Hello Nairalanders, I've been a silent learner on the forum since last year November.
And I need your assistance on available schools with funding for Postgraduate studies in Public Administration Fall2019. My main emphasis is to get scholarships and schools that can accept uploaded transcript for just the admission process.
My profile:
CGPA : 3.13/4.0scale
GRE : 288
Work experience: 3years @ Public Service
I've applied to two schools already, but I want to spread my opportunities to at least two more schools before time runs out.
Thanks for the anticipated assistance.

Please do F-1 ooo. J-1 is for an exchange program. Except your program is an exchange that is when you will do J-1.

Hello family,

UTEP has accepted my application to study Ms Construction Management (Fall 2019).
Please I Want to make a request about I-20 (F-1 visa) or DS –2019 (J-1 visa).?

What should I do next as regards to my Admission Letter?

Thanks in Anticipation for your response

Abeg run from this school, it is an unaccredited institution according to Wikipedia. Also most of these type of questions are readily answered by Google. You should endeavour to carry out research by yourself

Mbok, at that age, it's not advisable to apply for undergraduate studies.

However since you've spoken with various schools who're willing to accept you for graduate studies, why not give them a shot?

I beg, don't go to embassy with the undergraduate i20. It'd only give you a denial and decrease your chances of clinching the approval of your US visa.

One quick question: are you sure you've been following this thread since Part 11?

Thanks so much for this advice, I mailed Prof Farooq Kperogi on the issue and he said the same thing you said, thank you once again bro.

Alright, I understand

Abdulrahmon68:

Yeah thanks very much bro.

But the thing is even if I convert the HND and do masters with it as you said, if you want to get employment they will still ask you what you studied in your HND, the course you studied for HND will still always reflect, and the truth is am not proud of the course I studied, it's not a lucrative course and it's not well recognized. Though i didnt have any choice as at when given admission for the course. When you mentioned the course to some people you will still need to do proper introduction or saying what the course is all about. the course is "Office Technology And Management" they use to call it "Secretarial Administrative/studies back then before the nomenclature to the new name. Almost all the government polytechnics in Nigeria have the course and some universities also like " TASUED" .

Though i understand some job doesn't require what you studied before employing you, but this Dichotomy of a thing between HND and BSc, everything just join together with the course again. Naxo dey don dey talk am since over 5 years now say dey don remove the segregation between HND and BSc holder yet we still face the discrimination anytime we apply for job. This is Nigeria!

So my brother with all these challenges it's better I just go for an undergraduate programme so that I can have my Bsc and have rest of mind. I believe there is no age limit to studying, so far you capable in all ramifications then you are good to go.

Thank you.

I have completed my application and also gotten admission to the school for fall 2019 PhD but no funding yet. I had to send official hard copies of my transcript (sealed and Stamped) from my UG school to cleveland.

Predstan:

When did you submit an application to CSU. I chat with a representative who states that it cannot be uploaded. I have to mail directly to the University. Csuohio.edu.

There is no space provided for Uploads

Ok Thanks. Going by their GRE standard, I do not qualify for PhD. I applied for Master but I may discontinue because of funding. I am still awaiting response from Professors in the department

Good day house,
I have been a silent follower of the forum for a while now but I was not prepared to kick start my masters degree yet.
I started my application to Wichita state Univeristy for a Masters Degree in Management and Supply Chain Chain with STEM and 3 yrs option of OPT after graduation. I have 2 years work experience with the Banking industry , a year in an IT related firm and 6months with a Courier service provider. I am 25 years of age. The have been offered admission and have been issued the 1-20 already. However I have a few setbacks my First Degree is science related and different from what I am applying. Does my Work experience give me a better chance? Does the US embassy verify account statements? I have some savings but it would not be enough but I want to use one of my clients Accounts Deets as a family sponsor.
I would really love Experienced individuals on the forum to give thier candid undiluted and blunt review of my case. P.S I have intentionally not filled my Ds-160 form yet

Congrats on your acceptance to WSU. That being said, your first degree program should be related to the Masters you intend to study. However, this is not required for issuance of your visa. You can still get your visa. However, you will need to prepare a strong response as to why you are going for MS in Management and Supply Chain, which has a relationship with your work experience at the Courier Service Firm. Your age is also ideal. The US embassy verify statement of account now--if they take it down after a convincing visa interview. The consular may not take down your sponsor statement, so nobody here can say what will happen. You can use family sponsor, which I strong recommend.

