I think you misunderstand my intentions, I'm not selling the tanks because I'm no longer into fish farming. I recently got a bigger place and I just dug 3 earthen ponds here in badagry and as such the plastic tanks no longer fit into my business model. I also intend to dig more ponds of 40 by 80ft which is why I intend to raise money by selling the tanks.

Read between the lines. Understand what you've read. Ask questions where you are not cleared. Find a mentor to teach you more, especially practical aspects and to guide you in applying what you've learnt. Follow the rules, yes catfish farming has rules.

Definitely you can't feed them while on journey. They won't even eat if you do and if they do, they will vomit all out of stress. My advice. Feed them very well with a good feed 2 days after the arrival.

Some are above 1kg and few are lesser than 1kg. I actually transport from the south west to lokoja to sale and most times before I get to the destination, their weight would have reduced which do cost me some loss.

you will have to let them rest and feed to regain their weight due to the long distance stress, caused by bad road network. don't feed for next 24 hour cause they will not eat, only apply malt vitamin in their water and feed the next day.

Am a new about to start entrant in this catfish farming I have been shown a pond which I intend on taking for a lease.my concern however is that the wall of the pond is of the concrete type where as the floor is of earthen type.please I need advise as to using this pond for successfully raising catfish.

@ Ojbig1 all things be equal , put into consideration the texture of the land, is the pond issued in a swampy area or a plain ground ? is the pond well chained againted collapes ? if on a plain land ,have you made adequate provision for water due to water loss through absorbation of the soil.

Good day fish hatchers in the house pls I need ur response

I have been into catfish hatchery for some time now. While caring out research online on how to improve I came across a write-up that catfish male can be operated. ( Removing one of the testis, sowing back the fish belly to be used later).
I treid it and everything worked out. But I noticed later on, when I used d last testis the fingerling produced where susceptible to stress and easily fall sick
I have carried out this practice twice and my fingerling where not as rugged as it use to be.
I intend carried it out ones more I don't want to just jump into conclusion that the fault was on..( using the last testis from the male).
My question is has anyone experience such... Or have an idea that this practice can affect the offspring...

good day guys.. compliment of the season.. with my latest findings and observations.. some marketers especially hausas sells bigger catfish at lower price.. was told they were rear for less than 3 months.. they sell at a very lower price. and there fish is always bigger than ours.. wish we rear for 6-7 months.. was told they use chemicals.. please how true is that?
