You are welcome teamie, congratulations on your bundle. This baby(ies) has come to stay and bring you complete joy. Healthy and happy bumping to you, i will add you up shortly as a member of the bestest team August. Our roll call in a bit

You are right on track, folic acid is very essential you can add any other prenatal vitamin/supplement. most common mamas use Pregnacare max or Pregnacare plus, i personally use Pronatal cos it is 1 tab per day

most hospitals start registration from 13weeks/3months except where there is a need to start earlier.

feel free to mingle, ask questions and offer answers when you can.

Stay blessed and bumpy grin!!!

Welcome. Nothing to fear about labour, issa natural something. Pls drop your email so that Mamas who have the supernatural childbirth book can share with you.

Nothing wrong with private hospital but pls try and use one you have first hand recommendations for. Will also be better if it's the private practice of an experienced gynae.

Lots of Mamas also register with govt just in case. But govt hospitals get wahala sha.

Really appreciate this Warm welcome ma

Gmail: Strivingmuslimah20@gmail.com

The private is a specialist hospital only for women, that's why I registered there and there are cases they've treated that I know of.

I don't like the stories I hear about government hospital for instaya friend of my gave birth at a federal hospital and they decided not to put on the generator, they used torchlight throughout, the doctor that should thread her tears said he can't see so he left, thank God she did not have any complications

BS

Long post alert!!! Please manage my write up

I got married to my DH in June of 2017 and our marriage came under serious spiritual attack, by the time we were 6 months into the marriage it was so bad that we contemplated divorce, by January of 2018 the marriage was practically over and i returned to my aunt's place as my parents were not resident in Lagos. All through this time getting pregnant was the last thing on my mind, working on my marriage if possible was all i was bothered about. While at my aunt's place i decided to seek answers and every pastor or prophet said the same thing - it was a spiritual battle. Some gave strange solutions but i made my mind to hand it over to Jesus as if he cannot resolve it, then no man can. Decided to go to mfm prayer city for prayers and then the road to reconciliation with hubby began, by April i was back to the house. First week of May, i felt sick at work and went to the hospital, doctor asked for my lmp, i thought it meant last day i saw my last period instead of the first day i saw my last period, so the date i gave him made him rule out the possibility of me being pregnant as my period at the time was just a day late which was normal to me. He asked me to do malaria and typhoid test which i did and he gave me malaria drugs.

I took the drugs that night but before taking it, i read the leaflet where it specifically said the drug was not suitable for pregnant women, shortly after taking it, i started vomiting. The following morning i decided to take a pregnancy test at home with the strip before taking the drugs again and it was positive. I rushed back to the hospital and the carried out another test with my blood and result was positive. The female doctor i met said the malaria test i did the previous day showed i did not have malaria, i wondered why the doctor prescribed malaria drugs then. I was then given routine drugs and asked to do a scan at 8 weeks.

When DH got the news he broke down in tears because unknown to me while we were apart and he met some pastors for prayers, one of the pastors told him not to bother going back to our marriage that i will be unable to have my own children, he was really bothered about it and his agreement with God was that he needed me to get pregnant as a confirmation from God that it was truly his will and he was on the right track. And God did it when i wasn't even expecting or trying.

It was a smooth pregnancy, though was vomiting during the 1st trimester and lost a lot of weight as i could barely eat and whatever managed to go in would come out via vomiting. Second trimester was better, no stress until when the devil tried to rear his ugly head. I was only leave at the time and had been indoors all through, then i decided to go out to get maternity clothes as my clothes could no longer fit, on my way back home, the bus i took was on high speed while ascending the iyana oworo bridge (for those who stay in Lagos) before now, i had the urge to tell the driver to reduce the speed and just before this thought left my mind, there was a loud sound, the front tyre had burst and the driver had lost control of the bus, we were swerving from left to right and the bus made for the side of the bridge as if was going to fall off the bridge, but was prevented by the culvert, the force with which the bus hit the culvert made the bus tumble and then it stopped. We all rushed out, the conductor was in critical condition, the passenger who sat by me had a deep cut on her arm, other passengers had various degrees of injury but God preserved me and i came out unhurt. While waiting for the Rapid Response team and the Lagos State Accident and Emergency ambulance, seeing that i was pregnant, one of the passerby gave me a lift, i rushed to the hospital to carry out scan and everything was fine.

