Let's watch and see then...But as for me, I have lost every confidence in this current NLC and their deceitful activities. They don't speak for us any more, they are just there to enrich their pockets. That's my opinion though...

I am surprised you once had confidence in Labour Unions..... that you now lost it.

*CIVILISED WAYS TO SHOW COURTESY.*

Courtesy costs nothing but is very valuable. It should be taught in all schools and the message pinned in every public place.
1. In case you miss a call, drop a message as soon as possible if you're unable to call back.

2. Pay back borrowed money as soon as possible no matter how little the amount is. Do not opt to clear your personal needs first at the cost of your lender's personal needs. IT'S BAD MANNERS!
Don't assume that they don't need it, and never make them ask you for it.

3. Do not ask for a lift and make the person wait for you. Instead, position yourself at a convenient place so that they do not have to divert from their route.

4. Turn the volume down when you're watching video, playing music or playing a game on your phone in a public place or, better
yet, use headphones.

5. Don't press your phone or use headphones when someone is having a conversation with you.
Unplug the headsets from your ears even if nothing is playing and give them your undivided attention.

6. When using someone else's phone or computer, don't go through their stuff without permission.

7. Always leave the last piece of meat for the person who bought it unless they insist they won't eat it.

8. Don't use loudspeaker of the phone to have a two person conversation unless you are unable to hold the phone.

9. When someone else cooks for you, offer to help clean the kitchen.

10. If you stay the night at someone's house, make the bed or fold the blankets before you leave.

11. Don't let your arguments escalate in public. Find some place else to continue arguing where others won't feel uncomfortable or interested.

12. If you ask your friends for help with some house work, feed them as payment.

13. When someone buys you food or coffee, try to return the favour within a week (if you can).

14. When you borrow someone's car, fill up the tank when you return it. If you've had it for a prolonged period of time, service it as a way of saying 'thank you.'

15. Whatever you borrow, return it in its best condition as a sign of gratitude.

16. Don’t pick up a call while you are engaged in conversation without excusing yourself.

17. Make sure you don't forget to return that book you borrowed.

18. Do not take up a house pet and neglect to feed and care for it.

19. When someone gives you a gift, no matter how small it is or the way it was presented, even if it isn't up to your expectation, just say 'Thank You.'

20. 'I'm sorry', 'forgive me', 'thank you', 'pardon', 'excuse me', 'I understand', ... are all courtesy phrase that should forever be in ones vocabulary. They display manners and manners breed 'favour'.

21. Do not always be on the receiving end of a relationship. Try to also give, no matter how small.

22. When you have someone older than you who is friendly and makes himself free with you, speak to them with respect.

23. Don't feel too big to be corrected or reject good advice because you feel it's your life... Life is a ring; the next blow can come anytime.

24. When you receive messages on social media, try and reply. Don't feel too proud, maybe because you are a celebrity. Remember, no one knows tomorrow.

25. Do not send someone a 'call me back' or 'pay forward' when you are the one in need of their assistance, or worse still, want to borrow from them. Show some courtesy and fund that message.

26.When someone sends you money on your phone be sure to notify the sender once you receive the money and remember to say thank you.It costs nothing.

DON'T STOP LEARNING. We are never too wise to learn.

Shared as received!!

The Nigeria Labour Congress says it will on Tuesday
hold a nationwide protest to drive its demand for the
upward review of the national minimum wage from
N18,000 to N30,000.
The General Secretary of the NLC, Dr. Peter Ozo-Eson,
said in a statement that there would be no strike for
now.
Ozo-Eson, therefore, asked members of the public to
disregard reports that the strike would begin tomorrow.
The statement read in part, “It has come to our attention
that some sections of the news media have largely
misrepresented our action plan in reaction to the delay
in transmitting the recommendations of the Tripartite
Committee on a new national minimum wage to the
National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari.
“It should be recalled that the National Executive Council
of the NLC met on December 17 last year and directed
that we hold nationwide mobilisation of workers and
our allies if, by December 31, 2018, the bill on the
national minimum wage has yet to be sent to the
National Assembly to be passed as an Act of Parliament.
“We immediately announced then that on Tuesday,
January 8, 2019, there will be a nationwide mass
mobilisation and protests simultaneously across all
states in Nigeria. This does not translate to a strike.”

