Kaduna Nzeogwu that carried out the coup is from Niger Delta, Achuzia that blow up the bridge is from Niger Delta.

The same people will tell you that there is no Igbo in Niger Delta and refer this people as Igbos.

The only problem of Nigeria is the OSUS

The international community didn’t react because they didn’t see it. Those men had their bodies hidden inside military barracks.

But Try to kill 1000 igbo civilians in today’s world not to talk of 10,000 or even 60,000.

Try and see if you can hide their bodies.

The British supported you guys back then in the cover ups.

There was no internet or cellphone or even global satellite.

It was perfect condition for Nigeria to get away with such scale of genocide.

The international community saw it because ipob posted the pics online, they did nothing, thousands are being killed everyday in Cameroun what are they doing abt it? Nothing.

Correction. There was no battle at Niger Bridge the battle was Onitsha waterside. Achuzia blew up the bridge to slow the advance of the Nigerian forces. Murtala then sent thousands of soldiers across to Onitsha where they started to loot and destroy like they had done in Asaba. Biafran soldiers rallied and totally massacred the Federal forces. Some managed to swim back to Asaba to tell what happened.

Murtala the butcher of asaba, high on drugs and overconfident after his babalawo assured him he would win, sent wave after wave of men in boats across to Onitsha but they were massacred also.

You guys should stop reminding us of these. You will nit like what we will remind ylu of. So let all be quite

Save us your tale by moonlight.

The coup was planned prior to 1966 by Ibos to take over government. Ojukwu had ambition as early as 1963...long before Western crisis..... to overthrow government. They have been plotting this thing soon as Midwest was divested out of Western region. They wanted a total take over of oil producing regions and that was Midwestern region and Ogoja and Cross River area. They actualized this Ibo plot in 1966, January 15th.

The presence of people of other regions in it does not absolve Ibos of guilt and cruelty. Banjo was in Biafra....should we then say Biafra was not an Ibo war?

The coupists had no credibility after murdering govt officials. Whatever they say cannot be given any weight of truthfullness, including their false assertion that it was a plan to install Awo.
Just like Ojukwu said Biafra advance into Ore was to save Yoruba. Save Yoruba from what? Since when has Yoruba appointed Iboman as a savior?

You ooze so much ignorance! Nigeria gained independence in late 1960 and only fully weaned herself of British overlordship in 1963 when it became a republic with Nnamdi Azikiwe becoming the first president of a truly independent Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the Queen stopped being head of government.

Now, even the army only had its first Nigerian commander in 1965 when Maj Gen (Sir) Christopher Welby-Everard passed the mantle to J.T.U Aguiyi Ironsi. Our first crop of officers were never trained in Nigeria; from Bassey (NA/1), Ironsi (NA/2), down to the level of Ojukwu, Gowon etc - even Kaduna Nzeogwu and his mates (who were babies in the army then) were trained in Great Britain, Ghana, U.S. etc. Now, the question is: how could an army, largely supervised by Great Britain up to around 1965, have had the distraction of abhoring and nurturing renegades who wanted to take over power for their ethnic nationality? C'mon, at that point, it was an outright impossibility to even give thought to such an idea.

The crisis in the Western region occasioned by the toppling of Awolowo, the promulgation of martial law in the Western region, imposition of S.L. Akintola and imprisonment of Awolowo for high treason by the Tafawa Balewa-led central government, led to total breakdown of law and order. It came at a time the world was looking with keen interest to see how the new black nation would fair under self-rule, and the reality could not have been more embarrassing! The junior officers, Nzeogwu, Ifeajuna, Ademoyega and co., had cause to strike.

Now, you sold yourself out as an ignorant - grossly uninformed - fellow when you submitted that Ojukwu planned the coup! In the circle of the enlightened, that is an unpardonable bullshit! You would be booted out for that crass display of buffoonery! I won't say more on this, as it would amount to giving airtime to bullcrap.

Now you talked about Ore and the 'attack' on Yorubaland. True to type, another bullshit! The Federal Government of Nigeria attacked Biafra first; it shot down all avenues opened up for peace and stability - it killed Aburi. What the Eastern region did was to defend and fight back for dear survival - it never really was ready for a war.

Lagos was the capital of Nigeria then, and as such, Lagos and every corridor that led to its gates were a viable and justifiable target. If you were not a simpleton, you would have known that in war, the first target that lights up is the capital or central armament depot of the opposing force. Were you expecting the Biafran forces to match on Maiduguri? The push towards Lagos had nothing to do with the Yorubas or anybody; it was as a matter of reflex.

If the federalist had stopped the attack on Eastern Nigeria and its peoples, commencing in Kano and other parts of the North down to the East itself, the war would have ended naturally!

The world would be saner if uninformed folks like you stopped tendering warped and buffoonish opinions in areas where you know nothing about - this is too rampant in Nigeria! It is a 'crime' to talk where your knowledge is weak or lacking!

Get out of my face!

FemiMaduka:

You are ignorant (I mean no offence)! The crisis in the Western Region had taken thousands of lives and was fast taking up a civil war dimension, as the Akintola camp and Awolowo camp were ready to pull everywhere down. The central government headed by Tafawa Balewa (who was a stooge to Sardauna) was in support of S.L. Akintola who many felt was not even worthy to lace Awolowo's shoe.

The crisis was very messy and bloody. It created discontent all over. It was obvious there was no end in sight; particularly, the central government was not going to be able to quell the bloody crisis because it was found to have a hand in it!

The problem is that we do not read! This whole thing happened not very long ago, barely seventy (70) years ago. Many of the central actors (including Igbos and Yorubas) have come out to state that the coupists planned to install Awolowo as the Head of government - even Ojukwu, who was very averse to the coup (and actually fought and quelled it in Kano), revealed that the coupist targeted Awolowo to head the government. Never! You blockheads never learn anything of worth!

The leader of the gang, Kaduna Chukwuma Nzeogwu, was more Hausa than Igbo. He was born and bred in Kaduna. And the guys that knew him testified that he had a nationalistic fervor...

The excuse that the 1966 coup led to the pogrom against Igbo civilian population is very silly at best. The core north had killed Igbos on a large scale as far back as 1953, that was almost a decade before self-rule, and thirteen (13) freaking years before the coup!

The plan truth is that at that time Igbos were dominant in both the military and in the civilian sector. The North felt that natural jealousy and insecurity. 'The Igbos were taking over everywhere'. And also, at that point, there was a preponderance of Igbos in the officers corps of the army such that there was no way the army was going to be involved in any major military operation that there wouldn't be a dominance of Igbos.

How can a country thrive with this much misinformation!

Everything about you flat headed iPods must be twisted to jealousy yen yen yen. When you go about looking for trouble and get dealt with, you quickly play the victim and twist story to you being envied. I nor know wetin una get wey them dey envy. Useless chest beaters.
