This is why I commend Buhari action, The NJC had over 2 weeks to sit about the CJN issue but they kept mute . Buhari made a big decision and that wakes them up from their sleep.I’m sure they will still be in court with 100 sans to defend the man if Buhari is to follow due process

From my understanding, they assumed the status quo, ie Onnonghen as CJN. They didn't mention the suspension at the meeting., they have an interim chairman which neutralizes Tanko.
Look at the last part of their letter. As far as they are concerned, Onnonghen has not been suspended and they acted like the case is fresh.

In all these I see Buhari losing. If he had waited for the NJC before rushing to swear in Tanko may be Tanko will be the next in line to be the CJN since Buhari has always shown his preference for him.
Patience is the next most important virtue after love.

I like this your proposition.

But, any sanction to any judge will still have to be sent to PMB. So how will he approve the sanction against Tanko given that the said sanction is as a result of his own action of suspending the chief judge due to a court order.

Whether, he steps aside o or he resign oo, Onnoghen is not coming back to that sit, because PMB will never action any recommendations that seeks to leave room for his reinstatement.

NJC can not sack any judge, neither can they appoint any judge without recourse to the president.

Even NJC's hands are tied on this issue.

Anyone that understands even a modicum of law can see where this is going.

Tanko is a gonner.
The CJN, Onnoghen will be allowed to, as his discretion as these things are done, to step aside pending determination of the CCT petition.
If he steps asides, someone else will be recommended by the NJC to the President as Acting CJN. That person won't be Tanko as he is now tainted from all these.
If he doesn't step aside, he doesn't and he continues as CJN, however tainted.

Tanko will be penalized.
If Nigeria is still a democracy, this is what will happen. This is what Beau Harry should have done. But no, the cabal believe they have Nigeria by its balls.

it 'll be a shame on the judiciary if they allow bubu's cabals to prevail over this issue, because the judiciary is like the last man standing against full tyranny & rigging machinery of this govt. all other organs of govt 've been pocketed by bubu's cabals, except the judiciary. why few days to crucial elections, they now realized that onnoghen didn't fully declare his assets?

if the supreme court or the NJC nillifies his suspension,he automatically returns as CJN.It does not need any president to action

Why breach in the first place and then seek to 'regularise'? By your admission, there was a breach hence your use of the word 'regularize'. How are those who criticized such Constitutional breaches goats? You should be objective enough to criticize wrong when it occurs.

It is not a proposition. It is just the options following the way the constitution rules it.

I agree that Buhari will have to accede to it. He can choose to ignore it. He has done that for many court rulings.

However, I am not sure that he will have any choice, anyway. The local and international cry will delegitimise Nigeria's electoral process. This is how Venezuela started [in terms of its disputed elections]. If the NJC sacks/suspends Tanko and Buhari continues with him, then Nigeria has a serious, serious constitutional crisis on her hands as this affects the nation's prime court, the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

You don't know the law wrt asset declaration. It allows for forgetfulness cos it's possible especially when you have a lot of assets. Onnoghen admittance was based on the fact that he knows the law

It's oobvious every bleeping judge has a skeleton in his or her cupboard, within the next 7 days, the efcc, the dss, the nia, the ccb, the nifu and all other secret agencies would pay a secret visit to most of the judges home or office. By 11th of next month, they would throw the suspended cjn under the bus!

Head or tail Onnoghen won't return as CJN,God bless president Muhammad buhari and Tanko Ibrahim Muhammad

The beauty of it all, PMB went rogue and forced the process in favor of Nigeria instead of the crooked judge who deployed the usual hide and seek game where they shop for and pay off other crooked and corrupt SANs and judges to issue meaningless, frivolous and endless injunctions just to evade justice.

The crooked and dishonest even cancelled the same meeting that just concluded indefinitely, but God is greater than crooks, corrupt and unpatriotic elements.

God Bless PMB

Onnoghen has already admitted to the crime. Good he is going, but the due process should have been followed in the first place. We should remember, power is transient. APC will not be there forever. If one tin pot dictator in a new government decided to sack the whole judiciary later, they will always point to this moment as a precedent.

Kudos to the NJC. They didn't allow the noise and groan to get to them. They have shown maturity in statecraft, a quality a certain buhari would wish he had. Whatever happens, the judiciary will win
But that PDP judge onnonghen is gone that is what the president wants fish out dubious people out of the system. A win for the fight against corruption for the president. So what's your point.

The crooked and corrupt judge tried to evade justice by postponing the same meeting indefinitely just to evade justice, that was abuse of power and the crooked CJ taking the law into his own hand for his own selfish and self serving interest.

He did not get away with it because PMB forced the issue and without PMB, there won't be any meeting of the NJC, thanks to PMB.
