For some people, it's not that easy to take their lives even when someone wants to murder them. To me the beheading was a swift death anyway. As for taking down one of Dany's dragons, I wonder why they would fly so high above and not see ships laying in ambush. Finally Jon still knows nothing. If he finally ends up in the Iron throne, it would be accidental, and not of his own making.
