Your behavior is very funny. Within hours of being accused, 2 people have already responded to accuse you, and you say only 2 over 30? Don't you remember that before you were saying only 1/30?

Did you consider that others may also come forward in days to come?

Now again, he submitted a small portion of a book, I scanned through. Now if I am thinking from your direction, why didn't my client pay me for the bad work I sent him? He blocked me, and requested he funds back, and you expect me to pay.

This guy did a job for me... In milestones (like I usually do)
I submitted the first part of the project to the client, and client went MIA, Kindly use Google to know about scam clients on Upwork and other freelance companies.. So I should pay you, when the client is UNRESPONSIVE, right?
Now if I wanted to scam you, I'll definitely ask you for the whole job right? Nigerians are something else.

Whatever happened between you and the client that contracted the work to you is none of the writer's business. Agreement is agreement

The more you post, the more I'm convinced that you're Fidelmalek aka Forevermore. I still await your list of five active handles out of the 30+ you claimed you hired

In a nutshell what you are saying is

He sent you a sample and you approved (hoping he will make no more mistakes).

Then you are victim of your own negligence. The guy sent you a sample and you validated and told him To continue. Whatever you hoped at that time does not engage him. You are clearly at fault here.

When we additionally consider that you are actually outsourcing work that should be done by you, without disclosing the full details to your contractors,

It follows that you are at fault, in my reasonable opinion.

what is all these nonsense?
I hire a writer, he sent me a short text, I scanned through and immediately told him to make corrections.. Which he agreed to. Check attached file...
He later sent a pile of jargons, and I am to happily accept it, and pay him, noting that my client cancelled the entire project...
Plausible!
Now at the bolded, this is really funny.
Freelancers every where in the world, including every nairalander does it. So how's this a crime?
And again, your reasonable opinion is highly unreasonable..
Reread it again, and see if it makes sense

You are a victim of your own lack of diligence. From your Screenshot there is no complain about quality or errors. Only a specific part which is to be reformulated. Then again you don snap the date nor the context.

Secondly, you have 30+ writers and you are given an important project. You went and took a newbie for the project, meanwhile 30+ experienced writers are working with you according to you. You could not contact them to ensure quality.

A sample was given to you yo judge. You were okay with it except a few lines that were to be reformulated (according to your own Screenshot). You told him to continue.

Not to mention that you are highly paid for the work and give peanuts to he that does the real work. Now you want to pass your misjudgment unto your contractor. You are the one guilty here.

So if you sell a good to someone, and the good is bad, you expect money from the buyer? Even when the buyer shows you it's bad?

This will be my last post on the topic. I don't know either of you, and I have never been to Nigeria all my life. When I judged the quality of his work you thought I was objective now I am biased!

Anyway, in business you win some and lose some. Reputation is everything in business and more than money. Your refusal to pay a ridiculous 15k or even negotiate to 10k shows that you are the exploitative type. When the writings are accepted and you make huge profits for works you do not do at all, you are happy.

NOW is the time to bear a loss. A great businessman would have pleaded with the guy to accept even 5k due to the circumstances and not the mumbo jumbo you are uttering. You don't understand business at all, and someday you may eventually learn the hard way.

This desire to always exploit others, all the wins for you and the losses to others is the typical Nigerian mentality you claim to disapprove.

As far as I am concerned, I don't have any case... So since last year I started posting job openings here, I've not heard my name been called out for an outright scam (where a writer wrote, and I absconded). This is really damaging, and I deserve an apology at the least

Well said. He gets works from foreign clients and hires writers here for peanuts. Now to even pay a fraction of the peanuts is problem for him. Talk about a greedy and insincere person.

He's operating with a foreign upwork account, who knows how he came about the account. He collects jobs as a writer which he isn't, then sub-contracts the work. I doubt if he fills in his clients about this.

How can one person hire more than 30 different people to execute one type of project within a short period of time? It just doesn't make any sense, there has to be a reason why he doesn't call them back and go on to hire someone else. Either the issue is with them or with him, I'm suspecting the latter here.

@Benscolari. Even if a person you hire falls short of your expectations, you should have at least compensated him for his efforts. If you're the one that expended all that time and energy in getting a work done and the person that hires you (who'll be pocketing a greater percentage of the cash generated) refuses to pay you a dime, how will you feel?

It doesn't matter if your clients paid or not, you have been making thousands of dollars off foreign clients. So why is a paltry 5-10k too much for you to give someone that worked for you. If you had done that, this mess would have been averted.

thanks for your input. Now, I'll over look the part where you called me greedy and insincere.
I am a writer. A good one (not blowing my trumpets, but I'm good at what I do). Now how do I satisfy all clients that bring tons and tons of jobs for me?, and at the same time too. I outsource to writers here. Which I've been doing since last year. Every freelancer does this, so I wonder why I'm being picked out
At the bolded, as if doing a crapy job wasn't bad enough, he went ahead to throw tantrums, insulting me and CURSING me. So I should have swallowed all that and sent him money? HOW?
Anyways, to clear my name completely, I'll pay him a part of the money, and will not want to have anything to do with him again. At all.
Thank you

If this is truly the work GiftedMind1JEM submitted, then I must say it was poorly written and nobody would want to put money on that. But it all boils down to the type of agreement you both had. Besides, why are you taking up jobs you cannot deliver and contracting them out for a small fraction of what they're paying you? That's shady

Benscolari came chatting me for a job, an e-book precisely.

The word-count is 6,250.

We settled for N3/word, which amounts to 18,750 for 6,250 words.

He said that once I deliver the job, he would review it and pay me. Please refer to the attached picture for the evidence.

On the 17th of February, which is about a month now, I delivered the job to him.

Just then, he started telling me about his client that disappeard, saying that he would only pay when the disappeard client reappears and releasees his funds.

He sent me N6,500 some days later, and that was after much pressure from my part.

I tried to remind him that my agreement with him was not N6,500 but N18,750. He said he would pay up when his client approves his funds.

Suddenly, a third party became a factor.

We never factored any client in my agreement with him. He is the client I know.

I was asking about his choice to make getting my money dependent on the wayabout of someone we never considered in our bargain? But up till this moment, he has not provided answets to this question.

My money with him is still N12,250 and it is almost a month since I did his work.

PS I'm finding it difficult to attach the picture of my chat with him where he assured me of payment after reviewing the work. I don't know if it is network or something.
