Name the gras or Bleep off. Why is enugu not among the cities economically viable. Why? Because you can’t deceive everyone. You can only deceive your fellow yeebos in enugu

Thanks for your advice. I will not rush. I am in the research phase and will carry out due diligence.

I'd stayed briefly in Ibadan when I was younger. Well, since you asked I'd give you my honest observations, nothing personal. It was dirty, a bit rough, political thuggery was rampant, slight traffic, water shortage during dry season, rampant electricity outage, troublesome neighbours and some funny body odour, especially in the cabs. Lol. The city is very large yet there are no major industries or work except transportation, and trading. Though less aggressive than Lagos, the atmosphere was like Lagos. I don't want a place like Lagos. Only Bodija and Bashorun areas were my favourites. But it's possible things have changed now as I've not been for years.

Firstly, your analysis of Ibadan is very parochial, primitive & uncivilized. There is 95% possibility that you are not serious moving out of Lagos or 98% bad sense of judgement & reasoning which will finally affect you wherever you go.

My advice for those comparing Ibadan and Enugu is to stop dissipating energy on an incomparable entities. They should allow the Ibos to continue on a journey of self illusion .

No industries yet Cocacola which relocated from Ibadan to Asejire (Osun) is still supporting businesses at Ibadan. The capacity of industries on Ibadan end of Lagos / Ibadan express way alone is more than the combined capacity of industries in those states mentioned. The British American Tobacco, Premier Feeds ( Top feeds), Eagle Flour Mills, Ajanla Farms, Procter & Gamble, Seven Up and lot of others in that axis.

That's 180k for three bedroom. Are you sure you are not living in a village there. I live in abakaliki and pay 135k for a self contain.

My sister lives in Enugu, and she told me house rent is quite expensive in Enugu and I agree with her. How come you are paying such cheap rate in Enugu?

Abakaliki 135k self con?
What are the facilities there?

Don't mind that guy o. House rents are expensive in South East states especially Enugu, Owerri, and surprisingly, Abakaliki. Except you want to live in interior villages, you can never find a self con for 100k in enugu. Just budget from 180k and above for self con in enugu. Even here in abakaliki, there are some self con that go as high as 200k.

200k in Abakiliki?
What are the facilities there biko?

The normal facilities you find in a self con o. There are even places where people pay 150k. House rent in places like Enugu, Owerri and Abakaliki is expensive o. But you can find cheap rent in Onitsha and Aba.

I'm planning to even leave this town after all with 150k, I can get a decent flat in places like ibadan.

Osun State holds a lot of economic prospects.
You can relocate to Oshogbo, Ilesha and/or Ile-Ife.
You can start commercial farming at Ilesha and be supplying Oshogbo, Akure and Ado-Ekiti with fresh tomatoes/Plantains.

spiralwedge:

Coincidentally I'm visiting Ilesha for an event by month end. It will be my 2nd time there when I visit.
What are income generating prospects there?

Enugu houses the biggest Tech hub in the entire south region of Nigeria (Genesys tech hub....you Can search on google) which takes in billions of naira annually, they give out over $50000 worth of funding yearly to startups with brilliant tech ideas. I have more than 20 friends who established themselves in the tech industry of enugu, within a year of inception they've all been doing pretty good.
The fish farm would be great but first, you'd have to lobby the different clubs, restaurants and bars who already have suppliers (these guys consume a lot, so it would be really profitable) or...in the worst case scenario, you'd just start your own restaurant /bar that would consume your fish products but it may not be all rosy, because of strong customer loyalty to other restaurants/bars. You'd have to find a way of attracting them to your outlet(s).

Waawu, would check it out.

In my quest online, i found this

1. Ibadan: Life is relatively cheap in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state. Transport fares in Ibadan range from N20 to N150. This price can be beaten down, depending on the bargaining power of the passenger. Even motorcyclists fares range from N30 to – depends on where you're going to.

