Turnover in an account doesn't mean that's the balance. It means the entire money that has passed thru that account. If a youth corper sees the turnover in his account...it may run into millions. And its over two years. Pls don't be silly

No northern CJN will ever go through this level of humiliation. Never! It would have been settled on Friday inside the Mosque after prayers. More so, the emirs would intervene and crush every dissenting voice within their sphere. This is one thing most Southern muslims and non-muslims do not understand and may never comprehend.

The North is strategic and never tarnish the image of the few brains they have alive. Never! Only the south pounces on the flesh yea demand the blood of their own to drink.

Nigeria will not move forward with sectionalism or nepotism but nepotism/sectionalism practiced across board will bring all to the table of rationality. Some folks will still not get this.

I don't support any corruption of any form. However, if the CJN was a close pal to Buhari, this wouldn't have happened.

Thank you, Turnover isn’t balance; the balance is 518k they are just trying to be mischievous and he’s not committed any crime as the money are proceeds from retirement investment , like I said earlier his bankers are alive.

The CJN should be tried following the rule of law. Hence, the media trial won't do any good. No matter what they do, the courts will nullify the suspension and it cannot stand. Even Tanko knows that he is standing on troubled waters and will thread with cautions else he will be dealt with by the NJC by accepting the offer by the president.

Onnoghen is not been tried on a criminal case. No body is disputing how he got monies in his account, if not you would have had EFCC and ICPC gruelling him.

The case is about a mere declaration of asset.

APC and their devilish croonies are trying to turn in around into a criminal case which it isn't.

When in 2015 Osibanjo a mere judge in a,state declared almost $1 million in his bank account, how come nobody questioned how he got them?

The CCT trial is not a corruption trial.
Now since the CCT trial isn't a corruption trial why didn't the CJN honour their summon. Rather the corrupt CJN preferred running from one court to another using the might of his office to suppress the judicial process

Let us assume they are corrupt, which for me is the bane of our society today. I doubt there's a single politicIan in Nigeria , including buhari, that is not corrupt. But the fact remains that "it is better for a thousand politicians t9 be corrupt than for a single judge to be corrupt" . Onnoghen clearly missed it wit his actions lately. He should honourably resign in my opinion.
Therefore buhari should not even make an attempt at probing them for corruption.

If Nigeria can be this fast and thorough in a criminal investigation matter, why does it have to favour the whoever is in charge before they bust up moves like this.
If we handled every criminal matter like this one ehh....hmm nawao, this country would be something else.

Nobody is asking how he made the money. The question here shouldn't be if he is corrupt or not. Even if he committed murder, there are laid down process to follow!
You don't remove the CJN unconstitutionally few weeks to the presidential election.

no worry onnoghens handlers/legal team are heading to court tomorrow to challenge the suspension.judiciary is already divided when the acting cjn swore in 250 team of lawyers to head election tribunals.they should jejeli have told the man he is impersonating so they r not going to work with him but what happened, they all accepted the assignment they where given.who no wan chop.see their face sef from the pix below.so strike isnt going to work the way I see it.
Same issues prop up during jonathan govt and mike ozokhome use an argument in interpretation of the constitution that constitution only said the president can not remove without that 2/3rd senate stuff and the njc recommendation but the constitution didnt talk about suspension and jonathan only suspended Ayo salami.na so the case go till jonathan leave office.apc guys are also trying to use same loophole in the constitution as they dont trust onnoghen to be neutral in the coming election.imagine the man suspending njc sitting till further notice.em think say na senate or house of rep with jus few politicians em dey.judiciary arm of government isnt like that .his opponent jus fired a missile against him using the constitution loophole.

Ray97:
A Bank Verification Number (BVN) search may have exposed more accounts linked to the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen.

Detectives are understood to have written three banks for details of the alleged accounts of the suspended CJN.

The banks are Standard Chartered Bank, Union Bank and Heritage Bank, according to a preliminary report on the activities of Onnoghen by the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and other agencies.

The CJN is accused of false declaration of assets. A six-count charge has been filed against him.

Further investigation into Onnoghen’s accounts notwithstanding, the United States of America, the United Kingdom and the European Commission (EU) yesterday urged caution on the part of the federal government in its handling of his case.

The US called for due process to be followed in the matter while UK faulted the timing of the suspension.

Sources knowledgeable about the investigation of Onnoghen’s finances revealed to The Nation yesterday the turn-over in the alleged accounts of the CJN as follows:

USD account from October, 2012 to September, 2016 — $1,922,657.00
GBP (£) account from 2012 to September, 2016 — £138, 439.00
Euro account as at September 30, 2016 — €55,154.00
Naira account from September, 2005 to October, 2016 — N91, 962.362.49
A document sighted by The Nation correspondent states: “Upon receipt of the report, a preliminary investigation was conducted during which the following actions were carried out:

“A request was sent to the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) for a report on the suspect.

“A letter of investigation activities was sent to Standard Chartered Bank, Union Bank and Heritage Bank to provide the statements of accounts of the suspect;

“A BVN search through the NIBSS platform was conducted on the suspect and six (6) more accounts were found to be linked or connected to the suspect;

“The statements of accounts of the suspect were analyzed and further to that, a letter was written to Standard Chartered Bank requesting for additional information on suspicious activities in the account.”

There was anxiety yesterday over alleged restriction on the movement of Justice Onnoghen.

Security was tightened at the official quarters of the Justices of the Supreme Court.

Journalists were turned back from gaining access to the quarters in the three arms zone.

A reliable security source said: “Yes, the security around the quarters was enhanced but I doubt your insinuation of restriction of movement of the CJN.

“With the tension generated by the suspension of the CJN, security agencies are only taking pre-emptive action to prevent the judges from harm.”

There were also strong indications last night the battle over Onnoghen’s fate would shift to the court tomorrow.

A counsel in the defence team of the CJN said: “We will go to court to challenge the illegal suspension of His Lordship.

“We hope the Federal Government will respect any court order reinstating the CJN. Anything otherwise is a judicial anarchy.”

1) What Exactly is his source of all these wealth?

3) If not legit then what a scandal!
4) Doesn't that mean MOST of our top men in Nigeria are secretly filthy rich?
5) SHOULDN'T THERE BE A NATIONWIDE INQUIRY INTO THE ACCOUNTS OF ALLLLL NIGERIAN PUBLIC OFFICE HOLDERS IRRESPECTIVE OF PARTY, TRIBE AND RELIGION?
6) What is wrong with the black man's brain? How could u be so rich and living in a country that is so poor? IS THERE SOMETHING INTRISTICALLY WRONG WITH NIGERIANS?

This has NOTHING to do with politics. Removing Buhari remains a goal.
but why wasn't Saraki given this sort of treatment...? He deserved it too. I guess his position wasn't as sensitive as the embattled CJN at the time.

This useless iPods will always support corruption. They have been cursed to do that. The same people will come out and start crying and chanting tribal bullsh.it when they lose cases in court. They never use their brain to understand that corrupt judges who take bribes are ruining the judiciary and true justice will never be served if they are allowed to continue.

You will buy land or legally acquire a property, one Bast.ard will wake up one morning and claim he/she owns it, you go to court, they bribe the judge, you lose your property, then you start crying that they are jealous of you because you are from the east. Meanwhile the same useless iPods will support corruption always