Yes, finalize and decide who to use as sponsor before you fill this part of the DSFORM. Also, make sure the amount in the sponsor account is enough to cover for the whole tuition of your program (and still remain if you remove the total cost of the package). Kindly confirm that "Self" is not indicated on your I-20 as the sponsor, or else, you will have to stick with that and provide your own statement of acct.

If you have more questions, kindly drop them.

thank you for ur prompt response. Family was indicated as sponsor. I already have work experience for management track of the program in banking and experience in a courier firm for the supply chain. I am hoping that would be enough to switch careers. I honestly don’t want to use Oluwole statement. However accounts from A Dad or Mom I believe has an edge over distant family members.

lols. You better don't use Oluwole. You seem to know what you want and what you set out to achieve with this program. So, you know what to do. Do that and prepare for the interview.

Goodluck.

Hello,
When paying the visa fee, you are not required to indicate your preferred interview location. There are two times you are required to provide your preferred interview location.
1. Landing page of the DS-160 where you’ll be required to select an interview location before it takes you to the profile page.
2. When you are scheduling your interview appointment

If you intend to interview at Abuja, you can cancel the appointment, fill and submit another DS-160 form and this time be sure to indicate your preferred interview location as Abuja, update the new DS160 bar code on your profile before scheduling a new appointment. Before canceling your previous appointment be sure that there are available dates for the period you wish to interview.

Thanks to everyone here who helped me one way or the other.
I really appreciate you guys. Here goes my transcript

Vo: Good morning
Res: Good morning sir
Vo: Pass me your passport and I-20 pls
Vo: Have you traveled on another passport before?
Res: no sir
Vo: can I have the passport
Res: I said no sir
Vo: oh sorry I didn't hear that clearly. Why are you going to Austin Peay?
Res: Am going for my masters in computer science and quantitative methods with a concentration in information assurance and security but on my l-20 it was written there as Data modeling...(he didn't allow me to finish the statement)
Vo: that's ok. How do you want to pay for the cost?
Res: I was offered a graduate assistantship that waived my entire tuition with monthly stipend the rest of the cost will be taking care by my uncle who's into importation trading and distribution of LG brand both home appliances and electronics. I have his statement here with me
Vo: that's OK... I won't be needing the statement. The assistantship has covered everything. Where did you finish your undergraduate (I guess he asked that because I couldn't enter my educational history on my ds 160 when I was filling it. I don't know why the part is not coming up on my system.)
Res: Osun State University.

Vo: Why do you choose Austin Peay State University?
Res: I chose Austin Peay State University because they offered broad courses in information assurance and security. Their program incorporate field work with basic course. For example.. (he stopped me here)
Vo:thats OK. How did you get this assistantship?
Res: I applied then I was scheduled for a Skype interview, a week after the interview I received an email from the department that based on my performance during the interview, my gre scores, my undergraduate cgpa and recommendations, the department was willing to offer me the assistantship.
Vo: what do u intend to do after your study?
Res : ( but I thought he asked what the degree will do for me, so responded with this with the look of things in Nigeria cyber crime and attacks are becoming common place, sophisticated and damaging. Every organisation has (he stopped me and asked again)
Vo: what do you intend to do after your study?
Res: I'll be coming back to Nigeria to enforce whatever have learnt because there's a huge demand for cybersecurity experts here in Nigeria. A lot of organization outsource for this skill because its professional expertise... (he stopped me here, thats OK)

After this he started typing non stop and said the word *your visa has been approved, you will need your l-20 at the port of entry bla bla.
I collected my passport today. [/quote)

Congrats Sis. Please can you tell me how you went about your funding for Austin Peay. I recently applied for MEd in Education( I am having funding in mind) and have uploaded the documents needed but I just got an email from them requesting for a financial statement, official transcript, passport n ielts scores. All these weren't stated among their requirements when I was applying. Did u evaluate your credentials?

I have a question as regards this. For instance if i have $40,000 on my I20 as cost of attendance from the school. If my program is two years, will the VO multiply it by 2? and check it against my bank statement or they will just check the $40,000 against the bank statement.

Thank you

If you are sponsoring yourself, the V.O will multiply it by 2. But if you have a sponsor, they will use balance for 1year.

You should be concerned about get visa with the course since you don't have any experience in data science. Better you go for a related course to avoid visa wahala then switch when u get to the school.

What does he mean by consider me as an advisee and is there a chance of getting a GA from an academic advisor?".
