulations to you

Did I hear you say western union? Hell no.
:
Don't even think about it twice just walk straight to your bank and do the payment. (highest they will charge you 15k for transfer charges cause they will have to buy $US or CAD from CBN)

Bless you

Go with your admission letter, int.passport, degree certificate, and the transfer details of what you got from your school eg flywire. Those are the stuff they will send to CBN before they could release dollar for you.

You can, the debit master card must be a domiciliary account. I think there are limits you can transfer with your normal debit master card and the account must be a Tier 1 account.
Long story short... it's always advisable you go through your bank in case something happens in future like a refund and all, you go fit know where to run to with the proof (telex copy).

Long Post Alert!

Hi guys! I’m super excited to make this post. I came across this forum when I was about to submit my application and I have been a silent reader. Sincerely speaking, all the information I gathered from page one of this thread and from individuals’ comments aided me in putting together my application documents.

I’m a graduate of Petroleum Engineering (MSc & BSc). I was offered admission to do an MSc in Mining Engineering programme (Petroleum Geostatistics concentration) at the University of Alberta, beginning January 7, 2019.

Here is my application timeline:

November 22 - Submitted my application (paper route), with upfront medicals.
November 23 - Linked my application to my online account
December 5 - Medical exam passed.
December 6 - Received correspondence letter for biometrics validity (from Nairobi).
December 6 - Eligibility review began
December 21 - Received another correspondence letter for biometrics validity (from Lagos).
December 24 - My application was approved.

Document submitted

Academic Documents:
• Acceptance letter from the University of Alberta.
• Receipts of payment for official transcripts processing, to meet admission offer conditions.
• MSc/BSc academic transcripts and degree certificates
• West African Examination Council (WAEC) certificate

Proof of Financial Support:
• Funding letter from the University of Alberta (indicating CAD1,750/month stipend plus full tuition cover). This was my only proof of financial support.

Other Documents:
• All the required CIC Application forms.
• Police character certificate
• Upfront medical form
• Data page of International passport and page showing travel history.
• NYSC certificate
• Birth certificate
• Certificate of Origin
• Mother and siblings’ birth certificates
• Resume
• Internship completion certificate
• Letter of Introduction from the lecturer I work with (as a Graduate Assistant).
• Letter of Introduction from my HOD/MSc Thesis Supervisor.

Above all, I give all thanks, praise and glory to the Almighty God for His immense grace and favour. For all TRV hopefuls and everyone reading this post, may God speedily grant to you unmerited favour in Jesus Mighty Name…

Happy Holidays!

Good evening NL

I finally got my GCMS notes

In my GCMS note the London visa office stated that :

"Applicant to study at the University of Winnipeg from 2019/02/27 - 2020/05/15 has only $29,000 CAD ( SOA - with closing balance of 8.3million) UNCLE'S MONEY which will not be enough for the first year tuition & expenses.

I have already deposited $13,658 from my first year tuition fees which is 21,500 but discovered that i omited the part payment receip paid via flywire to the University of Winnipeg .

The $13,658 did not reflect in my GCMS note though it was stated in the application form I filled online that I have already deposited $13,658

My application status says OPEN : please what can I do before the Final Decision on my application my resumption is February 27.
