A relationship officer working under me earns N80k as salary every month. He takes 1% every investment he books as commission every month. He currently has about N40 million in his CABAL. Please calculate how much the guy makes every month.
Life is easy bro!

Take the job and do if for three to six months, ensure u gather sales experience, from there u can start applying for fmcg jobs and God been by ur side u will excel.
Remember don't waste that 50k,ensure u save at least 35k out of it, be friendly with your boss.
Sales experience will take u to d top,u equally need to learn driving, google fmcg sales strategy and build ur career from there.
Leave the teaching job asap and take this one,all the best
Bro's saving 35k out of 50k..
I have been there and done that with a sixty k job..
I could only save 10k a month while literally starving..
Even then the savings is used for rent at the end of the year.

That you canot do it doesn't mean someone elsewhere isn't doing it. Stop using your mediocritic way of reasoning to analyze other people's lives and earnings. This topic was about the guy who wants to quit a teaching job for a DSA position with Stanbic and not this lazy man argument you want to start.

Guy, please! You are sounding so pathetic. Who told you that guy can't do well in his teaching job than being a DSA. Extra lessons both at home and in school is cool and comes with loads of cash. He can do great things being a teacher.

No one is discouraging him from being a DSA if he weighs his opinions and choose the best for himself. Your lies is what I can put up with. You sound so terrible with your lies.

Thank you and I will appreciate if we stop quoting each other. Thanks

Firstly, I'm a DSA with a bank and right now I'm considering resignation. I've spent over 1 year with the bank, I'm currently on 10 days leave and when I resume on 24th of which I believe salary would have been paid, I will tender my resignation. Let me explain your job role to you in case you don't know. As a DSA you are a foot soldier and your core duty is to achieve a target of account opening and other bank solution which include cards and other bank solution. You may also be given SME target. Not meeting it is not a problem in your first 2 month. But subsequently it becomes an issue when you consistently fail to meet those target. Remember you are to work under every circumstance so under the Sun in the afternoon you must work. You will also have deposit target, for me it is 1.4million naira monthly but I've never even gone pass 300k average balance. You are also to book loan and manage customer. One of the fear factor is that you can't go pass 50k earning as bank always have graduate trainee and your chance of getting converted to a full staff is very slim. Although you can also converted since some people have trend that part before and are in a better position today.

Conclusion
I don't regret taking a DSA job role with my bank. In fact the experience is worth it. But I think the effort I put into my target if channeled into my own business, I will be a better person.

Before you choose weigh your options well, research your job, meet those who are currently working and ask about there experience( you can ask anonymously) see whether you can cope.

Don't make a decision because you felt your mate are more successful than you. Most of them won't tell you what they are going through.

This is absolutely the most sincere response I ever saw on nairaland for the past 5years...o boy, u deserve an award...

please! abeg...I need ur acct no: biko, I wan' credit u... ure absolutely spot on (in Murphy Djembas voice)....

I graduated in the year 2015 and did my NYSC in the year 2016 to 2017. Ever since, getting a job has been something else. Well, last year I took up a teaching job in a private school and the salary is around 26 thousand naira. I have been on it for a year now. I hardly have time for my self considering the number of classes and periods.

I recently got a job with Stanbic bank as a Direct sales agent (marketing) with a salary of about 50 thousand.
I am afraid of taking up the offer because of all these bank targets and how to meet up with the target. I am afraid let me not lose the job I have now and take up this offer and can't meet up with the target.

Pls those that have done this DSA job and others can do well to advise me and give me first hand experience and way of meeting target.
Thanks.

I chose to quote you so you can take note of my comment.

Go for the bank job, beyond your salary you will learn more useful skills that will help you in your future endeavor. Sales skills, customer's service skills, communication skills, corporate organisation experiences and so on.

Don't be afraid of those target, IBTC runs personal and business banker departments in which you will be posted to either of the departments.

I've done DSR before with SCB after which i moved to difference MFB and I later port to Real Estate and I'm now the CEO of Pemila Properties Nigeria Ltd.

In short, you stand to gain much more working as DSR in IBTC than the salary.

Let I forget, I have friend still working as DSR today in one of the branch of IBTC in Lagos, he have seen another offers but the guy refused to move due to commissions he's earning beyond his salary.

Welcome to corporate world.

1. do you have a goal to achieve in life
2. why or what made you to set the goal
3. how do you achieve your goal

my rules
1. there will be time money will be sending you message
2. you will be sending money message and money too will be sending you message
3 you will be sending money message

if you cannot manage your salary extra time won't help

I hv a friend whom we fell out Because he conned me into opening current account when I started my company because he needed to meet target 2 years later he was sacked because he couldn't not meet his target. peace off mind is one thing I know that job doesn't give and its the same as long as you are under somebody. none of the two is good choice but if you have goal to achieve in life you can make the best of any situation.

Its a shame that black Africans are slaves in their own land but then again they are the cause of it due to your thinking pattern (no offence); if you were frying akara and were a sales man in all these hours you have been putting in you definitely will make more.

Why should indians be lording over Nigerians in nigeria?? Simply because you allowed it to happen.

And by the way, Indians are reputed to be among the worst people to work for world wide.

Just resign, you definitely deserve better - even if you went to india, you would make more rupees than you are currently making in Nigeria.

For every staff that agrees to work Saturdays and Sundays out of desperation, you are normalizing this trend in Nigeria. Someone I know recently rejected a job offer from an Indian boss over Saturday working; the man simply just hired just the next desperate person. You need to understand that after you leave, because you have already agreed to weekend work, he will also expect it from the next person.

You also need to watch your health/ working all the time may lead to health complications.

Its not always about where you are, it's about how well you're doing wherever you are.

its less than 10% DSA (marketers) will confidently say that they ive consistently meet their entire target month on month. pick up that job cause working in the bank will expose you to a lot of opportunities and people that could even help you. there is a lot to gain from working in the bank. i can tell u of a truth, it will shape u. I've been a DSA getting to 2 years now with union bank. I've gain so much. and am considering leaving the bank to start up my company (marketing firm) which i want to get all the certification before i resign. PICK IT UP don't let fear of the unknown to distract you.

waiting to see you in the industry.

So which of these are true about Indian bosses (please be honest and help out fellow nairalanders):

a.) No regard for worklife balance - works you as much as possible (you have already confirmed this one).
b.) Tracks what time you get into the office; if you arrive like 7 minutes late, you get queried?
c.) Is controlling - doesnt listen - do as I say attitude?
