Op, seems you're considering marriage! Told you you would just a matter of time!
I was once a vegetarian for a few years but stopped. That was a long time ago though!

Depends on the dynamic of the relationship, and it really wouldn't depend on just me.

Is she trying to be a housewife (meaning she does the cooking) and a vegan?
If so, then she needs to be ready to cook non-vegan food for me and the rest of the family.

If her vegan cult forbids her from even preparing non-vegan food for the fam (How else will she taste the food she is cooking), then I don't need to be a part of that struggle.
I will let her be great by her damn self.

Asking a question about dating/marrying someone who eats a plant based diet and you somehow concluded I was getting married? How did you even get to that I wonder?

Nah.

There is something usually off about vegetarians.

There are usually weak, frail, and I doubt their immune system can keep up.

Don't want that.

Sure, because as an Environmentalist, we know a vegan diet is best for the environment. I wish I could go vegan too, atleast vegetarian but sadly, I'm addicted to meat.

Nope,
Something have to give at some point. Unless they have an answer to animal based protein.

Ofcos they can be fit as a fiddle, what happens when they get into their 40s and 50s. These are things I need to know before making such commitment.

Am not concerned about getting married, and more concern about what happens after marriage.

This is health related, I won't take such leap into the abyss. This is one gamble I can't afford to loose.

Vegans have existed for millennia
What happens? Menopause like all females
I am so baffled by your rationales though.

Yes vegans did exist, but where did they exist. Africa for one does not have a history of starting out as vegetarians. This vegan thing may work with the Asians but I doubt it will work with Africans.

Away from that, let's talk about protein deficiency in the body (of cos I know you will give me a schooling on this because it's your field), how long can the body go without animal based proteins? That's why I said what happens when they get to the later years of their life.
How long will their body be in optimal condition with only plant based proteins

And for your first question, one of my friends is a vegan since birth, he could not keep up when it came to physical activities, as he grew older supplements became his best friend, followed by finding good excuses for taking testosterone injections.

If you bring in the use of supplements into the equation here that will change the narrative,
but only plants based dishes? Na.
Don't want a wife that will be visiting the hospital often for blood work.
Hospitals makes me worry.

Protein from none animal based food sources?
I have no idea what your friend was doing but it does not sound like they had a balanced diet.
A lot of Africans are vegan for long periods at a time albeit it being poverty driven.
Blood work for?
Being anemic?
There are humans that eat meat that are still poorly and sickly and anemic.
It boils down to balance ..eating a balanced diet even if it does not contain animal protein.

I once dated and lived with a girl (for almost two years) who doesn’t eat spicy/Nigerian foods and I can’t go two days without Nigerian food. We was cool still. Never had any problem with that. I cook mine, she cooks hers. Most times, she even cooked my food for me. So?

For the love of the saints!
Not sure spicy food vs none spicy food is at par with a vegan lifestyle. You missed the point but I will indulge you.
With the majority of vegans, it’s not about what they eat, it transcends to what they wear, clothes, shoes. Furniture in the house. Products they use on their bodies, shampoos and conditioners. Moisturisers all have to be free from animal products as well as not being tested on animals. Now with that in mind can you be with a vegan?

OK,
No supplements here, just plant based diets? If yes then there is problem.. 90% of vegans have deficiency of some vital vitamins, they won't know it yet. That why I mentioned blood work.

At some point something will have to give that's why I said asked what will happen in their later years (you misunderstood me here - you said menopause), take carbs for example, it's good for you for energy. But when you get older you will need to cut down your carbs intake because it can accelerate the aging process. This is just an example, vegans can do well on their earlier stages in life, but what happens as we get older and the body stops producing some molecules? Will there be able to keep up with folks that get their proteins from animal source, (this is what I was worried about NOT menopause).

My friend was under strict supervision from his parents about his diet, his diet was the most expensive among his siblings, as in his meals where always loaded (the parents thought having a vegetarian in the family was a gift from the gods).

But how well do you know vegans?
Have you done and in depth study about them?
Have you found if they age well or not? How is their quality of life?
Do they look frail and fragile just to live longer?

If the lady in question cuts out supplements, but only stick to vegan diets THEN.....

Nope, not happening.

Three in my immediate family including a grandmother
Difficiencies arise when you have instances like frutarians or those that will only eat a raw based diet. As for vegans who have a very healthy balanced diet their quality of life is not lessened just because they do not eat animal proteins. The Rastafarian diet is a vegan diet, Hokkien, Hakka, and Buddhism are vegans same for some sectors of Judaism, Hindus ( not all) and those who follow the followers of Jain religion are vegan. If communities have been doing it for centuries surely the fact that they still exists and they have managed to propriate and live to be an old age is evidence enough. Portraying them like sickly weaklings is a bit of a stereotype. Like I said there has to be balance some vegans do not follow a balanced diet for anyone who’s diet is not balanced will have issues with their health including those who eat meat. Very few Nigerians actually eat fruit and drinking water is a battle. Some have urine the colour of tea with no milk.
A typical Nigerian diet is far from healthy, it’s high in sodium and heavy on carbohydrates so balance is essential.

I appreciate your preference but I disagree with your views which border on stereotypes and an example of one friend. That is just an anomaly.

Why is it so hard to accept and respect that people have preferences, no I am not pushing 40-50 and besides this is a forum to discuss matters instead you stoop low to level personal insults. I am disappointed as I viewed you as one of the enlightened ones.
