Sorry to hear dat...I know losing ur phn can be hard but dis idea of tracking,pple are getting it all wrong.Tracking a phn in naija can tk over a month if not more cos of our poor technology system being integrated in our day 2 day use.Not to talk of high charges the police authority will charge u for tracking the phone dat may be or not be found.So bro my advice is continue tracking the phn but don't spend high amount of money doing so.This is naija...shine ur eyes.Instead of paying 60k to our useless so called police men to track a phn of 30k.I wud rather buy a new phn and save extra 30k#Godbless.

Is it normal to pay the police to track down a stolen phone? Isn't the job of police to help do that and why must one pay? Do police also remit revenue to the FG's coffer? Does that mean they won't track my phone for me if I don't have money?

I went to police station today .. they asked me to pay 18k and after that if d phone is not found in that city or outside d city.. i will also pay for transport money to track it.. where will i get such my brother ? Police are not helping me

bro, having d phone imei s not a guarantee u will see d phone back or track it ....ask me any questions abt imei...

Try and locate it with you Gmail.

Samsung CPU architecture is in such a way that you can't change the imie of the phone easily (embedded) so if you have the pack of your phone or at least wrote down the imie somewhere you still have a good chance at locating the phone.. Even if the person has removed the sim card (reason people should avoid buying used phones) but there is little you can do if the person had already flashed it and sold it.... Your network provider can help you track the phone sadly it will cost alot of money so better just suck it in and save up for a new phone, except you are bent on finding the criminal lol....


And one more thing, always use the encryption feature on your phone... Makes it hard to flash the phone and renders it useless to thiefs who are most likely to return it

Nice writeup, but Its actually very easy on their old devices, especially from that specific NOTE 4 model downwards. But i doubt the trash who stole it might not go through all that trouble.

Lol I know they just sell it as fast as they can or maybe for the more sensible ones lays low till the case is cold then puts it on market
