I am trying to apply for a spouse visa as my wife s a full time student in the UK, and i am in Nigeria at the moment. I have a savings of close to 65,000.00 in my Nigeria accounts (NAIRA AND DOLLAR ACCOUNT) for a period of more than 6 months. my question is, does my wife need to be my sponsor

Because I would think that the tenancy agreement would be sufficient. But if not, can anyone give pointers as to what the content of this landlord letter is.

If you can get one do that, it can only help your application.

It will basically state that the accommodation is suitable for the number of occupant for the accommodation and that it will not lead to over crowding

That amount is no where close to what you need for spouse visa application, yes your wife need to be the sponsor or both of you.

Let her get a job that pays at least £18,600 a year first to start with.

Ok in that case that amount is more than enough but i haven't see anybody who applied with source of the money coming from outside the UK.

i have read the requirement section couple of times, these funds are from my share of inheritance from my late father's estate. i have saved and i have all the evidences to indicate the sources of the money.

Your wife has certain documentations threshold, she needs to fulfil.................

If she can meet them, you are good to go........

My question is am i qualified to apply for indefinite leave to remain or I need to do the other 2.5 years extension first on my spouse visa. But the leave to remain has 5 years route , 2 years route and 10years route and I was asking my spouse what if mine is the 2 years route spouse visa and can apply for indefinite leave to remain. He said go and ask the guru's in niaraland they will know exactly what you sld do. So please help and how early can I apply for renewal? 6 months to or 3 months to?

Hi,

There is a thread for spouse visa extension FLR (M) for future enquiries, however, the answer to your question is you need to extend your spouse visa for another 2.5 years as you are on the 5 year route. The 2 year route is not applicable to you. It's for people who applied for the initial spouse visa before 9 July 2012.

For your second query, you can apply from 28 days before the expiry of your current visa.

You are in the 5 year route for spouse visas. You will need to apply for t the flr for another 2.5 years then you v can apply for the ilr when those 2.5 years are up. If your site is a British citizen you can apply for citizenship immediately you get the ilr.

my application took 8 months to arrive and in that situation anyone would have given up hope. i wrote them 3 times and got my wife to write to them through the MP and in all I held on to God and he showed up .visa was granted in October and I travelled in November well aware that I had to collect my BRP so immediately I landed myself and my wife went to the post office and the BRP was not there I was still within the 10 days of arrival or 30 days of the vignette expiring. when I reported it on their website they said I did not successfully collect my BRP and it had been returned I then wrote a letter to them that was within the 10days of the BRP collection and came far before my vignette expire why would the BRP be returned, so I had to wait for another 25 working days before they finally sent my BRP to me December after 1 month and 20 days of my arrival. I tell you it was very tiring everything became boring because I cannot do anything without the BRP and all I do is sit at home and take a stroll in the evening. when the BRP finally came in December I was very excited and on checking it thoroughly I discovered that there was error in the length of stay about 7 month was cut off(Please people don't get carried away with excitement of collecting the BRP check it thoroughly particularly your name and the length of stay return it immediately if you notice any slight mistake ) if this is not corrected particularly your length of stay getting your ILR after 5 years will be very difficult.so I had to return the BRP immediately with a Letter to accompany it and also I attached the letter from the home office showing the length of stay and validity of my visa and after 7 working days the error was corrected and I now have my BRP with all the correct details. started working now and everything going on smoothly.so please check thoroughly

Do i need to have £27k income because of all 3 dependants seeing as it's only him applying?

So all you require is £18,600. But also state in your application, your kids are not coming with you now, but would in the future.......

Would sound very strange to them, and expect bureaucratic hoops, when you eventually apply for them.....

And best to find out the process for their application, before you go down this route......

I would advise you apply for a visa to be on a safe side as having a UK spouse visa does not rule out your nationality. This is just my assumption but maybe someone who has been in similar situation would be able to enlighten you more..
