You have been given some good advice. I’ll add a few thoughts.

You need to decide if Law is the profession that you want and hence the career path you want to follow. Finishing a Law degree when it’s not your passion is not of much value and applying for a graduate degree in Law might not be worthwhile. I’m addition, getting into a graduate programme in a different field as your undergrad can be very problematic including the visa issues. So you need to decide.

While you decide and perhaps pursue other options, you do not necessarily need to abandon your current programme until you have obtained an admission and a visa. Bear in mind that getting into a good undergrad programme and obtaining a visa isn’t an easy feat either.

Hello there, please I'm quite new on here and would like to make enquiry as regards starting off my undergraduate studies in Canada. I plan on sponsoring myself financially. I need to know what are the things to do and things not to do. All the processes involved... I mean how do I go about studying in Canada? I'm presently 19yrs and a 400lv law student in OAU but really want to start all over again. Please I need someone to put me through. Thanks.

Please what documents did you submit with the online application?
Fleshly:
@Jnyuwa, Boss I contacted you early August via email on how to go about my submission. But just this morning I received a PPR letter, does that mean that my visa has been approved?

@Everyone, I'm kinda scared, I submitted an online application for visa and here is my time line:

Purpose of visit: Study Permit- PhD in Engineering.
Date Submitted: 4th Sept, I did an upfront Medicals.
Biometrics: 5th Sept
Biometrics done and updated: 6th Sept.
Medicals Passed: 14th Sept.
Passport Request: 11th Oct.

I'm scared because when I go through what many people say here regarding online submission - how much time take it takes, tbh, I was expecting my PPR in December and that's why I want to know the meaning of this PPR.

Lastly, when I checked my profile it's still on background check and they've not updated it. Please I'm kinda confused.

To be honest it’s very demanding , I got here on Wednesday and I just had the longest and decent sleep today
Adjusting to the time difference, weather (-18) my nose bleeding, skin dried etc and even good.. in 3 days I had met with supervisor, gotten school ID card, open bank account, meeting with the school rep.. Trust me 24 hours not enough here.. no wonder people cook their for for a week and store up in freezer which in 9ja it’s different..
I sure will be back to contribute when I am fully settled..

NB—please those who have reached out I didn’t ignore please just send messages again and to SoP reviews I will get it done ASAP ...

I think lag people will fit into here perfectly

You guys doing a very good job here. It's crazy how time suddenly seems to shrink as soon as you land in Canada. I remember some few weeks ago, with so many deadlines looming over my head, I kept on ordering food from outside twice a day for four consecutive days, simply because I felt I simply did not have enough time to go out for grocery shopping and prepare food. And the cold! Thankfully I did not have a nosebleed because I landed in August and had enough time to adjust as we slowly transitioned into winter. But I could still feel the moisture in my nostrils freezing up whenever I breathed in. The worst of winter is over now, and I can't wait for summer grin

Observation

A lot of people here seems to be waiting for their Admission Decision for Fall Term.

It is Imperative to know that it is way too early to Complain or worry, admission decision for Some schools(in ontario) for international applications could tarry till about June 23.

I noticed some people advising to send mails, as much as that could be necessary, you could still wait a while before doing that.

This is still the first week of March, you could let it wait till early April to conclude on their decision.

Some school will also notify you if you weren't admitted as well.

Definitely it will come if you were selected, and most times it comes at the right time.

Thanks for your reply...

So the way it works is that when my sponsor earns money, she usually just transfers the portion she wants to save to her mutual fund account (since that yields better interest as opposed to just keeping it in her bank account). So in terms of inflow and outflow, that is high. However the closing balance isnt much at all.

For more context, my tuition has already been covered 100%, the only money we are showing now is just for living expenses (my program is just for one year).

If I decipher correctly from the tone of your writing, you using a third party sponsorship which isn't bad given a show of commitment is already in place of your tuition fees already covered.

If as claimed I am right, you can get the person to transfer the funds into your account which certainly in my own opinion makes it much explainable and convincing.

On the other note, just try to get the person to build the account for such sponsorship purpose to sustain a sufficient balance because most times "family composition and other unfamiliar circumstances" are used by the VOs to scrutinize applications which in some scenario makes it infeasible for the VOs to assess the proof of funds on a sole standing reason evident in the inflow and outflow of an account.

Your best chance in beating the issues of financials is getting your sponsor to build the account and backing it up with one of the investment letter/certificate plus the evidence of your tuition fees and living expenses in your account