Fast forward to when i was 37 weeks, i bought date and had started walking a lot, couldnt eat the date as i did not understand the taste, i also took Queen's pineapple, my next appointment with the gynae was at 38 weeks, by the time i got to the hospital (private), i was told they had finished antenatal for the day and the gynae had left, (i did a lot of trekking on this day) so i went back home saying i would see him at 39 weeks, that night around past midnight, a sharp menstrual like pain woke me up and when i stood up from the bed i felt water dripping down my legs, i woke my DH and like a jjc that he is, he started panicking. I remembered a BS i read here and the mama also saw water my midnight, she waited till morning before going to the hospital so i showed it to DH to calm him down. I could not go back to sleep as i started feeling the contraction pain and was using the contraction app to time it. They were bearable and 6-7mins apart. I got to the hospital around 8am and the doctor came to check me to see how far dilated i was. Oh! how painful it was, i just kept screaming, he said i was 2cm that he will check back by 12noon.

By 12noon, he said i was 3cm, they will come back in the evening to check, all these while i was gisting with mum and mil, and would pause when the contraction hits again, it was painful but i could bear it, the nurse kept telling me it was child's play compared to what was to come. By 6pm a female doctor came to check and said it was still 2cm and asked if i would rather go home and return later. I said no, so she said she would give pain reliever and antibiotics because of the fluid i saw earlier. The pain reliver made me really dizzy and i was able to sleep for few hours. By the time the effect of the pain reliever was gone, i started feeling the original contraction pain. God! It messed up my mind/brain. I kept counting from 1 to 10 in my mind just to distract myself from the pain until the pain was over while still breathing in and out with my mouth. This was after midnight and i kept looking at the time and pacing about, i could not lie down because it seemed like the contractions got worse while lying down. I was tired, in pains, couldnt seat for long, knelt on the floor just to get comfortable , for where! Ijust kept praying for it to be morning already. By 6am the following day 10th of January, a nurse came to check fetal heart beat and i asked her if i could be given pain reliever, she said no o, that do i want to start all over again, i should not take any pain reliever bla bla bla. I asked if the doctor will come check me, she said yes, so i waited for the doctor.

By 8am, the doctor checked and said i was 6cm and he wants to burst my water to fasten the process, he tried but i just kept screaming and he couldnt do it, so he let me go saying by 12noon it should have burst on its own, i pleaded with him to give me pain reliever which he did and i was able to rest for a while. By 12 noon i was checked again and was 8cm, the doctor was able to burst my water and i didnt feel pain for some minutes and was able to lie down. They picked my things and asked myself and my mum to move to the delivery room, when the contraction pain returned i was crying, as the counting of numbers was no longer working and my mind was just a mess, at a point, i told my mum i wanted to poo poo and she rushed to call the doctor, he came checked me and said it wasnt yet time to push, i should hang on a little and he was giving lectures on how he wanted me to push and the number of pushes he expected for the baby to come. I pleaded with him not to leave me alone in the delivery room, so he waited, few minutes later he gave me the go ahead to push with every contraction that hits me. I tried my best kept pushing, after about 4 pushes he said he was going to tear me, which he went ahead with, i kept pushing but baby was not coming out, he said the baby needed to come out immediately because its not safe for him to remain in the position where he was at the time. We continued no show by this time, the doctor was worried and kept asking what the problem was, the nurse and my mum started praying and the nurse was pressing my tommy as well. Finally my baby came out and he was placed on me for like 5 secs before he was whisked away to be attended to.

They put some tubes in his nose and mouth to suck out liquid and turned him upside down, rubbed his body downwards and tapped his buttocks as he was not crying, he finally cried. The doctor delivered the placenta, told me he was going to inject me so i wont feel it while he was stitching me up, i didnt feel any pain and the stitches were neatly done. That was how my DS was born by past 2 weighing 2.75kg with tear.

Worse, can happen at private establishments, the difference is which establishment are you using.
How equipped is the establishment and how experienced are the personnel.
