Hi All, I’m an Oldie, but Just came across this recently after reading thread 6 extensively and thought to share my own experience... Long Post though!!!! Applied for Birth Visa with my hubby and son May 2014. Used Elpaso letter of recommendation for Visa interview(Original plan). Was scrutinized with severally questions by the VO who refused all that had gone before us that day.(transcript was sent 2014, under a different username) We were granted the Visa(All glory to God!!!).. Travelled alone in August 2014 (@35 wks) with Emirates (I was upgraded to business class without any extra payments- Gods Grace!!) through Dallas as POE. My POE was a breeze (To the Glory of God!!!) was only asked 1)- why I was here? I said to birth my 2nd child. 2)- How much I had? I answered 7k dollars (cash) 3)- my final destination? I answered Phoenix Arizona(I was scared at this point) ...I was let through. No secondary inspection( I was running off to get get my bags and get out of the airport cos I felt I might be called back. But luckily.. I wasn’t!! (All glory to God) Registered at MIHS early..Had a wonderful experience with them.. applied for al necessary documents and left the in exactly 4 weeks after birth. I don’t take al this for granted cos I was fully aware it was Gods grace. I used my visa twice after that.. applied for Visit Visa(drop box) with my family in 2016. My DH & Son(1st child) were given as I was invited for a follow up interview. I appeared and was only asked one question. Where will you be traveling to? I answered New York on a family holiday. I was told to collect my visa in 3 days which I did. Travelled with visa severally. Visa expired July 2018.. Applied again for a Visit Visa (drop box) with my Family, but we were given the 221G interview letter. we didn’t get an available interview date till October 2018. We appeared were asked for our itemized bills. I gave the VO my MIHS contract where it states if I pay the specified now I would pay $2,888 with refund afterwards for vaginal delivery. Also took proof to show I had a singleton birth. Showed him a discharge proof. A print out of my hospital medical chart (Hopsital sets up a personal E-mail account for all patients) it showed I had paid my bills. Wasn’t owing. And was refunded $250 dollars because I wasn’t owing the hospital. The VO then asked why we were traveling this time and we told him we had initially planned to travel for summer vacation with the kids but were scheduled for an interview which we didn’t get a date till after school had resumed. We told him at the moment we Hadn’t planned & wasn’t sure when our next trip would be..,He said ok. And told us we would be contacted on when our visa would be ready. Thankfully!! Visa came out in 3 days. Just thought to share with you, amidst all the different specifications on the thread(read it all extensively) I don’t want anyone to throw insults or doubts. Mine might have been a story of GodsGrace only. Who knows? But I really hope it encourages someone, To keep the faith! 24 Likes 3 Shares |

[quote author=OmoBendel24 post=74449752] Please omobendel and others. My wife applied for a birthing visa just now. The vo gave her white paper without collecting any document except passport and says it's on administrative processing. That if they need anything they will let her know. I tried to check the status of the visa at ceau. And saw it has been refused. What is now baffling me is that the date the case was created was 10th of January and when it was last updated was 11 th of January which is today. And my appointment is just today not quite long. Please is there any mixup or what?? |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by OmoBendel24: 12:32pm On Jan 11, 2019 |
Phakabir06: Maybe a check popped up an info inimical to the application speedily after the interview or even the handiwork of the VO's supervisors, pretty hope this was not correct though. As for the date thing, that's normal, "created and ready for interview" mostly happen within the last 48hrs to interview even if your DS160 form was submitted up to 6 months ago. And the "last updated" keeps to timing with subsequent happenings. No mix-up methinks.... Regards |

@Tiwasmum Thank you , you just saved me money and a whole lot of stress, I was about paying for a new Visa fee for I and DH since the 221g interview date we got was far after the conference we attend annually has long past. We could not travel last year because of this date issue and I was worried that since the conference date has long past it might be grounds for denail. 1 Like |

