Hello guru,
Great job you are doing here. God bless!

Please, I am a novice. Just got myself a Nissan xterra 2000 vehicle few days ago. Please, could you be kind and tell me things I need to know, the diy on my part, the changing of oil, the kind and types of engine oil, break oil etc that are healthy this kind?
Also, battery voltage , general maintenance and the pro and cons ?. Your reply would be so appreciate -----don't even have an idea where to start and go from here.

Please help!

Not a bad car. It has a rugged engine. read your owners manual for all these info( you will find them there) and you are good to go.

rebuilding would have been a better option , but with the current level of available expertise, please toks is better.
What to look out for:
1.Check coolant passage ways and ensure you do not see any chalk- like coating. if you do, that engine has been used in Nigeria Before and
water was used as coolant.
2.Check the interface between Top cylinder& engine block and ensure that graphite(paper as they call it) gasket has not been used.
3. check all gaskets and ensure it has not been supported or replaced by Gasket maker(Black or white gum). Anywhere such was originally sued from factory, it should have a slight yellowish tint to it.
4. Check all bolts and be sure there is no spanner marks(evidence that is might have been slackened before)
5.Check engine number inscription and compare with the engine currently with your car to avoid any foul play.
6. Go with an experienced person.
7. The VIN number of the car that engine came out from is usually riveted to the engine body. copy it and run a comprehensive VIN check to have an idea of the Mileage.

Use 5W20 if the engine mileage is less than 150,000 miles( on the Toks engine)

Thanks a lot.
This will be very helpful.

Kind regards

Hello sir! There's this 03 avalon 3.0 L. I'm using atm. No CEL. Last week I filled the tank to brim and zeroed my odometer and got only 193 miles out of it till the fuel Guage turned red.
Two days ago I bought fuel of 2k/13 litres and on my dashboard it showed 38miles, but my odometer only read 18miles till fuel Guage turned red.
Problem iv noticed is that the fuel mileage reading on my dashboard drops faster than anything. From 38 miles it will drop to 30miles, from 30 to 24, 20, 15, 10, 5 and the next thing is 0 mileage but my odometer will be accurate to record for me like only 18miles and my fuel Guage turns red again.
Could it be that the fuel is pouring away somewhere cos I frequent filling station every now and then because the fuel Guage drops so fast.
Car is 250k miles, problem free vehicle cos the right fluids are used on it.
Please any suggestion/solution for this?

All they kept saying is "u hv to ring d engine" without even considering other possible causes as u just suggested now. Where is ur workshop located? Ur contact? Or betterstill, can you recommend any engineer in abk. Thanks.

Could be the operation of your cooling fans (which should be normal)

another possibility is the compressor bearing going bad (cheap fix)

No CEL Sir.

Perform tuneup: Spark plug change, engine air filter, EGR/ Throttle body cleaning. 250K miles is not beans.

Also ensure that timing belt change has been performed (considering the mileage)

USE GENUINE PARTS ONLY.

Please my liberty Jeep 08 shows check engine on dashboard and after scanning we found out catalytic converter and O2 sensor needs to be replaced. I bought new ones and they were replaced. Fuel consumption reduced and no more noise from exhaust but the check engine signal is still on and three new lights are on which are service 4WD and I can’t change from 2WD to 4WD Plus the road traction signal which is obviously due to the 4WD system when I checked the manual. Please what’s the solution?

The AC is not blowing as much as the Corolla I use what could be the cause as well?

i eventually found an engineer. He said, dere is a very high tendency for d car to start smoking if the valve stem seals is replaced. So therefore it must be ringed along side d valve stem seals replacement. How tru sir.

Hello motorguru, thank you for outstanding support.
Pls I uses 2007 honda pilot with an issue of high fuel consumption, after scan it generated a code P0 172 and later generated another code, P0 430. Now the car no more accelerate faster as it use to.

On P0 172, I've worked on the injectors and they are OK, checked for exhaust leakage and it's OK, I've not changed any sensor yet.

Pls I need your assistance.

Recheck all engine seats. Ensure the ones replaced are originals and not Chinese clones.
scan vehicle if there is any check engine mount and ensure that the active engine mount vacuum supply( located in front of engine ) is in good working order

Scan the vehicle for codes.
for ac, check operation of condenser fans, ensure condenser is not blocked, check refrigerant charge.

for the P0430, ensure your catalyst is not blocked.
That can cause acceleration problems
