Wow!!!....That means I'm late for January intakes then. And please how does the paytostudy works like how do I go about it if I'm to make the payment by January?....Thanks so much for your quick reply.

https://paytostudy.com/

Its pretty straightforward.

This site gives you an estimated amount in dollars with your details. This is valid for 48 hours , you are meant to take this proof to the bank for payment with your offer letter and passport page.

Cos of the festive period, the earliest the school will be able to issue a payment confirmation will be 2nd week of January, 2019.
You can still apply for your visa if you have the funds and documentation covered then.

But speak to your agent to contact your university to put a word in for you with the embassy.

I will provide same info if you DM but will charge for inconveniences ..lol

I wouldn't mind so long it's reasonable however, I don't really know how to DM because I'm new on here that was why I requested on how to get to you privately in a more convenient platform.

Masters program is intense and stressful!

Shortest semester is september to Jan; You have an average of 10 weeks lecture this includes personal or group courseworks and examinations.

Studying IT related courses includes a lot of self development , research and skill acquisition i.e your lecturers won't cover much in class, majority of workload will fall on you.
Infact on each module/subject on your course/ program, the university advises at least 40 hours of self-study each week.

****

All I've mentioned is from my experience during undergraduate and postgraduate education in the UK.

In short, studying abroad teaches you time management.

You have at least 20 hours of classes every week , minimum of 30 hours of self study and 20 hours of part-time / casual work. All these are achievable if you are diligent to your pursuit.

All the locations have reduced rent and living expense as compared to Dublin. However, you need to weigh out your options yourself... Cork is definitely more expensive than the other 2 and its a research institution so your workload may be more than Griffith and DKIT.

But it all boils down to which one will give you the opportunity for a high paying permanent career-focused job.

Wishing you success.

Hi Guys

I am sharing this to encourage someone.

About 15 months ago, I took the brave decision to travel abroad for better opportunities. Brave because I had a decent job as per naija standards but I was pretty stagnant and making no genuine progress in my career. I considered several countries but eventually settled for Ireland as it was less competitive than other countries and they offered graduates a genuine chance to get a job after graduation. I barely put enough money together for visa application, flights and 50% of the tuition. I came to study a Masters in Computing(Data Analytics) at DIT, I did not know much about the school but the deciding factor in picking it was that they allowed a 50% down payment of tuition for registration.

It was a very intense period while I studied, I was lucky to be get a part time job almost immediately after I arrived and it was extremely difficult juggling this with full time study especially as the masters degree was extremely packed. I did not need any extra motivation to dedicate my whole being to studying, this often meant I had to hang around all night in Starbucks, completing assignments and studying.

Now to the testimony, about 2 months ago I graduated and I actually had a job offer as an Analytics Consultant in a top Consulting Firm here in Dublin before I graduated. Now this is nothing but God's grace as I know for a fact it is not easy. On accepting the Job offer, the company wasted no time in preparing a critical skills work permit application(equivalent of green card) on my behalf which got approved about two weeks ago.

I used nairaland a lot when researching study destinations and putting together my visa papers so feel free to reach out to me if you require any information.
wow that's great.

My fear with Ireland has been the policy of first considering citizens for a job before immigrants.
It seems you did exceptionally well, did you finish your masters with a distinction? Did you get professional certificates.

the reason I ask is because I am also interested in IT, but In Network security/Info sec. I have a little work experience in the role and own a couple of IT certifications in network and IT security. I don't know if after Masters program and possibly more higher IT certfs , if that could boost my chance like it did for you in data analytics.

I will like to hear from you tho

lol... Every country is not like Nigeria- who considers foreigners over qualified Nigerians. And it's not just Ireland, other countries consider their citizens first if they have the required qualification.

But you definitely have a fair ground to compete as compared to Nigeria if you have the required skill sets.

I believe as an immigrant, you would encounter similar challenges in every country. However, you can be absolutely certain that a Top company wants the best man for the job regardless of the candidate's nationality. In fact, most companies are taking very deliberate actions to increase their diversity and inclusion stats.

That being said,I did finish my masters with a first class. I do not think this was critical as I got the offer before my final results. In fact, the immigration consultants my employers hired to help arrange my critical skills application told me I could not fill in details about my masters degree since I had not yet graduated at the time so I used my Nigerian Bachelors degree which was a 2:2.

As for certifications, before leaving Nigeria my 3 year career was in IT Project Management, I had the certifications that mattered for that as in PMP and ITIL. These certifications are not directly relevant to my role in data analytics now but I think professional certifications show that you are capable of learning new things quickly, which in my opinion is the most important skill for any IT related profession as things constantly change.

wow, well I kinda think your first class in MSC played a factor in the sense that although you got the offer before the final result but as soon as they got to know your got first class they had to start the application for the work visa thing you said is applicable to a green card.

That's good to know you have relevant certf in Project management with the 3yrs experience, I also have relevant CERT's In Networkin/IT security, I think what i have to focus next to gain the same luck as you is a first class in the Masters program.

He stated that it didn't and i know of someone who got a job in the legal sector before concluding her Master's degree. In developed regions, experience trumps qualifications. They understand that classroom theories differ from field practices. So if you have some experience from Naija that's added advantage.

Hello folks,

Compliments of the season to you all. To the guy who shared his testimony of getting a job two months before graduation above, I say a big congratulations to you. I believe that is the dream of everyone embarking on studies abroad. To gain relevant work experience.

My take on the post is not critical, but just to lay some facts on the job thing. There is a lot of IT job in Ireland at the moment, so most people who are studying IT related courses are smiling to the bank. Same cannot be said of other fields. Most of my friends who studied IT related courses are all working with the various companies sponsoring their work permits and all their classmates also got employed. There is high demand. So I guess most companies are looking at the necessary skills of applicants and not necessarily certificates, grade or where one comes from. Previous experience in the field or related one is also a factor, no matter where such experience was gained. It is highly valued. This is not to say that people without any prior experience are not getting jobs. They do. The good thing here is that the recruitment process doesn't take long like it is in Nigeria. In most cases here, it is straight interview after application. No need to battle dragnet, shl, workforce etc. Lol. So it is important to hone necessary interview skills. I believe most colleges here have sessions dedicated to that.

I attended a career fair, and one of the speaker from industry once said academic qualification is just about 25% of what they look out for in candidates. Other useful skills include communication, interpersonal, analytical, team work, and flexibility. Why am I saying this? I believe it is important to factor all of these into the academy pursuit while it lasts.

The lesson to learn from the poster is to start the job hunting process as early as possible. Especially by the end of your second semester.

In all, there is no one fit all approach to these things. Just ensure you have your goals in place and continue to work towards seeing it to fruition.

Happy new year in advance to you all. Cheers.
