Google the scholarship and learn how to apply on your own. It's pretty easy, you don't need anyone to apply for you. Start from now to:

1. Browse Chinese schools offering your course.
2. If the course falls under the scholarship or any other scholarship offered by the school.
3. Prepare your application documents.
4. Look for a Chinese supervisor (not mandatory but will help if you made 2.2) preferably before the year ends.

GET STARTED!!

You will seek help someday in any facet of life and you will be given solutions the way you gave op.

You mean, ALL lecturers will see a hardworking student who will do well, but will try to frustrate him so that he will perform badly in ALL of their courses? I doubt this.

In my time, we heard some lecturers were knacking students and collecting bribes, but these lecturers had strong respect for anyone who showed promise in their courses. We also had lecturers who were only interested in students doing well or failing. They have no business with knacking.

So, it's hard to agree that ALL lecturers will just be plainly wicked and drag down promising students. Have things gotten that bad to the extent that only bad, bad people are employed as lecturers? Really?

I don't buy this oo

Promising students ? Baba.... e dey happen. In my department, a guy was getting 4.5 CGPA in his final year. They told him plain he can't come out with a first class. Right now, I have a friend who just because 1 lecturer doesn't like him, he has been failing him since. Just his course. I was giving d in my IT and I did everything right, same person that did the IT with me in the same form got a B. I approached the lecturer, and was told that it wasn't my final score which when the main result came out, it was. If you try to report a lecturer, you'll get an extra year. If you're a girl, better be doing church church or don't dress well, or look dirty, or know a lot of higher staff. Stay humble. Things are happening. Enjoy.

Chinese Government Scholarship application in Nigeria is kind of complicated. I applied this year online and was asked to submit hard copy documents at the embassy but on reaching the embassy I was told that there is nothing of such, that Chinese Government Scholarship is a bilateral agreement between Chinese government and the Nigerian government therefore, federal scholarship board is incharge of the nomination process. But there was nothing of such on FSB website. It was a total waste of time and resources.

Bro, I understand your pains. At least, I think I do.

Now, you said you graduated with a 2:2,. That's not the end of the world.

Firstly, google for websites that post scholarships which fit your profile. After this, subscribe to several of them. You should be able to get notifications from them in your email regularly.

Try to get relevant research or work experience for your program of interest. You can volunteer if you have the time and financial wherewithal for it.

Try and write the GRE and TOEFL and aim for very high scores. Even if you don't end up using them, just have them. Such high scores will boost your profile.

You can also try to apply for a Nigerian MSc and do very well. I mean....excellently, jaw-dropping well.

If you are a biological/health sciences person, you can send me a mail

All the best bro and do not let the past determine your future. It is well with you

You r so funny. It never occurred to you that their are some certain factors that militates or stand as a barrier to study. It depend on the school u went to anyway. But if it was to be a very competitive school you will see challenges. From lecturers, to economic factors, to even family problems and health issues. Don't just judge people any how. I was suppose to finish as the over all best in my school, I had health issues that lingard for over a year and I made 2.1. So don't judge ppl you don't kW what happened. And can never be in their shoes. Cos it only a barren woman that can tell the story of childlessness.

I have been trying to apply for scholarships so i can do my Msc outside the country but I just realized my class of degree isn't really working in my favor. Well I made a good 2.2(3.32) in my first degree largely due to many reasons ranging from lack of motivation(i didn't study the course of my dream), some financial setbacks and the attitude of our lecturers towards the students. I opted for a Pgd sometime last year because I needed to switch to another discipline. By God's grace I have finished and I did very well; I made 12As and 2Bs of out the 14 courses I offered during the course of the program.

Recently, I started searching for scholarships so I can travel overseas for my masters degree but all the scholarships I am seeing place a 2.1 as a minimum Scholarship requirement for eligibility in obtaining such scholarships. for instance the common wealth scholarship, NLNG scholarship etc. I am wondering why this is so because i feel people who didn't make up to such class of degree should be given opportunity to further their education. I mean its not like its a do or die affair for everyone to make a first class or a 2.1. A 2.2 is also a result. To begin with some persons like me didn't end up with a 2.2 because they aren't intelligent but many factors beyond their control could have been responsible for that. I am really depressed. I think they should lift the bar and give everyone equal opportunity. We all can make a change despite our class of degree. Afterall the most motivated and talented people are not always the ones with first class and 2.1.

