Universities don't remit to the FG. Infact they collect more from govt. Their funding from fees is small as you do not pay a tuition in federal schools. You pay fees only. International students pay tuition.

It's simply a Dog eat Dog world out there. It's the survival of the fittest so as soon as I land at Murtala Airport, everything about me changes. For starters, I leave my british accent at the airport and I adopt a proper thick Naija one.

My attitude also changes as the situation demands. I have found that more often than not being the Reasonable Mr Nice Guy does not cut it out there. The VC is a bloody liar. I attended UNN and let's consider the official fees. UNN admits roughly about 6000 students each. Acceptance fee is #25,000. That's about 150M. School fees average about #50,000 for about 36000 students. That's about #1.8 billion. Yet to consider the money generated from school accommodations and businesses within the school. There is no way they don't make more than 3 billion outside of government subvention and donations from corporate organisations. Our VC once used $1 million donated by glo to renovate just hotel toilet. With the way our university system is managed even if you give them 10 billion every month they will still mismanage it. After government Ministries, public universities are the heaven of corruption.
