Good evening,

Need your advice experts,

I just bought a Nigerian Used Chrysler Voyager, Noticed that the acceleration was not all that smooth and was advised to change the transmission fluid which i did three days ago. Though i notice that the mechanic didn't change the Transmission filter. ever since then i have noticed the following;

Whenever i accelerates high, the car gives a boff boff sound and the accelerator doesn't respond even while pumping the accelerator

The car only moves fine if i don't accelerates much, just moving slowly.

The engine compartment does overheating with the transmission fluid smelling as a result of high accelereration ( Is it burning ?)

The gear changes perfectly though but slight delay from delay to park which my mechanic explained as due to my non used to that kind of gear system

The brake light is blinking on.

My guess can it be

The transmissionn fluid i use, though i can't remember but i bought it around N3,500

The Tranmssion filter not changed when Oil was changed

The brake system

The gear Box,

kindly help me sir, I will appreciate any information you can render to this regard.

Thank you and God bless

hi Experts in the house,

My Nissan Quest 2000 model Reverse Gear started misbehaving 2 weeks ago, it takes time to move, but as of now, it doesn't even reverse any longer. The Drive gear is still very sharp.
Within the space of the 2 weeks it misbehaved, mechanic already drained the gear oil and refilled with Holts ATF Oil, but the all to no avail.
What best option can be adopted, repairing the gear or replacing with a new one?
Thanks.

Your correct ATF is Nissan MATIC D and not HOLTs. Replace the transmission.

Last week I noticed a sudden transmission flare while driving as the gear was changing from 3rd to 4th. I called my mechanic who said gear needs servicing. I agreed and He did the necessary.
For 3 days transmission seemed to be smooth. I ran a scan on the car ND no faults were reported.
Yesterday on my way back from work, the CEL came on. Since the scanner was still in the OBD link port, I quickly ran a scan which returned
P0776- pressure control solenoid B performance or stuck off
P2714- Pressure control solenoid D performance or stuck off
P2808- Pressure control solenoid G performance or stuck off.
Soon free I noticed subtle jerks while driving. The car is still moving but I have parked at home as a precaution.
I hope my tranny is not fried.
I usually don't feel comfortable when cars start misbehaving.
Car is less than 3 years in Nigeria with 98000 mileage.
I need advice please.@kashif and others please advice a brother

An oil flush might improve it a little but You will probably need a new transmission.
I believe you'll have an idea what a new one will cost, can you please inform me?
Thanks.

Hi, I have an E-class Mercedes Benz car with automatic gear. There are times when driving the gear doesn’t engage though not often. It does occur most times when you accelerate a little hard. What could be the cause of the problem & the solution

Hello Gurus in the house.

an outing...passersby spotted oil leaking from underneath the car while i was in a hold-up and called my attention.
we parked the car saw oil leaking called our mechanic and he came around found a pipe
burst and transmission oil spilling, mechanic did partial fix,we bought new trans oil ,
poured it inside drove home.next day burnt oil was smelling, drove it to mechanic workshop
for full repairs mechanic said radiator section underneath responsible for passing cold
water to tranny for cooling down is leaking,he fixed it and gear was working no more burnt smell until
5days after and gear isn't selecting pass 1st gear.

please assuming the worst guys, how much is a tokunbo tranny?
what is the recommended oil to use for Honda crv 2000?

Hello experts, I have a Toyota sienna 2005,I went to the mechanic to work on the exhaust and some suspensions(ball joint etc), after fixing we tested the car in the process we heard a weird grinding sound, the mechanic loosen the front tyres and said all is ok. We reversed the sound came back we put on drive too moved a little the sound came. He said the front axle close to the gear box is bad. And it wil cost 100k to fix it. That buying a new one is about N220k. Cam this be true. The cost and what his assuming is the fault. I have parked the car at the mechanics.

Goodevening everyone.

Please guys, I really need your help. Its very urgent.

There is this Nissan maxima 2001 model my brother gave to me. He has parked it down for almost 2 years.

So, last week...I decided to repair the car because I want to use it next year. We had to tow it to the mechanic workshop. We started working on it. Changed the brain box, the fuel pump, bought new battery, new tyres etc.

After everything, it came back to life. Nice sound. Everything seems to be alright. Then the re-wire drove it around, though, I was with him. We discovered that the gear (automatic transmission) wasn't selecting.

It works on reverse (R) , on drive (D) and on Park (P). But the gear isn't selecting (like change from 1-2).

The re-wire said we need to change the gear oil. We flushed the gear oil that was there and bought a new gear oil. We bought 8L of Holts gear oil. The gear consumed everything before it could guaged.

After changing the gear oil, we then tested the car. It was still the same problem. The gear wasn't selecting. Sometimes, it will act like it wants to select, but nope.

Please guys, what do think I should do? Please!

Thanks.

Hello In-House Gurus,

My issue has to do with the transmission of a 2001 Rav4 that I just got. After purchase, I had my mechanic drain the transmission fluid inside and replace with Toyota Type T-IV. I decided to take it with me on the family Christmas trip and noticed that it wouldn't go beyond gear 3 (80km/hr at 3100rpm). Even when I fire up to 4000rpm, it still wouldn't engage gear 4. All through the trip, I left the speed at 80km/hr (3100rpm).

Apart from that issue, I noticed that the Reverse gear when engaged would sometimes give noticeable jerks and the accelerator depressed. Other times, it moves fine.

I'd like your opinion on what's going on and how to rectify same. Many thanks.

That is a peculiar problem with 2001 - 2003 Rav 4. There was a TSB for that by Toyota. You need to upgrade the Ecu. I'll advice you stop driving the car to prevent damage to the transmission until you do the upgrade. If the transmission has been damaged then you will also need an overhaul. I'll be happy to help you out with this. give Autowiz a call 08060018388
