well would give him the benefit of the doubt since he never said that he intended to lie in his Canadian interview. He said he forgot, it would be unfair to assume otherwise since we can't prove it.

That he didn't read the question well while picking an answer is understandable. I won't blame him on that, it can happen to anybody but saying he forgot his previous visa refusal, I find that hard to believe.

Now you’re contradicting yourself.
You said you thought the question was only referring to Canada .
Then again you said you totally forgot that you have ever applied for a non-immigrant visa to US , meaning if you even understood the question very well in the first place you would have still answered “No” cos as you claimed in that second part that you totally forgot bla bla bla .
Even though idk you , I can conclude now from your own posts that you’re cunning. That’s probably what the VO noticed too .

I am not contradicting myself. I guess you didn't understand me.

Let me ask you a question, if you applied for a non-immigrant visa in the past, and you were denied based on the ground that you have no strong home ties, is this an offense on its own credit for anybody to omit such information from his/her application? I'm guessing your answer will be "NO" because there's no reason to lie about this.

Apparently I did not understand that question properly. In 2017, as at the time I was applying to Canada to study, I was 27, I was living far away from my parents and siblings, and I'm a private person who rarely share his personal affairs with people. My girlfriend of course knew I was making plans to travel, but she was threatening to break up with me because she felt I was going to abandon her once I live the country. So I didn't show anybody my application to proof read, except for information I was getting on Nairaland which I have come to realize that all information you need may not have been written if you don't ask, and I did not ask because I was inexperience.

It was a very honest mistake which anybody can make, and I am regretting it painfully. It has nothing to do whether the US and Canada share information or not. It was just a pure honest mistake on my part.

I fear una nairalanders, come on, how do you just conclude that someone is cunning, like what the hell.

Also, this place is to help people, not condemn them of course except when they've done something wrong. This same cunning person came out very cleanly to the VO, at least according to what he wrote.

I still don't get the main point of your post, are you advising him on the way forward or just to tell him he's cunning?

You were not prepared, that's all I can see here. You didn't even know the total unit of courses you are going to take. Research more about your school and your course, then refire.

If you have money for tuition try Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland. For free education and good scholarship, try Germany, Norway, Luxembourg, Finland, Netherland. Make your choice.

No I DID NOT FORGE ANY DOCUMENT at all. I was banned because a question was asked in the application form if I have ever been denied visa to Canada or any other country, I mistakenly answered "NO" because I thought the question was only referring to Canada. To be honest with you, because of my inexperience while I was applying to Canada then, I totally forgot that I have ever applied for a non-immigrant visa to US.

Other than this, there was no other reason why I was banned. This is the truth.

Did Canadian embassy tell you specifically that this was the reason for the ban or it when you reviewed the whole situation then you realise this can be the only reason for the ban

Those two different things.... if it the latter then . Sometimes the reason you think is the reason might not be the reason

For me, your response seems so stereotyped. I would suggest you know why you chose your program, your institution such that your responses can depict that you did good research before settling for a program.

This is what they said, and I quote;

"Thank you for your interest in studying in Canada. After careful review of your study permit application and supporting
documentation, I have determined that your application does not meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee
Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). I am refusing your application on the
following grounds:
• You have been found inadmissible to Canada in accordance with paragraph 40(1)(a) of the Immigration and
Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) for directly or indirectly misrepresenting or withholding material facts relating to a relevant
matter that induces or could induce an error in the administration of the IRPA. In accordance with paragraph A40(2)(a),
you will remain inadmissible to Canada for a period of five years from the date of this letter or from the date a previous
removal order was enforced.
You are welcome to reapply if you feel that you can respond to these concerns and can demonstrate that your situation
meets the requirements. All new applications must be accompanied by a new processing fee".

I only want to know if I reapply again, and present a strong argument about why I should be issued a visa, a vo may accept to grant me visa because I have spoken with some immigration lawyers , they said that normally it shouldn't affect my chances because America and Canada are two different countries even though they share information. So I just want to know if anybody have come across someone with a similar situation.

This is serious. This shouldn't have resulted in a ban. I would have just refused your visa and when your order your GCMS note, you would have found out the reason why you were refused. Our God of possibility will visit your case.

