Shield Africa 2019 currently ongoing in Ivory Coast, I wonder if NPF has specialized counter assault teams like this for terrorist attacks.

Aaaah....sweet tactical gears.

TROOPS INFLICT DEVASTATING CASUALTY ON BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS IN FRESH BAGA ENCOUNTER

Combined Special Forces troops of the Nigerian Army, Navy and the Air Force operating under the auspices of Operation LAfiYA DOLE in the ongoing counter terrorism and counter insurgency operations in northern Borno have inflicted devastating man and equipment casualty on Boko Haram terrorists in a fresh encounter with the dissidents in the late hours of Saturday 19 January 2018.

The terrorists, armed with two Gun trucks, a vehicle laden with Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and a suicide bomber met their water loo while frantically fighting to break into the formidable defensive position of the troops. The gallant troops responded swiftly in a fierce counter offensive, unleashing superior and overwhelming firepower on the terrorists and neutralizied five of them, including a driver and a gunner firing from a gun truck, a suicide bomber in a vehicle loaded with IED and two other terrorists.

In the ferrocious counter attack, the valiant troops destroyed one Gun truck ànd one IED - Carrying vehicle. The troops also recovered one Anti Aircraft Gun and three AK 47 Rifles belonging to the terrorists. The troops are relentless and in high morale as they continue in hot pursuit of some of the terrorists who fled the scene of the encounter when they were overpowered by the troops.

It will be recalled, that only recently, the special forces troops resolutely dealt a deadly blow on the terrorists in a battle in which the terrorists attempted to contest the control over Baga town with the Special Forces troops.

Please disseminate this information to the general public.

So now you guys are celebrating the fact Nigerian soldiers didn't get their asses kicked. Well let us keep celebrating mediocrity. Where is the Nigerian offensive, where is the rounding up of Boko Haram terrorists ? Where is the taking back of land from the terrorists. The Nigerian army doesn't seem to have a strategy to fight the ennemy. The soldiers are acting as sitting ducks waiting to be struck.
The ennemy is bringing the war to the army's doorstep. This is far from good enough. All thanks to thieving buratai.

The Problem with the Nigerian army is decades old, i disagree with your last statement, the rest I agree. We should be the one attacking them I don’t understand this defensive posture.

No, they
use junior officers mostly not exceeding the rank of a Captain.

I see some people are still unhappy with the NA winning any battles and still come out with statements we already know.

The problem is with other parts of the country not understanding that Nigeria is at war and the Government/military reinforcing this by not. going all out with everything we've got instead of electioneering.

When will all politicians wake up, come together to fight this menace, then continue with elections for those who can be bothered with it?

the problem I see is the bar for victory which seems very low. These soldiers should be happy that they defended themselves well. But the guys in charge should be ashamed that it seems bht is more aggressive than them. It seems bht dictates where and when the fight will take place. It seems bht has freedom of movement, it seems the army is sleeping. And you can add the recurring overtaking of military bases by bht, and the emptying of Nigerian army inventories by bht.

Cameroonian bir seem to frequently cross the border into Nigeria to hit bht targets. Howcome Nigerian army just sits on its side of the border and let bht cross at will and even let them establish bases in Nigeria. These bht have bases, the army should be going after them wherever they are.

Because Nigeria (NE) is the prize not Cameroon or Chad. That being said, Nigeria should be more proactive and have a troop surge in the NE.

But why the reduction in the manpower and equipment of the recent manpower attacks? We have seem Bh come with as many 10 technicals with AAA guns and hundreds of foot soldiers......these numbers are fewer than they would normally be.

Most times ISWAP targets the Cameroonians hit are geographically closer to be hit from their own sides.
Around the LCB, when ISWAP is hit they melt into Chad with those ones themselves "snoring" until it makes Derby looks bad.
I also notice that BH/ISWAP are more dispersed (even equipment wise), and only muster for attacks when some form of courier signals them compared to the time when they are happy to set up shop and raise flags

The earlier the Military becomes mobile the better

Probing attacks

The only upside we can get from base defence engagement is that we can force the terrorists to lose men (infact I prefer giving them injuries than killing them so they become liabilities).

Samething i thought, they are guaging the response they would get , before a major attack, instead of celebrating, if i was a CO, I would be running drills, on how to bait the BHT into designated kill zones for my heavy equipments.......something bigger is coming, unless the bulk of BHT are engaged in major clashes with the military elsewhere
