I think I uploaded my e-mail application as CAC and used my Nigerian address as company address. I don't think they much attention to the online firm. It appears to be primarily for the payment purposes.

Oleayo22:
I have proceeded to go to the NIS site and started application, but I am now at the point where it's asking for companies CAC letter, invitation lettter from company, etc and it won't let me proceed to the next page of application.
Please am I doing the right thing?

@all please I really need an advice on this,

I n wife was refused on the basis of “ties to Canada and home country”. Please do you think my staying back while she goes alone serves as a replacement for that ?

Also can you advice a woman to go birth alone considering it’s her first child?

Please I need advice from both men n women on this. As a woman who gave birth in Canada alone, can you advice a first time mom to go deliver alone.

And as a man how was it like being alone knowing your wife is going thru giving birth in Canada alone.

This things gave me sleepless night. I really need advice.

@hotstepper, could you please recommend an affordable hospital and doctor in ottawa?
Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Nonkala: 9:08am On Mar 02, 2019
Just do that immediately, let her apply alone and state in her LOE to further enhance her ties at home, husband has stepped down after narrating other tie of income. I did that and dt was removed.i intend to reapply for hubby if mine is successful.. My issue is purpose of visit
For tie in Canada, did u use an invitation letter

Thanks for the reply. Didn’t use an invitation initially, but told myself if I was gonna reapply, I will get one for her.

I don’t understand how u got the bolded part. Did u attach invitation letter for your previous application? If yes, then I guess the English there Refers to the person who sent you an invite. Then in that case I will advice u make sure all expenses n bill will be covered by you (from Accommodation to feeding n all as the person’s financial status may not b able to cover that). This advice is solely from English translation of the bolded part. No experience in the saying. Just plain reasoning

Pls guys I have few questions.

1. can I fund and use my GTBank dollar mastercard for my wife's delivery expenses in Canada.

2. I am applying for a visa from Kuwait where I work to visit my wife and daughter who's currently in Canada for delivery. What would be my most compelling reason for visit?.
Re: Giving Birth In Canada by jaykinde: 4:35pm On Mar 02, 2019
Please house, still waiting for a response.

jaykinde:

Please I have some questions, and need your help. In 2016 I actually wanted to give birth to my first child in Canada but somehow they denied me visa.My friend studying at that time gave me an invite they had their list of reasons which I can't remember and no access to the page cos it is now closed. My application was March 2016 without US visa. I finally got US that same March so I had my LO June 2016 in US. I also have a valid visa cos I did dropbox April 2018 renewed with out any issue. But I want to reapply with out any invite for Tourism and Childbirth I intend to declare. I am due in May. Please any tips/hints and information will be appreciated. @justwise @hotstepper please guide me
Re: Giving Birth In Canada by rowon(m): 6:15pm On Mar 02, 2019
Cmagnum:

@rowon, hope this helps you n it’s not coming in late.... I got a denial today, n the reason was “ family ties in Canada n home”.. like u, I had my money invested in Tbills (am a business man, can’t have my money sitting in my account for no reason) statements: 12m tbills cert n less than 400k in two other accounts (one where tbills was bought n the other family
Expense account), n also 1.3kusd in dorm account. Saw your message earlier but didn’t want to advice as I was yet to get a reply from my own application I used the tbills cert.

Now here are the things I would love to share with you, as to help shape up your own application if you are yet to submit n for any other who falls in this our category. I won’t say I don’t know why the denial came in as anyone might see us (myself n wife) as a young couple about to run away from Nigeria. My application was tourism I used hospital address, n I wrote a cover letter explaining our giving birth in Canada, the tbills maturity dates and the (3 out of 6) intend to use for this trip n d one for backup. Budget sheet for the trip (20kcad) and previous vacations flight n hotel receipts was also added. (I advice you go thru your own application over n over n also decide on weather to liquidate some of your tbillls to have raw cash like greatly advised here or use the cert as proof of fund availability...which ever pls take ur time to decide)

Now my options which I will prefer older/experienced minds to advice me on:

Should I let my wife apply n go alone while I stay back as a tie in nigeria(lol)?.....(It will hurt my wife if I present this option...)

Or should we give birth in Naija n can do that for second child when we are ready? (She won’t be happy with this, as there was a reason why we want to shape our kids life a little differently from ours.)

Pls advice.
Thanks bro, what are the supporting documents used and your time line.

hi, could you please message me the hospital and doctor you used in Ottawa as i want to come over to deliver too. thanks.

Imarama:

Dear Nairalanders,

Hotstepper our dear hotstepper, I arrived Ottawa over the weekend, my timeline for visa application was shared on the visit visa thread. Please I need information on
Most affordable hospital and gyneacologist. It will be nice to use a referred personnel by anyone who has had a good birth experience in Ottawa. I'm in Nepean
Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Toksvik: 9:15pm On Mar 02, 2019
how was your experience in queensway carlton? can see you havent updated since 2017.

