As much as I admire Xiaomi though and currently using one of their low budget phones, one thing I noticed on this thread is we overhyped the brand as if its better than Samsung or huawei.. But funnily when someone with a lesser brand hype their phone we tend to condemn it... Xiaomi doesn't have a stand in Nigeria but I can bet you when they fully integrate into our market they will become as useless as tecno and Infinix....

Remember likes of tecno and Infinix started with low budget but awesome phones until they became Oga....

Worldwide the Xiaomi Brand is kinda accepted with targeted market but if they start targeting our market this low cost stuff will definitely change...

Poco is 100 k plus Samsung and IPhone are more expensivve.... SO CUT Infinix some slacks though...

Let's just enjoy our Xiaomi

Good day house I really will appreciate your candid advice and opinions on this phone issue.

Will be relocating soon outta Naija and I need to buy a phone that has a global reception both in Nigeria and Canada and I don't want a Samsung phone cos of its fragile nature. I have searched all over and the best I came up with is iPhone and I don't like iPhone too.

Pls can Xiaomi phone be good for that, does it have a global baseband and what type of it's high-end phone can I buy that will meet my desire goal. Kindly help make this decision pls. Thanks

Samsung fragile? That's a new one. Well you can go for the OnePlus 6/6T as they literally support all global bands but if I were you I would still be considering the Samsung flagships.

I don't agree with your assertion, they have moved to other countries like France, UK, Spain, in a move to improve their global portfolio and their MO of keeping prices as low as possible have not changed.

The hype about Xiaomi has always been you get good value for your money.

LOLL one thing you seem to forget is even if they come to Nigeria and they price their devices ridiculously expensive, we still have the option of buying from Chinese websites which would be way more cheaper. Who cares if they come to Nigeria or not? It is not over-hyping.

Have you tried changing the kernel to custom based one?
I came across some kernel changelog claiming they could fix some screen issues.
Check the dedicated page of your model on Xda for possible fixes.

PS: The kernels won't exactly fix the screen issues, but the phone should work as expected when they are installed.

I checked, there was this genom kernel that i tweaked, it worked for sometime then the issue returned, please if you have the time, kindly help me check for link to the said kernels

Search for the lte bands in Canada, then mirror your phone search based on what you found earlier. One+ should do

I get you points ooo but before Tecno or infinix came to Nigeria have you ever heard of them They brought cheap reliable phone to Nigeria but our eyes had not opened then we were still enjoying the likes of blackberry and co
So if xiaomi enters Nigeria market they can't Bleep up because they already have a world-wide recogniction that they won't want to jeopardize.

It's like WhatsApp you don't need an application for. Downside is the recipient must be a Xiaomi user with the mi message activated. In summary it's like apple's iMessage and it uses data
