Good day folks. Please I need some advice.
I gained admission into uni at the age of 15, and my Dad made an affidavit declaring my age to be 17 because he felt they wouldn’t accept me at that age. Unfortunately I was not aware of the gravity of this affidavit. In fact I completely forgot about it and I have been using my real age since I graduated.

Now I am in the process of applying for a master’s program. My passport which has a lot of travel history and which I have used to travel to the Uk and US bears my real age. My transcript from my university will bear my “official age” . What do I do. I have not yet applied for my transcript

Since you already have affidavit of fact for your official age, i will advise you take an affidavit for your real age (that is the one on your passport), stating that is was wrongly written.

Other opinions are welcomed

A medical exam done in advance (upfront) is know to speed an application. On the other hand, if IRCC requests for a medical exam to be completed while processing your application, your chances of securing a TRV is relatively high.

Some of the tests which are pertinent to be conducted for immigration to Canada are:

1-) Full Body check up
2-) Chest X-ray
3-) Blood and Urine Test
4-) HIV Test
5-) Syphilis Test
6-) Eye Checkup

In my little opinion, I would prefer you allow them request for it. With this, you can easily predict the success rate of your application. Above all, the ball is on your court to decide which best suit you.

Thank Mr Frank, does it mean admission can be done without WAEC? I don't have NECO.. please explain further...

Are you currently seeking for an undergraduate admission into a Canadian institution? WAEC is a compulsory requirement for your admittance into the university. Assuming you're a heading for a post graduate studies in Canada, WAEC is not a compulsory requirement for visa application, as I have seen folks that didn't include one with their application and were approved.

I hope this answers your question

Not VERY necessary as it may sound. However, if PA is currently employed in his/her home country, PA might decide to include one with their application to evidence his/her personal financial establishment. Above all, is not a compulsory requirement as far as PA's parents can cater for their expenses while in Canada without being a burden to the Canadian government.

Hello frank, please I would like to have your email address if you dont mind, I sent an email request previously but there hasn't been a response. Thanks.

OK... Thanks
Frankrobbn1:

Calling an employer for verification is at the discretion of the visa officer and not a set standard. There have been cases where they do so, but for the majority, I would say they do not. I believe they only do this if they are not convinced the business is legitimate or they wish to confirm your duties directly with your employer..

The best option is to inform your HR and give heads up before submitting your application.

I'm afraid the only possibility I see is for your husband to go ahead of you and later request for you to come. This age disparity is taken seriously and the documents where the ages are stated are too important to miss. You must avoid anything that has to do with your transcript to avoid a ban!

Good morning, I have a question for you. Is it mandatory to attach a copy of your original WAEC certificate when applying for a TRV? Reason why I'm asking is because I used the online copy of my result in applying for admission. I did that because they printed my original WAEC result with a wrong date of birth and it's different from the one I have on my passport. I want to make a police report stating that it got destroyed during the last flood last year. Thanks in anticipation of your prompt reply.

Ask someone from your school if theirs had their real age. I was scared of this age issue till I got the student copy of my transcript. My age or date of birth wasn't stated on it so I was able to apply with it without any fear.

Thanks my people. I appreciate your responses. I will also see if I can persuade the Student Affairs at my school to use my real age if it happens that transcripts bear the age.

Frankrobbn1, Austacus, Qudkom.

Thanks all for your contribution.

My situations is such that I am not sure I can claim sponsorship from family since I have been working for over 10 years . About POF, I just recouped my saving and sold some equipment and properties to raise enough funds. And in this case, the funds are fresh in my own and wife's accounts.
Do you still think I should just attach the account statements for myself and my wife, then explaining the circumstances?

What else can I do?
Judging by the fact that you've been working for quite some time now, it is only fair to think the VO's would expect you to have considerable funds to sponsor yourself.

1. would your wife be travelling with you?
2. Do you have a business you run with registered CAC documents (This will help with home ties and if you wont be travelling with your spouse you can always claim you run the business with her and she will be handling the affairs pending your arrival)
3. If the funds available can cover your living expense+Tuition for a year+ funds for your family while you are away then you are good.
4. It seems you've been out of school for quite sometime and providing a timeline for your studygaps, a very effective reason for going for the program and all will be important.
5. I have seen an application where someone got sponsored by his father-inlaw.
6. If the funds in the account are "lump sums" and have no correlation with previous funds in your account then you have to explain vividly plus that might spooke the VO's into thinking you are trying to sell things off because you plan not to come back.

P.s: Most of what I listed are secondary to what you asked but also goes a long way to adding depth to your application. All the best.

You know some people dont actually scan their transcripts when submitting their visa applications. I will advice you scan the original waec certificate, bsc certificate and nysc certificate(if you've served) only. All the best.

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by dedecoder: 11:15am On Mar 24, 2019
Yes. In my first app, I only submitted SOP. But i think I didn't hammer on certain points very well that's why the confusion set in. LOE is only necessary if and when you are reapplying to respond to the concerns raised. Save for a reapplication, everything you want to explain can be done in a single piece.

sillysassysally:
wait... Is there a difference between LOE and SOP?

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by dedecoder: 11:31am On Mar 24, 2019
For those concerned about the age discrepancies on their documents, perhaps my experience can help. The date of birth on my transcript is not the same as that on my WAEC certificate and certainly different from the one on my Passport. Either the month, day, or year differed in all the three!

So, what would I do? The correct date of birth is on my passport anyway. I proceeded to the high court with my transcript and WAEC certificate to secure an affidavit stating that the date of birth on these documents were erroneously printed. As such, I declared my correct date of birth as carried on my passport. That's all! But note that this singular feat is very important because I won't get an admission in the first place let alone TRV if I had left it unaddressed. The school frowns at age disparity in documents and I think the embassy too will.

I believe that if the error is on your passport, you would need an affidavit and cert of birth to get it corrected at the Immigration office. This may be tedious and a bit expensive but not impossible. Once it's done, you are good to go.

WAEC Certificate is not a compulsory TRV requirement for a Post graduate applicant heading for PGC, Master's or PhD.

How about when the person is applying for the M.Sc program itself? Wouldn't the discrepancy create an issue with the school?

Thats where the affidavit comes in. That way you can also communicate with the school and explain yourself. You won't be there when the VO's are scanning through your application. So I'll advice you scan the documents I listed earlier. It's better to explain yourself to the school than to a VO
