So so true.
Running a business is not easy.
I have made up my mind to invest in landed properties and buildings alone, or keep the money in the bank.

Yaay good genuine properties is the way to go

Bobugee,

Why on Earth are you sounding smart but you are really making bad decisions? TB pays 12.5% ROI but Annual Inflation data for 2019 is 13.5% and increasing? So, that means you locked up your funds with the banks at 1.5% loss in value. Na wa for you people o.

Success requires Data Management Strategy and you must extrapolate the growth curve using data spread. You all need to start working with data and not just the figures on paper. Wealth Creation requires statistical savvy.

Damn....

Would you have preferred leaving the money in the bank where you aren't getting any ROI!?? Not even 1%.

Now tell me, what's the best investment vehicle you would suggest to a naive investor, who have in mind to save up some bulky amount of money for a bigger project??

I have read through the thread and there is no single success story. Reason being that none of the posters had a really good reason for going into business and secondly, do not even know the most important reason that makes a business succeed. Just people who are battling to make money.

Money is not the reason you should do business but, just a tool. No matter how much money you have, it is just a tool. If you believe cash is the reason you should be in business, you have a set of wrong data running through your mind.

Stop wasting your time and money, just go back to the basics friends.

Your comments got me glued, Please may we know the basics. What are the fundamentals things we need to consider in business that's not all about the money?

Guys, Business is tough. The risks are monumental. You are the author of your fate. Only the strong will make it in business. I am a goat farmer and we have started an agro loan business.

I will say this first. The agro loan business to me is the biggest risk i have ever taken. Even though we have safety measures, It is still very risky. I wouldn't do it if it is not for my partners.

THIS IS WHAT WORKS FOR ME. I like to build things from ground up. I like things i can feel and can multiply. I only want to go to market if i want and not because i have to. In my goat ranch, i have enough goats i can afford for now and planning to increase the herd. Goats give birth to 2 mostly and 3 sometimes. So 200 females goats can literally double in a year. so in 2yrs i can have up to plus minus 550 goats from 200 females. And in 3yrs, do the math and add their kids that can now have a kid now. I have other dealings but this is the one i think everyone can easily grasp the magic for now.

I bought a huge land where land is dirt cheap. With 4m and the right mentor, you will be on your way with this business. Many billionaires work for many years underground. If i decide not to do the business, my land will still be appreciating and i can rent it out to other people farming different thing.

Superstore business to me will break you heart really quick if you don't understand it. unfortunately a lot of people rent a shop and fill it with goods and to them, they have started business. You are joking.

We need to stop this instant gratification mentality. Every big business person you see out there paid heavy dues. Hard work plus luck does the magic.

Money is in the little things we take for granted. A lot of people would have been stinking rich if they took the advantages in their village. But they will leave their village and rush to town. People who have made it don't give up secretes like that. Information is power.

Entrepreneurship is about solving problem. Look for a problem that is affecting a lot of people, find a solution and get paid. Importing shoes from China or creating IG OR FB page to sell things is not a sustainable thing to reply on. Copying will kill you.

Advice:
1. I believe in gradual growth. No quick way to make it in business. People will deceive you, praise you even though they know you are heading the wrong way.

2. Don't do what everyone is doing. What everyone else is doing will lead you to no where. They will lie that they are making money from it meanwhile they have another means of making money. Don't ever ever follow what everyone else is doing.

3. If you have decided to do business, just know that you have decided to open your heart for beatings and heart break. As a business man, your job is to constantly seek out what works and where it works for you. You business might work in lekki but will never work in Epe. So be ready and open minded to make that sacrifice.

4. Mentor. You need a mentor. Dont just go and borrow money and start something someone told you and you heard it is working. NO NO NO. You will die of high BP. Without the right people, no body will ever succeed. You always need the right people.

ONLY TUST THE ADVICE OF SOMEONE WHO HAS SUCCEEDED IN THE BUSINESS YOUR ARE PURSUING.

peace.

Awesome. You will go places in life(That's if you aren't going already) This single explanation wrapped it all. I am going to commit them to memory.

Bobugee,

You have been persistent, so now that the thread is almost empty, I can relate with you.

In schools, we were not educated on what money is and how to make money.

In schools, no one also teaches how to 'expend' money, we just 'spend' money.

We were not taught how to manage income and the function of the balance sheet, except that only accountants are thought that, YET everyone considers money as the primary desire.

These were done on purpose, by 'those' who designed the school system, designed the curriculum, train the teachers and manage the governing bodies of educational institutions.

So, in essence, people brood through Life, using wrong sets of information about money, and those who make the money, have no expense management knowledge.

Okay...am with you in this.

Lol...my brother, I use to be like. I use to think 'village people' were swallowing my money. So one day I decided was going to stop putting all my daily income in my purse, I started going home with only what I needed, threw away 3 ATM cards of my 4 bank accounts and left only where I paid myself salaries. I also got a POS, to discourage my hands from touching too much cash. In 3 years I was able to make 8 million in saving, yet sometimes na only N500 fit dey my Wallet. I even refused to buy a car and was hopping molue with 8 million sitting in my bank account, packed from a 2 bedroom flat to a selfcon. grin

Guy, I punished myself for all my previous wastages and extravagant expenses.

Bobugee,

Now...this is what most people have not realized.

Money was designed as a barter system. To replace exchange of needs or wants, because of a faulty measurement system. But the Gold Standard which determined the value of the legal tender, was replaced with 'Currency', which is just ordinary paper given value by the Federal Reserves of different countries and regulated by exchange commissions.