2. Lagos: If you're not well boxed up, don't step into Lagos ''Danfo'' (the name for the commercial bus), else you may be stranded and embarrassed. Lagos transport fares are scary. What you spend on transport fares in Lagos in a day is enough to cater for feeding in some cities, and travel to neighbouring communities. The lowest transport fare in Lagos is N50, and that's for the shortest imaginable distance. Especially during fuel scarcity, transport fares in Lagos hit the roof. Some people spend more than half of their income on transport fares in Lagos. Transports fare in Lagos is as high as N300, even more. Tricycles charge from N50 to N100. Motorcycles charge as high as N2,500 for far distance. Terrible traffic is also one of the frustrations with Lagos transportation.

3. Osogbo: A capital city that is as cheap as Osogbo is not so many in Nigeria. Life is very affordable in the Osun state capital. The popular public transport in the city known as 'Korope' range from N30 per boarding. Motorcycles rates is similar to that of ''Korope''. It ranges from N30 to N50.

4. Akure: Akure, the capital city of Ondo state is also an affordable city with cheap transport fares. The least transport fare to major parts of the city is pegged at N50, while the highest is N70.

5. Owerri: Life is expensive in Owerri, the capital of Imo state. The city is divided into three – North, West and Municipal. Municipal is the core government area. 'Tricycle', otherwise known as 'Keke maruwa' is mostly used for commercial transportation in Owerri Municipal. Motorcycles operate in North and West. The least transport fare is N50 for any drop, while the highest is N70.

6. Abuja: Life is expensive in Abuja. The commercial transport fares in some remote parts is at N150 at the least. A taxi drop in the nation's capital is charged at N500 or more.

7. Port Harcourt: Life is expensive in Port Harcourt. With not much difference from Abuja in transport fares. Commercial transportation in the town is around N100 to N150, and depends on your destination.

8. Kaduna: With life relatively cheap in Kaduna, it goes same with transport fares. The least transport fare in Kaduna is N50. In most cases where you don't have up to such amount, you can bargain to N40. The highest is N100.

9. Abeokuta: Life is at an average affordability in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital. The cheapest transport fare in Abeokuta is N50.

10. Ilorin: With life affordable in Ilorin, the least transport fare is N50, while the highest is N150, and still depends on your destination. Ilorin can be likened to Ibadan in terms of cost of transportation and food items.

11. Ebonyi: The least fare is N50, highest is N100. But because of fuel issues, it rose to N150 to some parts of the state. Motorcycle rates in Ebonyi range from N50 to N100.

You can spend 1k in transportation in Ibadan. Ask old. Nobody collects 30naira Biko

I'm tired of Lagos. Can anyone suggest a city or town in Nigeria one can move to to start all over again? Or even neighbouring countries?

Has anyone done that? Has anyone moved away from the hustling and buzzling of Lagos and maybe Ogun, to another part of the country where he/she doesn't know anyone to stay with, rent an accommodation, and find something doing to bring in income?

I want a laid-back, cheap, secured and peaceful place.

Please share. Will love to learn from you.

I suggest Ilorin, Kwara State. It fits in your criteria.

Thanks. You have really motivated me. Will open my ears and shine my eyes very well when I am there.

Resener13, sherylbakky, I don't like Ibadan. Unless maybe I try suburbs.

Drmikeadams, heard Uyo is VERY expensive. Can only go that far if I'm assured of an income generating business or engagement.

Aleora, Fonzie2u, been to Akure twice on official visits and didn't get to move out on my own. I loved it. I still remember we stayed in an hotel in Alagbaka and the second time in Òke-Jebu. 2 lovely serene places. But I really don't know much about the city. I remember we passed a busy place/market and we were told it's called Ọjà Ọba.
What are the entrepreneural prospects and accommodation rates? Room/self contained for a start or a mini flat?

Aleora, can I whatsapp on your biz line?

Izuogu1, I will have to visit Enugu first. The closest I've been was Asaba, though I love Asaba but it's too dry commercially. Looks like a civil servants city.

Haryoureendey4, thanks but from what I read and heard on the media and people, Kano can be very volatile. I was told it always appear peaceful but when violence sparks it is usually unannounced. Kano and any where else in the core North are No No please.

In all North there are always location/region where non native s are concentrated with less external influence. for example in kano sabongari / no man's land you go think you are in the South plus it larger than some capitals in some states in everything.