YACAA:
Hello guys,

I was going to wait till the end of my whole pregnancy journey before posting all information, but I figured some people might need some information now especially as the thread has little to none concerning Ottawa. So here goes:

POE
Travelled @ 25 weeks with a visitors visa; had previously travelled with it and have been in and out of Canada on other previous visitor visas
Arrived at Toronto Pearson International airport with husband at about noon
We had filled declaration forms separately and were asked to fill the same; we explained we would be staying for different durations which is why but she said that was fine and thanked us for telling her but that what was more important was having all parties residing at the same address fill the same form
She then asked who we were staying with and the person’s location
Stamped to go

Hospital/Doctor search in Ottawa
Went to a walk in clinic (paid $134) very close to where I was staying and was referred to one of their doctors but the consultation fee quoted ($350) was too high

I then decided to start from the angle of checking the fees/location/reviews of hospitals I could deliver in before selecting a doctor affiliated to that hospital. I called Queensway Carlton and The Ottawa Civic Hospitals for delivery quotations; Almonte hospital (in a rural kind of area and not as equipped) was another option, as it would have been cheaper but it was so far off from me; Montfort hospital also had good reviews but was a bit far off as well.

I finally settled on Queensway due to proximity and good reviews though it was a bit more expensive than the Ottawa Civic (this hospital is especially good for high risk pregnancies).

NB: You can check the hospital websites for the list of OBs and their contacts

I then selected Dr.Chris Farrell as my doctor and asked to be referred to him (sister-in-law and a cousin had used him plus he had good reviews online); he was linked to the Queensway Carlton Hospital; he also had experience with patients with my pre-existing medical condition, which was a big plus. I did my booking with him even before I got the walk in clinic to refer me.

Dr. Farrell’s fees
1st consultation: $250
Subsequent consultations: $60

Tests accepted
Pap smear
Blood group
Genotype
HIV status
Hepatitis status
Malaria
Fasting blood glucose
Morphology ultrasound scans; checking formation of babys body parts, circulation etc
High risk ultrasound scans; checking risk of down syndrome et. al

Extra tests done

Oral glucose tolerance test had to be done @28 weeks since I entered Canada early
blood iron works ( Hb, RBC, WBC, platelets, MPV etc); I asked for that; total cost was $64.64 @ Dynacare lab
Ultrasound to be done @ 31 weeks +; will share cost when that is done
B streptococcus screening to be done between 35-37 weeks of pregnancy; will share cost when that is done

Queensway Carlton Hospital fees

Delivery room $3000 ($3495 if it is a C-section)---- this fee is in addition to mother and baby's night stay, which makes the Queensway very expensive
Mothers night stay $3140(for a private room); 3100(semi-private room with two beds and a shared bathroom); 2900(regular ward, which has 3/4 beds with a shared bathroom)
Baby night stay $1600
Epidural $1000
Pediatrician $500
Doctors delivery fee $1500-$2500
The above fees are based on my enquiries; I will let you know what I actually pay when the time comes

Accommodation

Though I had family there hence no need for rental, those looking for accommodation can check out air bnb canada ; one can also search kijiji.ca and search under vacation rentals

Things to note
-Compare different hospitals’ fees before selecting a doctor linked to that particular hospital (for example Queensway charges a separate fee for the delivery room and the mothers room after delivery whereas Civic did not and this excludes the doctors delivery fee for both)
number of consultations with doctor before delivery to be able to calculate amount of money to be spent before delivery
- If you have private insurance, please make enquiries as to how much of pregnancy/labour costs they will cover as this helps offset some of the bills
-If taking a taxi (Uber much cheaper) calculate transport expenditure too
-Consider your medical history and the facilities available at the hospital (for example the Civic is more suited for high risk pregnancies)
-In addition to the OB’s delivery fee, one has to also pay the paediatrician, (I don’t know if this is the case everywhere)
-The OB you see for normal consultation may not be the one to deliver your baby if he or she is not on duty that day; you can only be assured of this if you schedule an elective CS; all your medical records and files will however be forwarded to the hospital for review by the OB on duty
-Never rely on online quotes; call and verify whatever information is online

I will be updating as time goes on. Blessed day everybody

I think your wife should apply alone while you serve as ties.people have gone alone as first time moms. I understand your fears but since you have decided to chart a different kind of future for your kids, I recommend you let her try alone

Please, I am here again ooo. Who has had an interview with the Canadian embassy before? How did it go? What are the likely questions to be asked for TRV?

I received an event scheduled to bring the original document of a proof that I paid for my last medical bills in the USA.

What type of question will they ask me? @hotstepper,omobendel24,justwise and every other gurus in the house

1. What we did was to go with cash canada then I opened an savings account with TD bank which is what I use for all my some of my payments here. Though I will advise her to pay hospital and doctor cash as mine wanted cash payment.

2. Did she state in her application or POE that she is birthing in Canada? If yes to both or one of the questions, then say that you are going to witness and support her as you both are expecting baby.

I applied for birth certificate online using the ontario 5 in 1 application and it took 3weeks with several calls and faxing my ticket to them on urgency grounds.

So if there is a registry near you best you use them.

CIC account would be if you applied online as you would have created an account to submit your application.

If you log in, you can see the progress/update of your application and if you have any messages relating to your application. If you had any message you should get an email telling you to check your CIC account.
