He'll take it to VFS Global, it's in Lagos. Whenever he gets any email to go to the VAC (visa application centre), he should take his passport to VFS Global, Manor Hall @ Ikate Roundabout, Lekki.

Having 2m won't suffice as total funds for your studies, you have to show an estimated sum as tuition fees which varies plus 10k LE.

Given to your situation, you will be needing a sponsor

I can get the sponsor. Is it necessary to pay for the tuition and study after the visa is given.

Tuition fees = 13,500
Room and Board = 9,000
Others = 3,000
Funds Available = State how much is available to you. It is not the summation of your total expenses as @JustMellow wrongly stated in his answer

Thanks brother.

Hi cutem,
Congratulations on your admission

I think you would still need to provide proof that you can cover your tuition and living allowance. Your total financial support/funding from UBC isn't sufficient. Secondly, you can also dicuss with your prospective supervisor about this funding, he might be able to provide more.
But with what you currently have , you need to provide this proof.
Goodluck
Cutem:
Good evening house, I am new on this thread, I just got admission to university of British COLUMBIA for PhD in electrical engineering, I was giving TA ship of $3,000 CANADIAN dollar in my admission letter and a partial tuition waiver of 3708 cad dollar, I read in this thread that one need to provide proof of fund for sponsorship of 10,000 Canadian dollar, do I also need to provide this proof since I was giving this TA do I also need to pay my tuition before I apply for student visa.

Third Party sponsorship

I have noticed a few issues regarding the use of 3rd party sponsorship and I'd like to make a few remarks to the best of my knowledge.

3rd party sponsorship is the use of individuals/organisations that dont have a direct relationship with you or have their own dependents.

It isn't impossible to use a 3rd party sponsor, but a lot of people find it hard to get the required details. A VO needs to understand why someone that isn't directly related to you (father, Mother, husband, wife or siblings without dependents) would want to sponsor you. The very first thing they need to understand is:
1. Has the 3rd party sponsor assisted you financially in the past with concrete EVIDENCE! .
2. Can you explain vividly the dependents of the 3rd party sponsor and how this won't affect future assistance.
3. Can you explain why a (3rd) would want to spend so much money on you!.

so ideally there isn't a perfect way to do this or a magical document to convince a VO. However if you can get the following among other supporting documents then you are fine. Also note the older you are the harder it is for a VO to believe your case and you can get flagged for rejection based on "Personal finance" or inadequate reason for embarking on an expensive program.
1. Show proof the (3rd) has assisted in the past
2. Explain vividly the (3rd) dependents in a separate LOE. And back it up with documents
3. (3rd) financial portfolio
4. Rather than the (3rd) stating in the letter of employment that he/she promises to do this and that let the person pay a reasonable sum perhaps tuition. That way the LOS will have a statement such as
" I have paid the applicants 1st semester fee has my own quota of support towards the applicants studies and prepared to do more in future".
You will notice that the (3rd) has shown considerable support to convince the VO rather than making empty promises to the VO on supporting.
This is just a few tips and there are so many other things that can be done to help your application. God bless!

I think the 9k for room and board is also inclusive of 10k for upkeep required by IRCC. Total estimated cost required should be like $26,500 i.e tuition and upkeep. But a $30k budget for the programme should not be bad, the additional can be for unforeseen circumstances
JustMellow:

Tuition fees - $13,500
Room and Board - $9,000
Other - $10,000 (indicate your LE here)
Total available funds - $32,500

make sure your sponsor have sufficient funds as closing balance(after the total funds set aside for your first year studies) and a stable source of funds that can show/prove more available/unrestricted funds for the subsequent year(s).

Unfortunately tour application is 28days old. There isn't anyway you can contact cic because it is very well within the average processing time range. I know cic makes people anxious but just keep calm and be positive.

Bros, as your name implies Justmellow.
JustMellow:

Hello godsong,

I should have skipped this post but i just wanted to point out something you might know or not, maybe you already know since you insinuated I was wrong.

You should want to know that there is no standard format filling that section of Room and Board, and Other except for the Tuition fees which varies. That section only gives the VO the budgeted/estimate of the funds available to an applicant which is likely to change. This i have experienced personally from past applications that has been successful.

What matters most is for an applicant to have sufficient funds that won't be easily swallowed up by the total available funds as stated on the form.

I guess this is what you inferring:

Tuition fees: 13,500
Room and Board: 10,000
Other: 3,000 or 4,000
Total available funds: sum total of the listed figure. Which everybody has considered to be the standard format.

FYI: I owe you no explanation, and the capturing of your beginning sentence was a direct fist punch which gave me black eyes. I tried to be as polite as I could be, addressing you which was difficult.

Good day!

Be prayerful and keep waiting. It will soon be your turn. Canadian visa processing in nigeria is a bit complex in terms of waiting. It will all end in praise. Though you applied a bit late according to Canadian visa standard and you should have done an upfront medical. I guess you are a first timer like me and just making use of this forum?

also the current waiting period is 9 weeks and you are just barely 4 weeks. if its getting to close for comfort you should be considering deferment of your admission.