I believe I have what it takes intellectually to succeed in my chosen field of study if i am given the opportunity.
Apply for SISGP, CSC, but you go spend money sha for application fee but if you get the scholarship. It is fully-funded.

There are different categories of Chinese Government Scholarship Scheme. One of them is that Bilateral and there are other ones in which you apply through Chinese Scholarship Council official website as well as the universities in China under the CSC scholarship scheme.

You need to notarize your transcripts and certificates. And also send hard copies to those universities you applied to in China. Except few universities that do not request for such. However, many of these Chinese universities charge application fee ranging from 400RMB to 800RMB. Nevertheless, some of the universities do not request for such.

You can read more on the internet.

the lower the bar part made me laff...even if the bar is lowered..he will still compete with 2:1 and first class pple..unless he's saying he want a scholarship where they will ask for just 2:2 graduates...

Dear Op,

First, I will implore you to neglect negative comments from some posters here. Such comments are nothing and don't worth your time. Nevertheless, you can take their negative vibe as a source of motivation to achieve your desire.

With that being said, there is no rule that says you can't get foreign scholarship with a 2'2 degree. What you need is information, motivation and mentorship. Yes, mentorship! You need experience of people who have achieved such feat with your class of degree.

There is no need flogging on the issue of First Class or 2:1 here as you seem to have the know-how of some of the major scholarships on offer in Nigeria. But it will be useful if you can give some details on your course of study, and the state where you hail from. Who knows, you might be eligible for NDDC scholarship that is open to 2:2 graduates.

On the USA part, one of the earlier poster gave good information that would be useful to you. You need to ace GRE like nobody's business. Your performance in it would cover for the shortfall in your CGPA. You might also look at Netherlands, Belgium and possibly Denmark. Mail faculty staff with research interest as yours and state your desire to work with them and that you would want to be considered for funding. You never can tell how it will turn out.

I wish you success in this pursuit. Cheers.

You must understand that this is a capitalist world, my friend. While I believe that you can succeed intellectually with your 2.2 - numerous professors and academics started with 2.2 -capitalism does not quantify emotions or feelings. There is always a standard benchmark and, where the applications are high, the standards are made even higher, from which numbers will be pruned.

Young people do not realise this until it is too late.

There are scholarships which 2.2's can apply for, put these are very few and far between. If indeed your academic strength has increased, I will suggest that you look towards publishing in your field, a journal paper. You should seek help with friends who are academics and publish in a medium to high impact factor paper. Once this is done and published, you can attach this to any application for a Masters in Research (MRes) program. Your application is certainly likely to be considered. It is a long way to the point where you want to get to, but it is possible and more achievable than applying for scholarship programmes where 2.1/1st class is the minimum requirement. Again, capitalism has no feelings.

Best of luck.

Not all scholarships specify 2:1 and 1st class. PTDF scholarship is open to 2,2 students with experience,
you just have to have an extra edge like awards and publications, although they're done with registration for this year, you can try that of next year, probably around December

Lol, guy, it does not work as you see it. We inspect transcripts!!

If someone gets a first by acing the trivial courses, for example, and another person gets a 4.4 2:1 by blasting the more difficult courses, the latter gets an advantage.

Grad schools do not just look at the GPA, we look courses too. In PhD economics, someone who did measure theory, real analysis, probability theory at the MATH department is higher, in our eyes, than someone who did some "mathematics for economist" at the ECON department in Nigeria and was scoring 100%

Lol, guy, it doesn't work as you put it. There's no course in Nigerian universities and in diaspora that's called "measure theory". Real analysis specifically isn't for economics students any where in the world but for students studying mathematics or statistics at the undergraduate level. Furthermore, your submission for PhD admission in economics holds no water in Nigeria specifically. The reason is that no Nigerian University accepts MSc from a field other than economics into her PhD. And in PhD admission for economics, emphasis is majorly placed on micro economics, macro economics, and econometrics in the event of where the applicant attains either 60% weighted average or 4.0 on a 5.0 scale in MSc