2019:  Federal High Court restrains INEC  from accepting any candidates from Rivers APC

▪Federal High Court nullifies direct and indirect primaries of Rivers State APC

▪declares that Rivers State APC cannot present any candidates for the Governorship , Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly elections

A Federal High Court in Port Harcourt on Monday restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising any candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC ) for the 2019 General elections in Rivers State .

The court also nullified all nominations of the APC  in Rivers State for the forthcoming elections in 2019.

The court ruled specifically that the  APC cannot participate in the Governorship,Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly elections during the 2019 polls in Rivers State.

Justice Kolawole  Omotosho in his judgment  in the suit filed by Senator Magnus Abe and others versus Rivers APC and others declared the APC for failing to respect the law must bear the consequences of her disobedience of the law.

Justice Omotosho stated that the Direct and indirect primaries of the Rivers State APC are illegal, null and void.

The court further declared that both the Direct and indirect primaries were held during the pendancy of the suit at the Rivers State High Court.

According to the court, the APC conducted the indirect primaries  in gross disrespect of the pending suit before Justice Chinwendu Nwogu of the Rivers State High Court.

He noted that the judgment  of Justice Chinwendu Nwogu nullifying the primaries of the APC in Rivers State is yet to be set aside by an appellate court, hence it remains valid.

The court, therefore held that the names sent by the Amaechi  faction and the National Working Committee  of the APC to INEC for the 2019 General elections  were illegal and should be disregarded .

He posited that the Direct primaries conducted by the Senator Magnus Abe faction were illegal because  the National Working Committee of APC did not monitor or participate in the processes.

Justice Omotosho added that Justice Chinwendu Nwogu was clear when he nullified all primaries and congresses held during the pendancy of the suit, which included the Direct primaries conducted by the Abe faction.

He said that both the Senator Magnus Abe and the Amaechi factions have no leg to stand in view of the judgment, hence both factions are disqualified from participating in the elections.

The court held that the APC in Rivers State has no power to nominate and sponsor any candidates  for the 2019 General elections.

Justice Omotosho condemned  the invasion of the Rivers State High Court during the hearing of the suit, saying that actions must be taken to check the excesses of persons interested in destroying the rule of law.

https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/304755-just-in-finally-nigerian-govt-sets-date-for-minimum-wage-bill.html

UPDATED: Finally, Nigerian govt sets date for minimum wage bill

The Nigerian government has finally set a date for the transmission of a bill for a new national minimum wage, a move aimed to stop the organised labour from starting a strike about a month before a presidential election.
The federal government has repeatedly dithered on the labour’s demand for a new wage figure, refusing to commit to N30,000 recommended by a tripartite committee.
Still, President Muhammadu Buhari assured he would review the recommendation and send a bill backing a new wage figure to the National Assembly.
With the Nigeria Labour Congress and its affiliate unions threatening a protest and a nationwide strike, the government on Tuesday agreed to send the bill on January 23.
The decision came after three days of talks.

Tuesday’s meeting held between 1p.m. and 3:30p.m. at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma were present at the meeting with the NLC, TUC and other labour unions.
The meeting took place the same day the labour unions held a nationwide protest over the minimum wage.
In his opening remarks, the minister of labour and employment, Chris Ngige, said protests were no longer necessary and threats should be withdrawn since both parties have reached an agreement.
“On part of the government, we are going to try to religiously implement all the processes that will enable us to transmit this bill within the stipulated time. We have a target time of January 23 and we hope that all things being equal, the executive will be able to do so. We will take it to the statutory meetings of Federal Executive Council, National Economy Council and the National Council of States to enable us to transmit the bill on the new national minimum wage,” he said.

