To add more, I remember the confederate cup against Uruguay, even with the carpenters, we were not run over. We put up a strong fight and no one came at the end to give excuses. Final point, the man's coaching career wasn't even that long, who knows he might have improved in his weaknesses as a coach. Even though he could be stubborn all the players he fought against, he eventually invited them to the Eagles at some point, eg Yobo, Osaze, Uche and even Sone that was turned to a leper even when he was playing well.

Tbaba is correct.

And Isaac Okonkwo is not in the picture either. The guy between Yobo and Kanu looks like Efe Ambrose, but I stand corrected.

can everyone see how he maturely answered the question? he may or may not play for nigeria in the future but he at least has the sense not to burn bridges (looking at you akpoguma) by labelling playing for nigeria as a fallback option

charlesemeka85:
Felix Uduokhai has refused to rule out committing his international future to Nigeria in the near future but is focused on this summer's European U21 Championship in Italy and San Marino.

There had been talk that the Wolfsburg defender was in contention to be included in the Super Eagles squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations but Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr later changed his mind after admitting that brand new players will not be considered in the group.

Uduokhai continues to flirt with the Nigeria National Team unlike 1899 Hoffenheim's Kevin Akpoguma and Hertha Berlin's Jordan Torunarigha, and this time he has suggested that he still has time on his hands to make a decision on his international future.

''I have heard nothing (from Rohr). My focus is on the European Championships in the summer, I want to be there,'' said Uduokhai to sportbuzzer.de.

''I still have time for everything else."

The 21-year-old Uduokhai popped up with the match-winning goal in stoppage time as Germany U21s beat England 2-1 in a friendly on Tuesday.

The Annaberg-Buchholz native has ten caps in total for Germany's U19, U20 and U21 teams.

Who dey compare omeruo to Ekong.

Omeruo, the perpetual love anew whose football debt has been stalled.

So , solely because of omeruo, leganes climbed the table? How many goals did hr score or match winning assist did he provide.

Ekong is better by far

So you dey judge defenders by goals now?

On Rohr....
he have tried even though he has shortcomings, that shows he is human. You see, I don't like blaming players or coaches simply because playing and coaching ain't easy as we see it or better still watch it on TV. majority of guys here blaming Rohr,if given the SE WC squad can't qualify from a group comprising crown FC ,Sunshine stars and Remo stars.
The only option now is for NFF to retire Salisu Yusuf and bring in Unknown but proven tactically astute coach maybe from our league. This will complement and strengthen Rohr's weakness.

God bless you, i reduced the way i criticize coaches during my NYSC i was the Platoon team coach.... then i know coaching a team is never easy, my team was so defensive minded and disciplined but scoring goals was a big problem, at a point i was clueless on what to do..... though we later manage to come out 4th but mehn that sojourn wasn't easy many of the forward line were not discipline, you will tell them something and they will go do another thing in the field.
Lolllls*

please that Enyimba Coach should be drafted in to edge out Sanusi.... immediately

If we can use Mikel Obi to win another AFCON now, tomorrow will take care of itself. Competition is all about winning regardless of age.

Yea. Siasia is better tactically than Rohr until he starts calling his boys...

Our local coaches aren't that tactically poor...their players selection is their biggest undoing! that was how Keshi took Gabriel Reuben to the world cup!!

And left Sone Aluko and Hope Akpan behind who were doing very well in thier careers at that time.

And worst of all Obagoal.

Hahaha. Remember that it was valid to ha tgen. Because of the unprecedented support and the congenial atmosphere in the player locker-room. We all agreed they could make the quarter finals and some of us dreamt of our guys making the semis. So, yes the WC was a valid tourney for us

Agreed without hesitation or reservation.

I will remind you and oga forgiveness if either of the following happens:

Mikel refuses to play in the AFCON but we still play well and possibly win it

Mikel gets injured and is sidelined this missing the AFCON (a big IF ooo, please i am not praying for this) but we still play well and possibly win it

Mikel is selected but his impact isn't felt or is so minimal because others have stepped up to take the mantle.

Rohr chooses not to even look at Mikels direction when picking his team for AFCON (very unlikely but who knows) but we give an excellental showing at the tournament.

Fact. No this is nairaland so gbam!

I have mentioned it here countless times about local coaches and strange player selections. After the ridiculous world cup and confederations cup selections (remember Gambo grin) Keshi gave Gabriel Okechukwu number 10 shirt in one of our AFCON qualifiers. Also remember Salami our every present top striker? Haha

What about siasia starting Umar and Amuzie against Egypt in Kaduna. Foreign coaches don't work like that.
To be fair to Keshi - Gambo was probably the most inform(or one of )in the NPFL as of that time.

This Obagoal own was one I found funny. Keshi liked big strikers because he liked them drifting wide to become target men for the long balls. Then they hold up play and the other forwards and creative players join them there.

That was why he did not want Martins, Uche and to a less extent, Osaze striking. However, the whole media was that he must play them when they did not fit into his tactical plans or ready to bend to fit in.

He actually did try Martins on one or two occasions before sidelining him and tbh Martins didn't cover himself in glory in those few games. Uche he made a uturn after the WC.
Even Sone aluko and akpan were eventually drafted to the team, after him, did anyone call Martins, sone and akpan even when they were still performing?

Yes after Keshi, Oliseh invited martin but rather used him as mildfieder..Even Keshi gave martin a chance against Kenya which he didn't utilize.

Then why did he play Emenike as a CF in the WC? For me he messed up in inviting Ameobi over Brown Ideye. He said Ideye wasn't scoring yet he replaced him with Ameobi who was even poorer.

The Confed Cup is meant to be a dress rehearsal for the world cup. With Emenike out, I didn't too mind him inviting Gambo. Besides, Gambo only played a few minutes.
Ujah and Ideye played more minutes than he did. Based on how he sets his team out, the only player I can think of he'd have invited over Gambo as at that time was Eneramo.

Ranieri and Pellegrini have won the premier League. Will you pick them over Klopp and Pochettino who have never won anything?

Not belittling Keshi's achievement but winning 1 title does not make one better than other who haven't. Keshi was good enough to achieve more save for his selections wahala.

Oliseh was good enough to achieve more save for his short temper, poor man management (fighting with enyeama etc) and unprofessionalism (Twitter manager grin)

Siasia was good enough to achieve more save for him thinking he is better than he actually is and bias towards certain players who no other managers in the same job EVER gave a look in, with good reason.

Rohr can achieve more if he is braver in his setup against stronger opposition.

We shall see...