Hello everyone. Being following this thread and hoped to come share my success story but alas I was refused. Here goes my transcript cuz I notice not many people have being putting their visa interview transcripts. As soon as they directed me to this woman at window 4 my heart sank cuz she just put stack of blue paper in front of her as if say na her stationery be dat. Plus she had been issuing everyone blue paper since I got there. VO: Good morning (Frowning ) and asked for passport and ds160 Me: Good morning and hands it over VO: So why are you going to the US Me: I am going to have my baby VO: where Me: Houston Texas Vo: where in Houston Texas ? is it oakbend medical centre? ( in my mind was almost going to ask her how she could know that cuz I don’t remember filling that in the form). Me: Yes it is Vo: Who is accompanying you Me: My husband Vo: does he have a visa Me: Yes. would you like to see (she says yes and I give her) that’s the only document I showed her throughout VO: have you travelled outside the country before Me: Yes UK 20.., Dubai 20.. VO: Have you ever been refused a visa before Me: Yes UK and Canada 20.. VO: did they give you a reason Me: they said something about cash flow ( UK said they were not sure I could afford the trip- I used my own account at the time) She types for a very long time just frowning. Didn’t ask to see any document, no question asked about where I work or where hubby works, who is sponsoring , account statement, assets we had and just hands over the blue paper. Sorry you are not qualified Bla bla. I had landed property documents from my husband, account statements of almost 8M when budget estimate was just 5.1M. The main reason I was even denied those visas for the UK and Canada was that we were paying for our house at this time so our account was not that buoyant. Meanwhile hubby has both UK and US visas 5 years and 2 years respectively and he travels often but I don’t. I am sad because I am aware that you can’t apply for the next 6 months by which time baby would have been born by God’s grace. Someone told me to try South American countries eg brazil or re-apply for Canada. I really don’t know cuz am due in the about 3 months and I just want the best for my baby. Does Brazil make any sense at all or should I re-apply for Canada. Been on the Canada thread and it’s not that informative. House pls advise. 2 Likes |

Phakabir06:Administrative processing can swing either way but that was really fast. I guess you'll just have to wait for her passport to see if anything comes with it. |

@teamchocolate Oya get online and begin a Canada TRV application immediately. You can do it and 2months is the average timeline for the visa processing that peeps have been recording recently. Luckily you don't have to give biometrics again since you have already applied to that embassy b4(if I read you correctly). You might just be lucky to secure a visa approval in record time too, if not, at least you tried. Good luck 2 Likes |

teamchocolate: Sorry to hear. The guys are quite erratic in their decisions so you really can't understand them. You can also reapply if you have the energy and can get a closer appointment date. DW had the same experience and we reapplied after 2 days. Got the visa after all. Just make sure you meet a different person - same person is not allowed to interview you after denial. 4 Likes |

Happy Sunday everyone. I have been reading every update closely and I appreciate everyones input. I really need this clarified. We that has a B1 and B2 and we intend to use it for purpose, though the visa was for vacation which I already traveled once last year with it. Do we really need to send a letter of intent as I have browsed through the US embassy website and I found no such thing as a letter of intent. And besides the visa itself is inclusive of medical purposes. Please house kindly advice. Is it a criteria to send a letter of intent that you are going to the US for medical purposes when the visa itself can be justifiably used for such purpose. Thank you all. I will appreciate your inputs. As I intend to travel for birth purposes by April ending. |

Kesspru: See link below for the response that sending a change of intent letter got this mama. https://www.nairaland.com/4250945/give-birth-usa-cost-procedures/238#74378649 ..pls review then decide....other alternative is travel and see how it goes at the POE OR attempt to renew via Dropbox.... drop box gets some people called for interview.... OR you could book another interview...transcripts of a few recent interviews are also here. All the best 3 Likes |

One advice for people renewing visa for birth. If you are still going for child birth and your U.S hasn't expired yet. It would do you alot of good to apply for Canada before it's expires,u have a better chance than for it to expire before applying to the Canadian embassy. Just in case the U.S denies, your Canadian visa would be useful 4 Likes |

@damsell I readed your response and have some questions. In 2016, I applied for Canadian Visa but got denied. That was before I got USA visa B1/B2 for birthing purpose cause I declared. I had my LO in June 2016 and I have successfully renewed my visa last year April. Can I also reapply for Canadian (visiting visa) and state the purpose in others as Birthing should I include my daughter in my application, I don't think I should add DH since he is currently trying to renew is US visa Please what do you think |
