Merry Christmas distinguished colleagues. As we welcome 2019, it is expedient for us to have a disciplined contributory savings culture. It is in this light, that I'll solicit for ten(10) disciplined and faithful teachers who would love to join me in a contributory savings of N30,000 or N50,000 monthly. Interested people should call me on 08064106102 so we can schedule a meeting and plan the modalities to kick off January, 2019.
Thank you.

Apraise:

Edo state government started paying minimum wage of 25000 without the Pria information of the government at the center, if wike is workers friendly he can start paying minimum wage to Rivers civil servant even before the president decide to send the bill to the national assembly.
. That is a mare increament in salary n wages as increament of minimum wage is a matter of the law.

Iniobon:

Yes, you can pay. The present minimum wage is 18k, the law allows you to pay any amount so long as it's not less than 18k. You can pay even 100k as minimum wage if you have the financial strength.

Oh that's not true. The minimum wage is on exclusive list that is correct. Any state that want to pay higher can do that but no state should pay below the minimum wage.

I don't think that is correct, minimum wage is #18000 and you can pay above and not below,so the minimum wage Edo State civil servant gets at the end of the month is #25000.

Why should the ministry of education be the last to be attended to be attended to ? This clearly shows the government at all levels don't value education at all.

Which strike This present NLC can't embark on strike. They've been politicized, heavily corrupted and appeased...So they can't be trusted to represent, act or speak for Nigerian workers, simple!

Let's watch and see then...But as for me, I have lost every confidence in this current NLC and their deceitful activities. They don't speak for us any more, they are just there to enrich their pockets. That's my opinion though...

We have gone passed attending meetings on minimum wage but will honor FG’s invitation – NLC

Posted on January 3, 2019

The Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, has said that further meeting with the Federal Government over the proposed N30, 000 new minimum wage is no longer necessary.

NLC, through its General Secretary, Dr. Peter Ozo-Eson confirmed receipt of invitation for a meeting with the Federal Government to Vangaurd on Wednesday.

Ozo-Eson said that the labour had received letter from the labour, but added that NLC would honour the invitation, though it (labour) had passed the stage of attending meetings on the issue of minimum wage.

He said that what was expected of government was to forward a bill to the national assembly for the enactment of new minimum wage act.

He said, “Yes, we received a letter from the Ministry of Labour inviting us to a meeting on Friday. Although for us, we don’t know what those meetings are for because what needs to be done now is not meetings.

“But in our tradition, (if) you invite us to a meeting, we will come to listen to you.

“But we have passed the stage of meetings upon meetings what needs to be done is for the bill to be sent to the National Assembly, but we will attend the meeting.”

Organized labour announced on Wednesday that it would embark on a total shutdown of the economy from January 8, 2019.

The Friday meeting between the federal government and labour unions ended without an agreement.

The meeting was organised to prevent the planned January 8 protest by labour unions.

The planned protest by the labour unions is to demand that President Muhammadu Buhari submit a bill to the parliament for the implementation of N30,000 minimum wage for workers.

While addressing journalists at the end of the Friday meeting, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba, said the meeting has been adjourned till 5 p.m. on Monday.

”We are still discussing and will continue on Monday. We need to make further consultations before the issues are concluded,” he said.

In his reaction, the labour minister, Chris Ngige, who led the government delegation, said the government has made progress with the workers.

The meeting, which started at 12:50 p.m., went on recess at 3:20 p.m. and reconvened 4:28 p.m.

The meeting went on break because President Buhari summoned Mr Ngige, the finance minister, Zainab Ahmed, and the budget minister, Udoma Udoma, for an emergency meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has been at loggerheads with the federal government over a new minimum wage.

The NLC and other labour unions demand that the national minimum wage be increased to N30,000 from the current N18,000.

New minimum wage: What NLC said after meeting with FG
The President, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Mr Ayuba Wabba, has said that the organised Labour believed in social dialogue in resolving industrial relations.
Wabba disclosed this after a meeting with the federal Government on Friday in Abuja.
According to him, the Labour discussed all the issues bothering on the National minimum wage, adding that process was inconclusive.
He said “We have had a social dialogue bothering on the national minimum wage as you are aware and the meeting decided to adjourn and reconvene on Monday for us to do further consultations before the issues are concluded.
“We have discussed all the issues and all the areas particularly how we can ensure that the issue is put behind us. That is why we took such a long time, including having a time out to consult.
“But we have not been able to conclude and we have agreed to reconvene to tidy The process. The issue at stake is to make sure that the bill is transmitted and also other auxiliary issues that government says they are trying to put together.
“We also want to see how the money gets into the pockets of our workers because a lot of economic factors have affected the current wage. But the major issue is that we have been able to have a meaningful social dialogue.
“But the process is not conclusive and we will reconvene on Monday. Monday is not too far from now since today is Friday. So, I expect you to be available to get the decision by Monday.
“The rallies on Tuesday will be determined by Monday’s meeting,” NAN quoted him as saying.
Wabba added that part of the report that was submitted was all inclusive of the main report and draft bill.
