In my opinion, I feel they know u want to go and have a baby in Canada and did not declear it especially since you included your child's US papers. Also wih alot of ppl being denied by US, they know these ppl are trying their luck with Canada.

What was the questions? are you coming to have a baby and said visiting? Did you apply alone?

Exactly my thought. Well... i stated tourism and vacation as purpose and also.mentioned i'll be travelling with my son. Guess there is really no point re-applying

You mean one of the requirement is to provide baby's birth certificate? I haven't come across that in tourist visa application. You will be asked for place of birth and it's ok to include baby's birth certificate in your documents even when not asked

I made same mistake when applying the first time too n I sent a mail to the Lagos Vfs where I submitted, answering the question and attaching my application information to help refer details.

Later, I saw this link to change information of applicatipn under processing already:

I think you should go thru the link to see if it’s what you need. I believe it’s what you need. Hope it helps ...

Hmmm...re-read the highlighted part.

It looks like you've been banned from getting into Canada at least for five years due to misrepresentation.

My advise to you is to give this Canada journey a rest for now

Temi231:

Hello all, I finally went for the interview today and the VO asked why I didn't state I am going for childbirth in my application that there is actually a space to write it. I told him that is the reason why I pick others for reasons. He said I am not being truthful and they noticed I was recently denied US visa. I told him, NO, but I have a rescheduling 221g appointment with them soon. He also asked my purpose of visiting Canada. I told him about tourism and giving birth. He also raised a red flag for the accommodation the agent booked for me which is a hotel suite.

Anyways, he didn't collect the passport for me, He said he would need to discuss with his superior as he felt I am not being truthful. I got to my office and I received their mail.

See below: Does this mean I can't re-apply again. I am thinking I should re-apply with my husband making him as the main applicant this time around.

Thank you for your interest in visiting Canada. After careful review of your temporary resident visa application and supporting documentation, I have determined that your application does not meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). I am refusing your application on the following grounds:
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.
You have been found inadmissible to Canada in accordance with paragraph 40(1)(a) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) for directly or indirectly misrepresenting or withholding material facts relating to a relevant matter that induces or could induce an error in the administration of the IRPA. In accordance with paragraph A40(2)(a), you will remain inadmissible to Canada for a period of five years from the date of this letter or from the date a previous removal order was enforced.
You are welcome to reapply if you feel that you can respond to these concerns and can demonstrate that your situation meets the requirements. All new applications must be accompanied by a new processing fee.

@omobendel, justwise.

Please note that this is not Nigeria Embassy oh

I think that statement is trying to communicate that there is some kind of avenue for you to appeal with justifications of why you should not be banned but allowed to be granted visa to be admissible into Canada.

Í acquiesce to this, she has been banned, but a window is left open for her to "appeal with justification" so to speak. My advice will be give it the best shot possible, do everything in black and white, let them see you clearly and adjudge thenceforth.

@Temi231: address their concerns; the 221 (g) - technical refusal - matter with them as though you were dealing with the Americans, explain the "misrepresentation" issue of not declaring childbirth with all that you've got. Just try, let it be on record you did your best, I believe you will very likely get results!

Well, the verdict as stated is 5 years ban.....but if you really think you were wrongly given a ban and you have a substantial proof and you have extra funds I would suggest you reapply .....just for a try and explain as much as possible what transpire in the previous applications. But really no guarantee.......and please and please do it yourself cos all this agents ....hmmmmm.......

In another news it seems this people timeline is more than two weeks oooooo!!!!! Or anybody applied in February got response from them wether +'ve or -'ve?

This is true and fact. There is a space for others which you can indicate Visit and Medical. It is well with us all. Thanks, @justwise and omobendel.

If dem go give you, dey will so why lying in the first instance. To give birth abroad should not be a do or die affairs. We should try and redeemed our image as a Nigerians everywhere.

May God help us all

See her post here. She already knew better as to why it was important to declare of intentions to give birth in Canada with her first application.

She also mentioned that giving birth in Canada should not be a do or die affairs.

Thznk you omobendel. On my status page, it actually shows Refused not banned.

But on appeal, how do I go about that? The VO asked me an innocent questions which I feel that US didn't refuse me because I am scheduled for another interview which he asked for the date.

So I wonder where that was coming from?

So sorry about this. You should have stated childbirth or medicals ubder the subsection for others. Or simply mention it in your letter of explanation. Its just unfortunate. With the high rejection associated with mentioning childbirth, one would be tempted to just simply keep quiet. I see that canada os becoming very tough now

I feel they just want to see if I paid all my bills because I stated my first child is US citizen and I also attached birth certificate too. Anyway, I go show appearance. Will update you guys if there is anything. Also, they requested only for one document which is receipt of my last birth in the state.

I don't think the misrepresentation referred to in the letter is about the 221g interview. In my own opinion, technically, you havent been refused yet until you attend the interview. That you van argue out with them
Re: Giving Birth In Canada by placebo(f): 7:10pm On Mar 12, 2019
Reapply with your husband as main applicant might appear dubious in my opinion because you have already been banned and you may also affect your husband’s eligibility. Why don’t you try and appeal. I believe this may just be your best bet. If you succeed, you get to remove the ban.

Sure, that is not what was being referred to. Rather, it was the withholding/concealing of vital information which in this case was about her Canada birthing plans (material misrepresentation). But then, the 221(g) matter - I repeat, a technical refusal - was what was being talked about during the interview when the VO mentioned a US visa refusal lately, remember the info cross checking/sharing thing, that’s it, not any innocent question as the OP is presuming....

My pain now is, why are Nigerians always like this? I praised her very much in my heart when she said she was declaring, I understood quite alright that was huge, but alas she didn’t! How do you mean an agent? Please, I give up.

Finally Temi231; just like the Americans have technically refused you, so the Canadians have banned you for 5 years (no confusion in this). But I still say give it a shot, be as clean as you can be, and as convincingly too, you have a ban to wriggle out from. It is not over, still very much explainable. All the best!
