It's simple labour economics once supply exceeds demand salary will crash lol joblessness among medical doctors is now a reality Doctors should go into tailoring or farming - prof isaac minister of health. Sometimes, I wonder why our parents had to invest so much in our classroom education. If the whole money spent was used in sending me to a mechanic garage in USA or Canada to learn, I will own the best mechanic workshop in Nigeria while employing Mechanical Engineering graduates as my apprentice! 40k for a medical Doctor? If only these people who spend 10 plus yrs in school understand how this world works, you will learn to work for yourself. How can someone live on 40k a month, with all that stress as a doctor and yrs in school? It's better to be a laborer nah, the ones I know make over 150k a month. Those tiny 10ft by 10ft Igbo business shops you see in the market you think are nothing, have over 20-30 million/yr in turnover, with excess 40-50% profit margin. I'm speaking as a fmr. banker because I know how much they deposit and collateral assets they put up for lines and loans; I personally underwrite these loans, visit their shops and warehouse to valuate these assets. After 5 yrs of seeing this as a banker and earning chicken change working 15 hrs a day like a slave, I sat down with one of these Igbo businessmen, he linked me up big time with big supplier clients he has in South Korea. Alright. Was is it not on this forum I was telling one bloody lair who claimed to be a fresh graduate claiming he his receiving 400k a monthly salary as a young doctor and he is seeking advise either to go for his Master or to keep working? And I said to him I'm a employer And I know a bit about salary scale out there in Nigeria market I told him I'm a bit sceptical about his claim as a young gradyate getting 400k monthly wages it sound strange somehow as of Nigeria today but he kept insisting and and I let go but I was waiting for day like this so Mr 400k fake doctor I need you back here right now I know you will read my post so I need you back here. 10 Likes 1 Share |

its law of demand and supply coming in play. I laugh out a lot when I attend inductions of medical graduate, that those (clownish) council members will saying we don't have sufficient health care workers. Base on facilities on ground , I will say we partially have sufficient health workers. All states have just a FMC/teaching hospital. And there is a limit to number of staff they can accommodate. The government should build more facilities to accommodate new health graduate, allow health services available to every one, and lessen the burdens of existing ones. ( All these i know is impossible). And with the inception of medical schools by private university, come next 10 years , medics will be as undervalued as teachers. 3 Likes 1 Share |

mrphysics: Lol. No doubt they are fresh doctors. You never hear of lawyers collecting 15k. They collect this amount for the first 1-3 yrs after graduation. Just few of them are lucky to get opportunities in nice places paying good amount. |
