Who told u that, infact as at January last year they introduced new VAT of 5% for consumers to any thing u buy be it food at restaurant or clothes and even taxi, u pay 5‰ , for instance u went to eat at restaurant and the plate of food is 500naira, bear it in mind that u will pay 525 naira because of tax

ACCOMODATION:
Arguably the most important of all.
Factors that affect accomodation cost are;
▪Standard
▪Facilities available
▪Distance from Deira market
I noticed the farther the hotel from the market, the cheaper you're more likely to pay. This makes sense because they are aware most tourists want somewhere close to the market to ease their shopping. The downside of getting accomodation really far from the market is the fact that you pay more on transportation. And by more, i mean double the price if not more. It's like living on the mainland and working on the Island....Only without the traffic.
If you'll like to prepare your own food (saves you cost), then look out for Hotel Apartments instead. They are hotels but they come with a kitchen and other home-like pecks as well.
Additionally;
▪Request to check out the room before parting with your cash.
▪Do not make full payment upon check-in. Only deposit and balance upon checkout.

P.S:
Booking online is cheaper than booking in person at the hotel. We used booking[dot]com

Estimated cost:

250AED - 350AED per night, for a single room.

FOOD:
Prepare to eat lots of rice and bread. Restaurants are EVERYWHERE. I'm not joking...You will find about a gazillion restaurants on every street so you will have choices.
Water, juices, and milkshakes are a given. The rest of the menu is dependent on what kind of cuisine the restaurant usually prepares. If you're scared to tried out foreign recipes, i already did part of the job for you.

▪Biryani/Biriyani:
Basmati rice plus a host of spices. I love this one in particular. It's a rice dish and there are many variants though... There's Egg Biryani, Chicken Biryani, Charcoal Biryani, Mutton Biryani, etc.
▪Beef Nadan Curry:
It's like regular beef sauce. Just a tad bit more greasy, but it's still really good. You either eat this with bread or rice.
▪Roti:
This one is street food but it is cheap and addictive. It is a round, fluffy flatbread which you most likely won't find in a restaurant. It is just 1AED for a very big plain one, if you want the one with cheese however, be ready to pay 3AED or a little more.
▪Paratha:
Flat disk-shaped bread. The much smaller albeit sweeter cousin of Roti. It's sold at about the same price, can be found in restaurants either plain or as a sandwich.

Then of course you'll find noodles, burgers, Fried rice, etc.
Estimated cost:
15AED - 25AED per meal.

P.S:
The meat in Dubai is uber soft.

TRANSPORTATION:
You can get a metro card at the metro station. This card (when credited) allows you to ride on trains from one location to the other. The card can also be used to ride on buses. This is the cheapest means of transportation available.

Estimated cost:
100AED - 150AED for 14 days.

COMMUNICATION:
You can get a SIM card for 10AED. Registration is done on the spot and requires that you provide your international passport (Etisalat) and your visa (Du). Like anywhere else, how much and how often you recharge depends on how many minutes of talk time you use. International calls cost more so the more of those you make, the more often you'll need to top up.
One thing you must know is that WhatsApp calls are barred in Dubai but nothing the power of VPN can't fix.
By the way, data is extremely expensive there but all hotels give guests free access to their WiFi so that is covered.

Estimated cost:
30AED - 70AED for 14 days.
