Anime.
They are like cartoons.
Only they are far better than any 99% of the best movies any American can make.
They incorporate ideology, strategy, philosophy, science. Music. They are master pieces.

They way the Japanese merge this works into their culture is shocking. I have learned more from this works about life than I ever learned in church or from my parents.

Broooooo. I had to just quote you man. I always wonder why some people don't watch anime. They see it as kids something. Buh I've learnt a lot from them. Death note, psycho pass, code geass. etc.. Some deep stuffs man.
Anyways, I just say make I hail a fellow fan.

that would probably be LA ROCHEFOUCAULD collected maxims and other reflections.

it was the first philosophical book I ever picked up. I eventually finished it, but boy my head was spinning for about 3days. I read tougher book this days (I guess my mind caught up or something). I reread it a few years later and was like son just look how dumb you were a few years ago.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

The themes embedded in just this one anime... Let the dead stay dead. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. The futility of war. "History" is rarely true. Unchecked ambition is as good as it is evil. Leadership comes with responsibility. Family and trusted friends are priceless. No matter the odds, never never EVER give up - fight with everything you have.

So many themes.
What I love tho is the ideological battles, the shit in normal movies is just good vs evil, where good wins regardless of effort.
Anime's show the life of the villain, his goals , aspirations, desires.
They make him human. Its hard to hate such bad guys.

Like see doflamigo in one piece.
Or the bad guy in psycho pass.
Or leruch Britannia in code geares.

Awesome.

Can you remember the title of the compendium?

Read mine also but didn't finish it. I am thinking of buying the complete volume (about 7 or 9). It contains all the Greeks classical works and philosopher's works.

It is still the coolest thing bro especially with the works of great philosopher like Dantes hell, odessy story, Socrates works, Plato etc. Who ever reads such works would definitely have a different way of viewing life. It makes you to feel calmer on a long run.

Is it Dante's hell or Dante's inferno. That's the most difficult book I ever picked up to read. Your dearest didn't get past a page. But I know it will be interesting for the ones that can understand, thou.

Is that why someone can not find it booooring?
I read Catch-22 and wanted to pull out my ears
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance was also a chore
Tom Clancy books can be boring
That popular Hardy classic was boring-the title escapes me cheesy
Even some great classics can be boring
Some motivational books can be super boring
So don’t give me that top 1 million awesome books so can’t be boring line

It has to be "The great Gatsby" By F.Scott Fitzgerald. The copy I saw in my dad's library was originally published in 1851 or so written in weird English. Confusing as hell. I had to put it away after less than 10 pages. They made a movie about it years later and I kept wondering why anybody would want to adapt such boring story into a movie.
n d movie was so so interesting. Pls watch it if u HV not
