Pls fams which test of English would you advice me to do(TOEFL or ielts), studied economics education with cgpa of 3.78/5.0 and planning on going to study MSC economics this winter semester. I've already went through the thread from page 0 - 416, wouldn't mind if you can give me more tips on a smooth admission procedure. Thanks

Ask from your school if you can use proficiency letter.
If not, IELTS seems better

thanks guys for the information so far.
please i want to get somethings clear. i was told that if one was unable to get free tuition university in Germany, such is expected to block his school fees and cost of living before such could get visa. how true is this. also can you throw more light on paying fees for the non tuition free schools.

If you'll be attending a tuition fee based course, you'll pay your school fees separately to the school.
The blocked account is for your visa processing.

I really have to thank those who stayed back to help even after getting their visas and despite their busy study and work programs in Germany.

I also have to thank those who shared their experiences right from visa journey to life in Germany as foreign students.

For newbies your German school search starts here https://www.daad.de/deutschland/studienangebote/en/

The following steps will help newbies (Thanks to CassieV for the tips)

Most of the schools in Germany are tuition free even for international students, you only get to pay a certain amount as semester fees say between 100-400 euros and most times the semester fee comes with a semester ticket to aid in transportation in your city or town.
However, before you're granted a student visa, you have to prove that you can take care of your living expenses with one of the following means ;
1. Block account: The estimated living expenses for a student in a month is 720euros, when you multiply that by 12 months, you get 8640euros. This is the amount you're required to block in an already opened account with either Deutsch bank, Fintiba or Xpatrio. It is called a block account because you will not be able to withdraw everything at once, only 720euros will be released to you every month.
2. Sponsorship letter: If you have a relative living and working legally in Germany, they can get you this letter. They'll have to visit the alien office in their city and will be required to provide some documents and pay a certain fee. The letter will be sent to you when they receive it so that you can go with it for your visa interview.
3. Scholarship: This is usually the best if you have the scholarship, your visa will be granted in under 2 weeks after interview. So try and look for scholarships you can apply to.

Now that you understand the financial situation, let's go into the application process.
To search for schools, click on this link
https://www.daad.de/deutschland/studienangebote/international-programmes/en/?p=l&q=&fos=0&lang[]=2&fee[]=0&sortBy=1&page=1&display=list
filter your search to make it easier, there are English taught courses there.
Generally, the very important documents needed to apply to schools in Germany are;
1. Transcript
2. English Proficiency
3. School Certificates (Degree, Waec, etc)
However, depending on the school, some other documents needed are as follows.
4. Curriculum Vitae
5. Motivation letter
6. Reference letters
7. GRE test
8. Etcetera.. Visit your prospective school website and find out the documents they need from you.
Note: You don't apply with your original documents, you have to make photocopies of them and Certify them in High court or a Notary public. If you stay in Lagos, you can certify at the German Embassy too. You'll have to book appointment for that.
For those planning to go for a Bachelors course, you need a 100level transcript from a university to apply for a BSc program in germany. WAEC alone will not be enough and No, OND will not do, you need a HND.

For the application proper, it is always important to go through the website of the schools you want to apply to, you'll get a lot of information form there concerning how to apply. Some schools do only online applications, some requires that you send your application documents to them by post after applying online, some you send your documents as pdf to their email address and then you get the uni assist crew.
Like I said earlier, it is important to go visit and read the websites.

When you get your admission letter, open a block account immediately(that is if you don't already have a sponsorship letter) and as soon as you get your account details, send an email to the embassy requesting for a visa interview date.
You need these to get an interview date:
1. Admission letter
2. Block account/sponsorship letter/scholarship letter
3. International passport data page(scanned)
Then your Full name and Resident address.

Prepare for your interview
Go for your interview

Once again please I have a couple of questions to ask.
to certify a document, is it same as authenticating it? If so which copy do u have to authenticate/certify. The original or the photo copy??.

Also, I will appreciate any link to a tuition free university in Germany for masters in public health, international health or health economics.

Then, again. Please is a an employment letter and work experience a requirement for student visa interviews? visa?
Must authentication of documents be done in ministry education/foreign affairs?

Certified Copy (commonly used by uni)/authenticate(ed) copy. Certify the photocopy. You only need to take the originals dere as proof that the photocopies were made from the originals.

You can check Deggendorf Institute of Technology for Medical Informatics or something related and also try to search via www.daad.de

For required documents for Visa interview please download and go through the Student Visa checklist on the German Embassy website

Certification of documents can also be done in the Embassy, High Courts, School dat issued the doc. etc. . . Also, try to go through the uni. requirements very well to know if any special note was issued with respect to kind of certification to be done by applicants

No, it's not. There are some schools that accepts letter of proficiency, you can get it from the Registrar of your school, while it's compulsory to write toefl/ielts for some schools also. Please try to read part 5 from the beginning.

Hello group i need help if anyone can render with an idea!. I did my interview on the 25th October and had issues with the admission letter sent from sch, even the vo told me to contact the sch and tell them them that the letter wasn’t complete and i shoud send them the complete letter by email, I contacted sch and send them the letter i had byt got rejected with reason “ you couldn’t provide a valid admission letter from a german university ( although interview went well) “ so i start again to contact the sch and they agreed they would send me another complete letter this tome but only 5weeks before admission date! Which is 29jan, so I forwarded the the sch gave me to embassy letting dem know d status, then during end of dec i go the complete letter this time and even a map of my state and so on! Then emailed embassy asking for a date of interview date cos no space on website, the replied saying “ do you want to appeal the decision of the embassy or do you want ro register for a new appointment

I replied, i wanted a date so i can meet up with my time. ( I didn’t want to appeal not to take chances and the time factor of 4weeks don pass).
I got a reply few days later saying “ thank you for your email, send your name, adress and documents as attachment to students@lago.diplo.de”. This was on the 2nd of Jan, when i got the email and I quickly replied, that same day nd sent them everything( but this wasn’t the email i was using to
Communicate with them) but since that 2jan I haven’t heard any reply or date given to me yet!.
I emailed them again and still nothing and my time is fast approaching. What can i do??
I also attached that last email i got from them.
Any suggestions will help a long way really. Thank you

AKUPSME:

The documents you need to apply to a particular school is called a set of document. A set of document typically contains a Transcript, English test/ proficiency,WAEC certificate, passport data page etc.as recommended by the school.

If you want to apply to five schools you will Need to certify 5 sets of the documents which you will use in applying to the Five schools.
May God bless you for not withholding
