It is possible for the word to originate from the efik\ibibio language. The white man when trying to pronounce Mbakara might not know how to pronounce it well.

Mbakara is Akwa-Cross term for whites(oyibo) or originated from white man country.
When we say 'mma mbakara' we are referring to a white lady/woman from a foreign country.

Note 'Afia' also means white, we describe a fair complexioned lady/woman in Akwa-Cross as 'Afia mma'

Obio mbakara(Yankee, white country) means obodo oyibo in igbo language
