Did you see that one of the majority owners in ACCESS sold their shares of over a billion units in 2018? Do you know why they sold? If it was indeed underpriced they should have bought more. Jim Ovia bought more of Zenith Bank shares during 2018. I don't have interest in Access Bank.

Ok dear !! smiley wink cheesy

Btw, without setting aside ur reservation on who SOLD, I think it will also do u good to 'ask about' who BOUGHT from the purported seller and why they did.
Remember; "For every seller, there is a buyer. ...the future will prove which one of them had made a mistake."

It is well !!

The way investors in the NSE fearfully run to sell their holdings just because others are selling out of panic reminds me of a funny real life experience in the year 2001 during my university days in d university of PH.

UNIPORT has an 8-storey building called Ofrima hall. There was suddenly panic and confusion which injured lot of students, with some breaking their legs after jumping from the 5th floor without really enquiring why they were running around 2:00am when we went to read TDB.

It was later realized that the cause of the tragic situation was a student who while sleeping in a class on the 3rd floor woke up suddenly and started running thinking it was a gunshot when his own rechargeable lantern fell.

This funny event thought me a big lesson in life. Just as how this above story had casualties, thank God nobody died, that is how there are many casualties in the NSE who run to sell just because others are selling. It just shows that we are all humans, but it's good to know why others are running before you run.

With due respect, what stock has the bolded ever shed analysis on for people to buy on this thread. But rather, the bolded comes out to unnecessarily check and abuse those that has painstainkinly conducted their research before coming out to post it, even without anybody paying them for it.

I respectfully advice you stop encouraging this unwholesome act please.

U have spoken well my dear !! ...especially with the part in bold.
This 2 NUGGET summarizes it all;
"When the herds are 'running in or out of a place' within the market, watching ur back to COMPREHEND the reason for the run is twice as important as 'running with them', and just as important as sticking to a workable Investing STRATEGY.
...unless of course the target company was 'in the forefront of that run'."
~Sinclair

"The stock market is like an unending race with plenty of obstacles and more 'virtual than real spectators' running with u.
...but along the way, it ALWAYS rewards those who 'can see through the other side of those obstacles' and run it WITHOUT tiring out."
~Sinclair

That said, some people might sometimes have 'other reasons for running.' ...with some, unavoidable, while some others could be justifiable.
The most important thing is to ensure(like u infered from ur story) that 'one does NOT get injured(incure losses) while embarking on such run.'
The KEY?
"To find out if u can SUCCEED more in the stock market,1st find out if u have the RIGHT TOOLS that can navigate through the worst of times and which can stand the test of time.
...otherwise, go and 'buy' it."
~Sinclair

It is well !!

if u have experienced what happened in 2007/2008 u will eve run along with them. I know people who lost their lives cos of the crash i can count numbers of people who where retired from Mobil Oil and put their gratuity in stocks at that time 40m to day is 1.5m and some have died. since then i have told myself is better for me not to gain than to loose my hard earned monies and i thank God i have all my investment have all paid in the long run. Oga kolaish, with due respect, stop getting too serious with some posts, especially that of deepsuk.
Who doesn't know her here ....except the person is new.
I'm just catching fun with his/her posts and I'm well aware of your first statement - reason I said earlier that he should come and recommend stock to buy for me. Who will say Access, diamond or transcorp is scrap?
Anyway, she's the type that doesn't send anybody but will say her mind no matter what.
Who knows, some of her observations might be true in few instances.
While I normally condemn the abuse part, albeit jokingly, I dont think anyone's opinion is irrelevant here. My take on this matter. tongue
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by onegentleguy: 4:21pm On Mar 20, 2019
Unconfirmed report reaching me from some strong source has it that following from the court sanction of the ACCESS-DIAMOND BANK merger today, the shareholders of DIAMOND who hitherto are QUALIFIED for the 7 for 2 equivalent share allotment in the enlarged entity shall also be eligible for the 25k FY 2018 dividend declaration by ACCESS bank.

Again, this lends credence to my several ealier assertions and analysis that the then shareholders of DIAMOND are the biggest winners of this merger.
On the flip side, this will only aid with pushing further up the price of ACCESS as the DIAMOND shareholders who qualify now have something to make them 'wait/hold a bit longer' without selling off their stake in the new enlarged bank(ACCESS) post merger.
...ACCESS closed on massive bid @ N6.50 today.
Like I always said then, Mr DIAMOND wins pre merger, while Mr ACCESS 'resurrects'(to win) post merger.
There is a mutual exclusivity with the terms of the merger.

It is well !!

My brother I understand your point because the stock market is very volatile and capital preservation is key but know of people who sold at a loss due to fear of the unknown and I think that it is good to learn from ones experience sometimes. The stock market will definitely reverse at some point in time. I have leant that sometimes, it is more beneficial to stay longer in the market unless here is a genuine reason to sell.

I don't think we can compare the 2007/2008 era of manual trade through stockbrokers and now, the new technology built era in stock trading where you can trade yourself without any stock broker delaying you unnecessarily when you want to sell.

I still have the transcorp shares I bought in 2007@#7.5 and first bank@#33 due to unnecessary delays from them to sell when I mandated them to and that cannot happen now because I can sell myself but I still think that one should apply caution before selling even to d extent of doing so at a loss just because everybody is running.