From experience i will suggest ACCA rather than ICAN. ACCA gives you a very big edge, converting to CPA is very easy compared to ICAN, with ACCA you just have to do two papers to become CPA which is LAW and TAX. also with CPA certificate you can claim a 50 POINTS in Express entry for a canadian certificate that allows you to practice. With ACCA you can work as an accountant even without CPA, CPA just makes it sweeter. Also knowledge of how to use excel, power point, SAP, ERP and other accounting software is a great advantage.
Qudkom:

Ms Jenny, there aren't any straightforward answers to your questions. However I will point somethings out:
1. The money available isn't enough!
2. Your age depends on what you have to show for personal assests and finance.
3. You have to have solid reasons for embarking on an accounting program that can be done in Nigeria.
4. Account for all your siblings and mums dependents

P.s: my advice for you would be to complete ACA exams in Nigeria and IELTS and apply for express entry. I know 2 people that used this route. Good luck. Also accounting is a tremendous profession in canada with good pay but takes a lot to attain the qualification

Hello, hope my response is not late.

If I remember correctly, I think some of those boxes are optional, apart from the tuition fee(Pls confirm and correct me if I am wrong)

For me, when I filled that section of the form, I only just filled the estimate of my first year tuition fee, omitted the other boxes because they are optional and the filled the "fund available for my stay"

Hope this helps.

Thanks

hello brothers and sisters, preparing to fill the study permit application but I have few questions to ask on the funds section.

The program is undergraduate Four years. Please if for one academic year (8 months) the tuition fee is about 13,500 CAD and the insurance, books and other required fees are 3,000 CAD and campus accommodation and feeding for two semesters are 9,000 CAD, how will I feel the spaces containing the TUITION FEES, ROOM AND BOARD, OTHERS, FUNDS AVAILABLE FOR MY STAY?

Thanks for your answers.

Could someone kindly explain if there is a required time frame between having the required bank balance and when the study visa is actually applied for? UK for instance demands the required balance be in your account atleast one month before you actually file in your visa application. Duno if same applies for a Canadian study visa

I lease I have a Canada study permit I got January this year. But I did not travel again. What am I to do?
Am I to cancel it and if yes how do I go about it?
Or am I to leave it expire on its own at no consequences?

2. Secondly can I use a study permit as a tourist visa to Canada? Or it’s impossible. Thank u

TRV UPDATE 28/04/2019

Hi Nairaland fam,
Happy Sunday!!!

Over the week, we had only one approval that was shared... Apart from that, things haven’t changed much. I still want to encourage those that have not shared their timeline to please do as this exercise would help us establish a timeline around how CIC operates. For those that have submitted their timeline but haven't shared all the information we need, please help us in sharing the outstanding information. In particular, we still need information on school resumption date and application type (new or re) from the following people; Godatwork23, Oni2019, docsaj, Cutieflaky, Klem28, Udomas, Ancy 26, Omarzx, and Iykedpetes, while we need information on the date that Valprincx upfront medical status was updated to passed. Also, if anyone has received an update (i.e. medical requests, eligibility, etc), please share because as it stands now, almost all of us are still on background check.

By the look of things, it seems as though CIC is giving priority to those with closer resumption dates. Roughly 90% of the people resuming in May have all gotten feedback on their application – even though some of them applied after some applicants resuming in Aug-19 and Sep-19 applied.

In addition, Processing time on CIC website has fallen to 9 weeks from 10 weeks in the preceding week and from about >20 weeks last year. The trend going forward is left to see but we can only hope that it continues to trend downwards. I reckon this isn't a peak period.

Finally, if you guys have any ideas on how we can present this information better or what else we can add to it or remove from it, I am always open any adjustment that'll make this better.

It shall end in praise!

@ sillysassysally, keep up the good work. God bless you. I applied via paper route, and knew about linking to an online account a month after application through this platform. After linking my account, I saw : you have passed your medical exam, there was no specific date stated to that effect. Thanks.

Good morning, pls guru in the house I have a problem here. I submitted my visa application via paper which I provided all the necessary documents including my valid passport on the October 9th 2018, in which I got a response on the December 3rd 2018 demanding a one year bank statement ticket. I provided and sent the necessary documents demanded via email on December 17th 2018. After then, I linked my paper application to an online account (gckey) where I can view the status of my application. I got a response on the April 16th 2019 which I was approved and my valid passport was requested by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. After I got the message, I tried tracking my application through Visa Facilitation Services (VFS global) but my document hasn’t been dispatched, which my application is still under processing according to them.
My problem is that I did my application via paper, where I submitted all my documents at the Canadian embassy in Lagos which my valid passport was submitted also. And they still requested for my passport, maybe thinking I submitted online. Any suggestions will help please. What I’m I to do.

Since you got an online update that your application has been approved and hence a request for your passport, and you said you already submitted it during your paper application, I would suggest you visit the VFS Global office to enquire about your document. However, I believe others in the house will throw more light on this.

Good day the good people in the house, please I need your honest response to help me advice a friend properly. A friend of mine wants to go for a second master's degree in Canada, currently she has a PGD & a master's degree in the same discipline from the same school but wants to go to Canada for a second master's in a related discipline. Now the challenge is that she is planning to submit the PGD certificate as her highest qualification in the application for a TRV to avoid the VO raising unnecessary red flag by wondering why she is going for a second master's degree instead of a PhD. So please I need to advice her on this, is it OK for her to be silent on the master's degree qualification and state her PGD certificate in a bid to avoid doubt on her purpose of travel?

Your advice please. Thanks