The national president of Nigerian Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba said the labour unions agreed to the date but warned it would not tolerate a breach.
Mr Wabba, urged the government to keep to the date so that the process can be completed.
The unions threatened the process will be reviewed with necessary action taken without reverting to the government.
“Our position is clear and through our negotiation, they know very well that not yielding to the terms is going to spell a reaction not good for the industrial atmosphere of the country. We have it in good faith that they will honour their part of the bargain. We will continue to sensitize our member that once it is 24th and nothing is done, we swing into action,”he said.

According to him, the ministers and the labour unions have signed a memorandum of understanding. With that, I think we can actually follow up on the process. We have asked them to keep faith with the timeline so that this thing can be concluded. Having submitted the Report, we expect that the bill is transmitted and that is what we discussed. We know that the members of National Assembly want workers to get desirous minimum wage,” he said.
“Clearly speaking, we have been diligent and we have always been carrying our members along. Our power is from the membership. Until the money is in their pocket, it will still be a story. We have told them to carry this message to all government houses in Nigeria. This is an issue that affects every worker. Any governor that said he is not paying should be ready for the rot of those workers,” Mr Wabba said.

The deputy president of the Trade Union Congress, Sunday Salako, said the labour unions and government were committed to the processes and an agreement has been reached.
“Both of us are committed to the processes. I mean the government and labour. We’ve reached a clear understanding. Transmission to National Assembly must be on or before 23, January. After that, should anything negative happen, labour will not revert to Government again?” he said.
The NLC has been at loggerheads with the federal government over a new minimum wage.
The NLC and other labour unions demand that the national minimum wage is increased to N30,000 from the current N18,000.
But presently , the national assembly is on recess and will resume January 16.

Nigeria is in sorry state. I blame our political NLC, One months from today, and election is on 16 February ( one month 7 days from today) Buhari body language shows that he never wanted to implement minimum wage before election, maybe he is thinking of winning 2019 election, so that he can pay anything he like as new minimum wage, but since he decided to disappoint us, God will disappoint him too. Minimum wage: Adamawa will pay N30, 000- Bindow
Adamawa State Governor Umar Bindow
Safari by Tony Akowe, Abuja — January 11, 2019
Adamawa State Governor Umar Bindow has assured the state will implement the N30, 000 agreed by the tripartite committee on the new National minimum wage.
The governor told The Nation in an interview in Yola, the state capital, that whatever is agreed upon by the federal government will be implemented by the state without any reservation.
He declared he was of the firm belief workers deserve their wages.
Bindow, who insisted payment of salaries was not an achievement any government or employers should be parading, said despite the lean resources of the state, his government has kept faith with regular payment of salaries to workers, including payment of arrears of salaries inherited from previous government.
He said: “When we came in, there was nothing. Even mere salary of worked in the state was not paid.
“There was about seven months arrears that the former governor refused to pay.

“But I have been able to offset the arrears with about N5 billion because this state is a civil service state.
“They say, yes I am laying infrastructure but they also want their stomach infrastructure by way of salaries taken care of too and of course people must eat.
“If there is any country or state that cannot pay salaries, that country or state is a failed state because personally, paying salaries is not a yardstick for performance.
“It is compulsory that you pay people because they are working. So, it is not a developmental yardstick.
“You cannot say because this governor is paying salaries, then he has performed.”
On the position of some governors that N30, 000 is unaffordable, Bindow said: “As far as we are concerned in Adamawa, whatever the federal government agrees to, we also agree to pay. I cannot do otherwise.”
Speaking on his relationship with Labour in the state, the governor said: “Whatever I do, I carry everybody along. Whatever I do in the state, even if it does not affect them, I call them in and they see how I do things.
“I have been paying their salaries and don‘t have problem with them. I am always with them and whenever they invite me, I am always there for them.”

Anyone with any news pls share. My brother to be on the safest side, try and do your PGDE if you have not, so as to not bother yourself whenever you hear this kind of news. I've gotten mine on PGDE, gotten my TRCN cert and about to finish M.ED this year too. Although, I didn't apply to the board for it but am now rest assured that i can't be axed based on education certificate requirements anymore. However, the truth is that nobody is sacking anybody.