To Create Generational Wealth, you MUST find a NEED that billions of people have and if billions of people desire that need or want, then you have a market for billions of people.

So to become a billionaire, you must solve a problem for billions of people. Even @ 1naira per unit, you are a billionaire.

The system seems saturated. But it is not true.

Note this: The most important Konstant in a Quest for Needs Fulfilment is not Answers to Existing Questions of Needs, it is finding Questions that no one has asked.

I wanna repeat that, Invention comes from Asking Questions that does not exist, which means, that if you can come up with a Question that has never been asked, and find a way to solve that problematic question, you have a market for 7 billion humanoids on Earth. Then you can hold a global patent and trademark, and everyone will pay you to even reproduce that sort of thing.

This is expository!

This is exactly where the 'why' of life comes in. Thanks for going this deep.

So, what's your advice to someone who wants to build sth big in the future. And to do that, you know it requires a strong financial backing which is obviously going to come from a steady and consistent savings from the already existing business.

Where do you advise s/he should invest the money that inflation will not erode it away?

TIME

Time is the most expensive commodity on the planet. People do not notice this. You can not get more than 24 hours, yet we waste it on nairaland, on blogs, with friends gossiping, with wives having sex, with girlfriends succking pussy. No one told us that we can stay for 1- week without sleep. yet I sleep like 4hrs in a week and I am still fuccking stronger than a beast. I spend more than 22 hours researching on the next big product, designing templates, studying programming, carpentry, weilding, graphic designs, tailoring, manufactoring, Politics, Religions, Spirituality, marriage and I study business models of corporations, research about God, Satan, Lucifer, etc etc. I study every goddamn and steal train staff and .......someone fuccking told me I need sleep and I am still here ?

These is how to STEAL 'Time'.

1. Steal Time from Sleep. Sleep less than 3 hours a day, your body will start getting used to it.

2. Hire people and train them to do less profitable stuff, you have no business washing your cars by yourself, buy a robot to open and close your gate, by so doing you automate most of the chores and hire cheap labor, which means people used their time for you in exchange of coins. So, in essence if someone works 10 hours daily on a productive chore that earns you 2,000 per day and you pay the person minimum wage of 30k, you have earned extra 30k of labour TIME. So, if you hire 10 people, you have 30k times 10, that is 300k per month 'Stolen Time'.

You have keep a chart and graph of your Time allocation and work schedule and monitor everything strictly.

3. Do not give people your money, I repeat, do not give people your money, not a kobo, let them work in exchange for the money. Do not pay tithe to no one, if possible avoid taxes, do not pay association fees, infact produce things you are sure you will need in your 90 Years. If there is anything you need daily for 70 yrs, you can only be stupid to be spending daily for 70yrs. Something like water, cream, soaps, food, etc should be produced by you. I produce water, soap, cream, every goddamn thing and I scale them up and launch them into the market.

So I have over 7 companies producing different things and I am tired of launching more, so my latest company is into Business Acquisitions and I use that to buy over my other companies and launch new product lines.

I also launch and NGO to buy over 50% assets of the parent company to AVOID TAXES and use that money to expand.

I can not explain too many things here, but you must understand that Business is WAR GAME, and you need to accumulate wealth and guide it with all your Life and if possible, Hire the Devil to Protect it.

Do I sound like a Beast ? Yes. And when it comes to women, do not date one woman. Do not see them all the time. Have a day in a month or two days in a month for ENjoyment and have bi-sexual girls play and you watch and participate and enjoy your life. Do not keep one. Keep two and pay them off.

I believe you understand a bit of what I am saying. I do real estate, oil/gas, above all, I have investment in other people's businesses.

I will write more later.

Mheen! I am learning sir.

Girls maintainance is one of the most hidden expensive projects that guys who seek for immediate gratification unconsciously gets themselves into. And it takes a guy who is self disciplined enough to harmonize between building a successful career and keeping expensive girls.

Bobugee,

You do not need money to start making money. What you need is a methodology to solve the problems. Money is very secondary to it. if you have cash at bank, it is being used by others as floats for trading in exchanges, so you have the right to bargain with your bankers. if they do not offer you APR that are higher than inflationary rate over the duration of the locked funds, then by all means, it is a loss.

Bear with me, it takes long to get these together for you.

I understand and I appreciate your inputs. You responds have cleared this cloudy smokes I have around business and money.

It made remind the words of Strive Masiyiwa, the CEO of Econet Wireless. When the Zimbabwean government granted him license, he had no money for the project but it took him just some couple of months to raise millions of dollars he used and hoisted the business.

Even Adenuga...and Ibukun Awosika. Most of all the cottage industries we have around Nigeria all leveraged on this principle.

I do more research on this. Thanks again!

Next big thing ?

We are in the middle of a technological revolution and you say next big thing ?

1. Cyber Security.
2. Robotics
3. AI (Automated Intelligence).
4. Cybernetics
5. Free Energy based on Magneto-Electrical modules.
6. Digital Marketing & Outsourcing.
7. Real Estate based on fabricated turnkey systems.

Optimization of 'all Existing Models' in every Field.

I am concurrently finding how to 'steal' time to master those fields.

Financing is the least thing you should worry about if you become a Pro. Use OPM Strategies.

Again the whole FISHER'S EFFECT has been criticised several times. It's not sacrosanct.

For the average man on the street, price of most commodities has remained same since 5 years or even reduced. Sachet water price has been constant, gala same. Even some house rents and fees.

Law school fees have been 295k since over 5 years.

Etc.
