6. Oil. I'm proud to say that our oil and other southern states' oil is what is keeping Nigeria's unity. If not for our oil, Nigeria would've separated. So, Rivers is the mother of Nigeria—we feed the entire nation. Without our oil money, Abuja wouldn't have been built. Without our oil money, Lagos wouldn't have been the 2nd go-to state in Nigeria. We have sacrificed a lot for Nigeria as a mother. Though, we don't control the oil money, but we are happy to be the breath of Nigeria. 10. Our Governors Love to Work. Sadly, there is usually election crisis, but fortunately, our governors love to work and build project the moment they win. Amaechi was a project man when he was a governor. He built schools in all communities in Rivers state that didn't have any. Wike is also a project man, he's constructing and patching roads, building houses, and other projects. Unfortunately, maintenance is the only problem we have. Some of your points refers to my state especially tribe issues, marriage, oil, scholarships. They hardly expect us to marry from our tribe alone. We are more liberal minded and free. I love the freedom and liberty especially in the terms of not being bound under the tradition of calling people who are not so much older "aunty" "brother" especially among siblings.(my brother is over 10years older and i call him by name). Even after giving birth, you are not mandated to call mama this or papa that  . Our delicacies are unique and a lot...ekpang nkukwo, editan, ataama, afia efere, afang, ukom, etc. My people are sexually aware and they talk about it freely. dominique:My sister, in the local government I stay, we have nothing to do with the government. We don't even know if government exists. Our greatest joy is free light from year to year and nothing more. The last time we saw NEPA was in 2004. The free light is from Agip and Total, not govt. If these oil companies had left it for the useless government, we would've been suffering by now like the rest of Nigeria. So, I still do insult the government to make sure they give constant light to the entire nation. With light everywhere, business will flourish and Nigeria will grow technologically. Crime and lack of light is keeping the nation backward. |
