I still don't understand why we are not allowed to hold our leaders to certain standards. Why can't the CJN be allowed to defend himself? Will it be any different if he wasn't the CJN?
It seems you don't know what buhari jubril want to do.He want to sack the judge so that he can replace him with a Fulani judge who can do his bidding.

You cant really fight corruption in this country its just impossible because i wonder why this man can not be charged and be allowed to prove himself

And I also wonder why buratai is still not arrested even though he has properties in Dubai that are more than his legitimate earnings.

Are you one of those dumb idiots that still think Buhari has any real interest in fighting corruption?

Buhari said he has declared his assets and directed Nigerians to approach the CCB who refused to make the assets known to Nigerians.

Now, CJN Onnoghen declared his assets and the CCB is expected not to disclose content without the approval of the the accused.

I want to ask, who showed the APC group that filed the petition the assets declaration form of Onnoghen?

Buhari assets are known and public I don't know where this your CCB not declaring it comes from. File a request under freedom of information act if you want a copy

if you read the article, you would see where it was stated that the law gives the man immunity from being charged as long as he remains CJN. He can only be charged after he is removed by the NJC

The man has the same immunity APC people claimed Ganduje has, so, why is he getting a different treatment? Or is this another case of double standard and hypocrisy?

I agree with you, corruption cannot be fought in this country if people like Buhari and his cohorts in the APC government keep making excuses for some, without handing the same excuses to others. The Justice is not even a member of a political party, but he is obviously bearing the wrong name.

APC has destroyed all institutions or stifled them to silence. The last is the judiciary. If this CJN goes, that is the end of Nigeria as a pseudo-democratic state.

Wait for the zombies to arrive

The argument of the daily tribune had no ground. A previous judgment which is being contested at the supreme court can not be referenced where that judgment has no constitutional basis. The judiciary has no immunity from criminal prosecution. The false declaration of assets is a criminal matter and no a civil offence or moral burden. The NJC doesn't need to vacate the seat of the CJN (who happens to be the head of the NJC) for him to be docked by he CCB

I'm so angry at the mentality we have in this country. The leader of the 3 arm of government failed to declare his assets Properly and his excuse was that he "forget", and the next thing we're worried about is that there's an election, he's a southerner, he's a Christian, the charges are political, blabla!

How the F. U.C.K is any of the above reasons got to do with the fact that this judge has corrupt tendencies?

Buhari's government have tried northerners, in fact, many times the amount of southerners. I don't see anywhere where governments are convening meetings about how to stoke up ethnic sentiments among the naive populace!

If I'm this government, the fact that people are getting emotional and sentimental will only make us more determined to remove that man from that position.

The average Nigerian is so flawed character wise. And imagine that it is the same set of barbarians that will not waste time before lynching and maiming and burning their fellow human alive without wondering whether the person is from their village.

We deserve how leaders however they treat us. We deserve them.

. Nigerians are their own problem. Trump of USA,Theresa May of Great Britain, Putin of Russia,Angela Merkel of Germany,Macron of France and the rest of western world leaders should come and rule Nigeria I am very sure our people will still complain. Let the CJN defends himself and prive innocent beyond reasonable doubt that he is innocent of the allegations levelled against him. He is a man who knows law inside and outside. Let the rich or elite fight themselves.

The head of the country’s judiciary cannot be prosecuted while in office until he is oust by the National Judicial Council which must take the decision if the judicial officer is found wanting after its investigation brought against any judge.

But lifeless is so desperate to hold on to power by every means, including subverting the constitution, but he will lose woefully. Thank God, next month is failbuhari.

What you quoted is not backed by the Constitution of Nigeria you can download a copy for tree and read it if you are not sure.

premium times are quoting a poor judgement in itself being contested at the supreme court and trying to apply it as precedence. Precedence doesn't override the Constitution it only seeks to give it clarity where required.

The CJN can be charged if a criminal matter arrises and he has a right to remain innocent till proven guilty. The CCB should do its job promptly and without favour towards any party

With respect ma'am, it was clearly stated in the constitution that the only Nigerians who are exempted from prosecution are the executives ( presidents, and their vice, governors and their deputy )

And I believe corruption can't be wiped out not because of people like Buhari but people like you. People like you who see any move against an allegedly corrupt individual as a move against your tribe, religion, race, state, region, and nation.

You are politically naive and taking like a child.

Let us assume for instance that the CJ is actually in the wrong. His petition was written 7 days ago. There are people with petitions dating back years who have they not been prosecuted ? Their crimes were committed before his.

IAM thinking of Akpabio, muazu, adeosun, Babachir Lawal, Abdulrashid Maina. Your chief of army staff saved up $5 million dollars to bu a house in Dubai from his salary of N950,000 per month. The government has not investigated.

Stop commenting where you have no knowledge.

Buratai has claimed he has businesses that he operates. If you have supporting evidence that he indeed diverted funds set aside for the army you should approach the relevant authorities.

The premium times have made their analysis and stated facts of the case.

A CJN cannot be ousted just like that, There's a procedure for doing it n Apc must follow it 100%

That procedure does not cover criminal prosecution, it only covers civil offence in the process of performing the duties of CJN. That precedence quoted has no constitutional basis

Update : I've re-read the Constitution again misconduct is explicitly defined to include the false declaration of assets. this matter has only two routes either to senate who can vote 2/3rd to remove the CJN or to NJC who can remove him from the bench. Both parties mentioned above seem to be in the game of protectionism at the moment. This is a serious trying time for our country it presents a serious moral challenge

You know you can download a copy of the Nigerian constitution and criminal and civil law documents of the federal republic of Nigeria online free, when you do please go over it and find wherein a judge is protected from criminal prosecution and given immunity, you'll not find any.

The only arm of government given immunity are president , governors and all those deputising , however ministers in the executive can face civil and criminal prosecution.

Like the legislature which can not be prosecuted for civil matters in the conduct of their duties so does it apply to judiciary but a judge is not immune from criminal charges and does not need to be debenched or removed from his/her position for such to proceed.

This judge is in the best position to exploit every section in the law book to his favor. He should be able to twist the case so he wins. If he can't do that then he must be dull, really guilty and deserve to be replaced by a Fulani judge

i don't care for politics in Nigeria

Too much double standards. Corruption can never die because you cannot fight one side and allow another to thrive, you are working in futility

Today, they fight one tribe and ONR group and leave another group to thrive. Tomorrow a new group will come to fight the side that was ignored and turn a blind eye to their side and the cycle will continue. What is the difference between the CJ and Kemi Adeosun? Or is corruption only seen on one side?

If corruption cannot be fought holistically without minding whose ox is gored, then the fight is lost. And people like you who think that something is being done because one side is being attacked, are the reason why corruption will never die.

This country is dead, and can never be saved because of the likes of you.

PS: we are in a multi-ethnic society, do not assume that decisions can be taken in this country without people looking at the ethnic perspective. Even in the US, people look at various perspectives, be they racial, religious, or sexuality inclined. The sooner some of you understand that, the sooner you will realise that there is no reason why people shouldn't look at EVERY decision through every prism available to determine if it comes from a good place or from a place of malice.

Targeting a group of people because they disagree with your politics IS corruption. This APC government has been EXTREMELY corrupt, fraud and theft are not the only signs of corruption.
