hilaryxoxo: Hello ma, if you check the CIC website https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/eligibility.html it actually says to apply for a study permit, you MAY need to provide a police character certificate. Also, one of the conditions of getting a study permit is to prove you will obey the law, have no criminal record and not be a risk to the security of Canada. This makes those who submit PCC justified to do such. Please lets not mislead the public. There are people who have applied without submitting all the documents requested by CIC and still got their visa's because we do not fully understand context of their applications. Trust me, most times, people only tell you the surface of their stories, you don't know all about those people's application. I must admit some of the documents I see people submit here is way too much (this is my opinion which is subjective) but who knows maybe that is what will do the magic for them? When I did mine I submitted my dad's death certificate, mum's reference letter from bank, letter form my school, referral letters, at a point my mum got tired and said she was not sending any document to me again because she had to scan them and send to my mail. But I know myself too well, if I did not submit those extra documents and I had gotten a refusal, I would blame myself that it is because I did not submit those documents that was why I got a refusal. Good news, CIC does not say submitting too much documents is a crime. Also, you spoke about these CIC guys being fully aware that Nigerians can always get a PCC even if they have criminal records. You are right but it will shock you that even in UK, it is a document they request from Nigerians for us to get an SIA badge to work as a security guard (and yes they know our country has no record). They just love to see it P.S All applicants, the documents you see here are just to guide you. Your first source of information should be the CIC website and then you can come back here to get ideas from peoples timeline to serve as a guide. peace. 6 Likes |

Please is it advisable to use an E-statement generated through Mobile App, instead of going through the Nigerian bank stress |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by JustMellow: 12:32pm On Mar 12, 2019 |
Nuel182: Insufficient funds loading... The total funds available for your studies can not in any way be lower than the total cost of your program alone let alone the amount of your room and board and other expenses hasn't be included. Rework on your finance(estimation). The inputted figures especially the tuition fees was erroneously filled. |

Please friends, what is the difference between motivational letter and SOP. Which one is better. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by JustMellow: 3:30pm On Mar 12, 2019 |
Nuel182: Yes, input your tuition fees which 18k plus your living expenses which is 10k summing up to 28k then you should do well to have exceedingly above the 28k as total funds to be financially sufficient |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by JustMellow: 3:34pm On Mar 12, 2019 |
obazi: No difference, same thing different title but most academic institutions refer an interest letter as "motivational letter or letter of intent" whilst this letter is popularly referred to as statement of purpose for Canadian visa |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Awuuga: 5:16pm On Mar 12, 2019 |
A friend applied last month with upfront medicals. She uploaded her slip but was surprised to get a medical invite this week. She has contacted IOM, but they insisted they have sent in her documents. Issue is, it’s not reflecting in her account. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions on how to tackle this? |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Frankrobbn1: 5:29pm On Mar 12, 2019 |
Awuuga: This is actually not a problem. It happens occasionally. Send the E-MEDICAL SLIP the second time to Kenya (Nairobi) Immigration department via this email: nrobi-immigration@international.gc.ca The subject of the mail should bear URGENT, along side her FULL NAME, UCI NUMBER, APPLICATION NUMBER AND DATE OF BIRTH. Also take advantage of THE NAIROBI WEBFORM You should state in the mail that the applicant has already completed her medicals and attached is her E-medical slip. You would request that her medical result be appended with her application and updated on her MyCIC account within the shortest possible timeframe. Lastly, thank them for the success so far in the applicants application. 1 Like |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Frankrobbn1: 5:36pm On Mar 12, 2019 |
Questionner: Have you received a biometrics validity letter? Once you receive this letter via your MyCIC account after medicals has been completed, you should expect an approval within 2-48hrs. Although, it's never certain as some applicants get refusal after passing their medical exam and receiving the above letter. |

Hello nairalander, I submitted my online application on the 10th of March 2019 with upfront medical, I received a mail for biometric request on the 11th of March 2019, I did my biometric today the 12th of March 2019 and shortly after the biometric, I received my tracking number to check my application status. I have checked through the tracking number but was told I have no record. My question is : what happened to my cic account where I usually receive a prompt and update? Where will I be checking for new information? The cic account or the tracking status code I received today. Can the 2 account be linked together? Help is needed please. |

Nuel182: The form should be filled this way; Tuition = 18,000$CAD Room and Board = 10,000$CAD Others = 3,000$CAD Funds available for my stay = 31,000$CAD 1 Like |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Frankrobbn1: 5:57pm On Mar 12, 2019 |
Mykaelolalekan: You don't need the local tracking number. To keep track with the progress of your application you are required to login to your online MyCIC account. |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Questionner: 6:08pm On Mar 12, 2019 |
Frankrobbn1: i havent oh...so i guess i should wait for the letter first. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Frankrobbn1: 6:11pm On Mar 12, 2019 |
sillysassysally: I don't quite catch that. Funds available for your stay is the total sum of your tuition + room and board + other (miscellaneous expenses). Cost of living is meant to be 10,000CAD and 11,000CAD for applicants heading to Quebec as stated on IRCC offical website. I hope this answers your question? I saw your PM, I will respond soon. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Frankrobbn1: 6:13pm On Mar 12, 2019 |
Questionner: Oh; Okay. You will receive the letter soon maybe this week or so. Accept my congratulations in advance. |