Why not Taxify your way down to the embassy

Actually taxify or uber would be better since you a stranger, should cost just 1500-2000 not too sure... There are different routs to get to the Embassy via normal taxi, either via Central Area,Maltama, Wuse or Area1 not sure which is faster ....... but i will give you the description via the Area 1 rout, get a bike from the nysc road to NNPC juction i think its 70 naira then use the pedestrian bridge , then take a cab to area 1 under bridge (200 naira)you might want to inform the driver you do not know the place so he doesn't drive pass. From Area1 under bridge take a tricycle 50 naira to Area10 Art and Culture..... the Embassy is not far from there or just from the Area 1 under-bridge take a drop directly to the Embassy should be 200 naira

I understand your point, and I am considering this option as well. However, let me point out to you why I didn't get any scholarship or funding from the school.

The school offers some level of funding to graduate level student only if you have a 3.0 gpa as at when you're admitted which unfortunately I did not have. You can always apply for another round of scholarship the next year so long as your gpa is up to 3.0. However, I can apply for a graduate assistantship program if I resume for classes during the first week of orientation, and have met the admission requirements (that's if I submit some immunization records which is mandatory). The graduate assistantship program is highly competitive, so it's advisable you start early to apply for it.

Also Touro College is a private University no doubt, but it's not a small school, because firstly they have campuses all over the US, and in some countries in Europe, the middle east, and in Asia. It's accredited, and it's been in operation since 1977.

Secondly, their faculty of medicine and accounting is widely recognized and accepted all over America as a good place to study this program because of the researches they have conducted in their department of medicine.

Thirdly, the graduation rate in the school is above 65%, and about 83% of their students get one type of funding or the other. So I have no doubt in my mind that it's a good school even though their classes are very flexible for working class people ( which of course I will not mention this to any v.o).

I think the major reason why I was refused is because of my issue with Canada, and if I wasn't banned in that country, I guess that is where I would have gone to because I love the place and there is an easy path to PR, unlike US and Trump wahala.

Do you think my last transcript will affect my chances of getting a visa, because I intend to include this denial on my visa application.

I just want get a candidate opinion, and want to know if anybody has encountered this kind challenge, or know someone that faced it in the past before I reapply again. Thank you very much.

Hi,

People with <2.75 GPAs get funded by most other schools. Read the transcripts here and see their success stories. To be honest with you, I think the funding was a more serious reason for your refusal even more than the Canada stuff. The VO even asked you if you're sure your sponsor can handle the bills. That question shows he/she has some doubts about your sponsor's financial power and seeing your history with visa applications (US + Canada), it made you appear desperate.

I never said your school is a bad one! Don't misjudge me. But honestly, if you do a survey here, you will discover that the visa acceptance rate for "small private colleges" here is lower than for funded students at large public schools. That is how the experience has been and sadly there is nothing no one can do about it. Even with my strong knowledge of US schools, I had to query Google to check your school and I know a lot of people here did that too.

Your transcript was awesome - an acceptance on a good day! But if you finally decide to wait until the fall semester, consider applying and getting funded by a public university. With this transcript, you would have gotten the visa if it were a funded offer from Georgia State, ETSU, Cleveland State or a Tennessee State as opposed to a no funded offer from Touro College.

And if they admitted you without a GRE, things may get worse when you are asked that question in your next interview.

As for the visa denial stuff, I think you did well there by saying the truth. No one could tell the information the VO had about the whole issue. If you had lied, you may have gotten banned by the US too.

That's all I have to say.

When you use the word being desperate, it sounds like my intention to study in either study in US or Canada is not geniune. Please don't use that word like that, it's not nice. There's nothing wrong if a person applies to Canada, and then decide to apply to US. Saying someone is desperate is very negative. Instead of saying someone is desperate, why not say the person is being persistent in chasing his dream which is a good thing.

Please it's a mind thing, and the word Desperate is a negative word.

Secondly, my sponsor had enough money to pay for my tuition fee for one year with plenty of change left in his account, so in my own opinion, I don't think it's the account. However, I have noted your opinion, and I say thank you.

I am not familar with the Canadian process but is there no way to appeal or at least let them know it was an honest mistake .

Yes of course I can file for an appeal, but it will require me employing the services of an immigration lawyer in Canada and paying a fee of up to $6000.

It's expensive, so I dropped that idea.
