I think the Superfalcons tried a bit playing without Asisat Oshoala and Fransisca Ordega upfront...

with this two there would have been a different story due to their experience, energy and pace...
Uchenna Kanu seems to be on top form... starting 2games already..

asisat will fire up in World cup.... with all these analysis, I arrived on the verdict super falcon is on a good football development.

Good one NFF..

WAFU Cup: 10 Home based Super Falcons Players Will Make Pre-World Cup Squad, Says Dennerby

By Niyi Busari

Super Falcons head coach, Thomas Dennerby has said that his target at the WAFU Cup slated for Ivory Coast is to put the home based players in good shape so that he will be able to pick at least 7 or at most 10 players for the final camp ahead world cup in France, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Dennerby who made this statement on Sunday at the Area 3 Play Ground during the 2019 FCT FA Cup finals added that winning the title in Cote d’Ivoire is not the main target at the competition but to fix the home based players ahead of the world cup in France.

The former Sweden women national team coach stated that 26 players are already in camp.

“26 players resumed camp on Sunday and the target for the WAFU is first of all and the most important is to really secure that domestic players are in good form for the final camp because you know that 7 to 10 players among the home based will be going into camp for the fiance preparation for the world cup. Although, winning the WAFU will be a plus for the team.” He told www.bsnsports.com.ng

He admitted that FCT is blessed with good and talented omen footballers but says it is very difficult and unfair to invite players to the national camp based one match.

“Honestly, to pick a player for the national team when you see them once is not fair because it is a final and when you play final. Player can have good performance and sometimes player can be nervous and perform below expectation. So, you need to see a player play mire than one time to conclude on whether to be invited to the national team. But of course there were a lot of good players here today who are good enough to be in the national team.

Some other countries had foreign based players in the 2018 edition. Remember that Portia Boakye was the highest goal scorer in that edition.

No I think you are mixing it up with CHAN. Any player can play the WAFU as long as your club releases you.

Asisat Oshoala's interview in El Pais (one of Spain's biggest newspapers). The interview was published in Spanish and translated by Google Translate.

CHAMPIONS FEMALE

Asisat Oshoala: "It's very difficult for an African girl to be a footballer"

The Nigerian tells her problems before playing in a Barça that this Sunday struggles with Bayern for the final of the Champions

JUAN I. IRIGOYEN
Barcelona 28 APR 2019 - 17:37 CEST

Summers are no longer the same for Asisat Oshoala (Lagos, Nigeria, 24 years). The rest of the Barcelona player, best African footballer in 2014, 2016 and 2017, is in the background when she organizes a campus for girls in her home state. It does not bother him, on the contrary. "When I was a child my mother did not give me money for food if I was going to play football. We are in 2019 and there are still parents who do the same. In the campus that I organize with my foundation I try to talk with the girls, but especially with the parents, "he says. There are no words more magical than his history. "I explain to you how important sport is for girls. From my example, I show you that you can play football and go to school at the same time. That you can play football and be a woman. It is possible, there is no more secret than respect and equality ".

-What was more difficult, being a woman, an African or a soccer player?

"The road to become a footballer, for an African player, is very difficult. In my continent, people think that football is a thing of men. I suppose the same thing will happen in other places, but I have the feeling that in Africa it is worse, "says Oshoala. There are still walls to climb between sport and women, especially far from Europe. "They try to convince you that women can not play sports. After school you have to get married and have children. That's your job, "he explains. And remember a childhood friend. "We both played football together at school. Now he is studying ADE or something like that. Sometimes we talk on the phone. Think I was stronger. I do not think so. It seems to me that I was lucky that she could not have. "

Raised in a polygamous family, she discovered football through her older brother. "My father has two women, one of them my mother. We all lived together, but each woman has her own space separately. I was always with my brothers and sisters. And football played with the eldest. But he did not care much. In life, in the end, everything is a matter of passion. For him it was entertainment; for me, on the other hand, it was everything, "explains Oshoala. He was educated in a private school in his city, Ikorudu. However, as in his school football was a matter exclusively for the boys, once he finished his school schedule crossed directly opposite: in the public school there was a female team. "But the level was not very good", says, laughing, the Barça forward.

One day everything changed for Oshoala, as if he had discovered a new world. The difference. "One day I was with my group of friends practicing athletics and I found a competitive women's team. I was impressed. They played in the state league. I think it was one of the happiest times I put on. I knew I was not alone, "he recalls. He did a test. The coach, immediately, asked for the phone. Not everything was so simple. "He started calling me for tournaments, but at the beginning, my parents did not support me. They wanted me to study. " The solution, a pact between parents and daughter. "When I finished school, I asked them to give me a couple of years. If I was not good at it, I would study law. " He went from FC Robo of his state to Rivers Angels, one of the strongest teams in Nigeria, until the selection sub 20 put it in the world showcase. After winning the Boot and the Golden Ball at the 2014 World Cup in Canada, he jumped into Liverpool.

The Champions

A year in the Reds, another in Arsenal and jumped to Chinese football. He called it Barcelona. "For any player, when they call you Barça, it's special. You have top players. And you play the Champions, "he says. And, precisely, that's why he signed the Barça squad, to strengthen the team of Lluís Cortés in the final stretch of the campaign. Five goals in four games, but he was injured against Atlético. He returned in the first leg against Bayern. Just for a while This Sunday he hopes to play from the start in the Miniestadi (12.00) to sign the 0-1 in Munich and achieve what has never been seen in Spanish football: get into the final of the Champions. "Barça is not like any other team, here you have to be very sensitive and ready. The style is different. The important thing is to understand what you are doing, "he says.

He seeks to make history with Barça, also to fulfill the promise he made to his parents. "Today they understand what I do. But when I retire, I would like to study law. I like to ask questions. " As a child she questioned, as a teenager she rebelled; Now, inspire. "It's not any pressure. It's about being yourself and accepting that responsibility. " Now you can eat after playing soccer. She remembers it with grace. "I went to sleep hungry, but happy. Look where I am today. "

WAFU is a very good test for the incoming newbies. Lets see how hard their bones are when playing against tough Ivoriens or other West African local league champs.

Falcons will suffer no mental block at World Cup – Dennerby

Head Coach of the Super Falcons, Thomas Dennerby has assured that the African champions will not suffer any mental block when confronting European opposition at the FIFA World Cup finals in France.
Speaking during a press conference preceding the WAFU Women’s Tournament starting in Abidjan next week, Dennerby said he believes the Super Falcons have now gained enough confidence to stand their ground against European, American and Asian opposition any time the need arises.
“The team now has confidence to play against any team, whichever continent they come from. That is the benefit of the several training camps and friendly tournaments we have had this year. I definitely don’t think that it’s some kind of mental block when we lost to Canada in Spain. We know the reason why we lost the game and the biggest lessons are not to do tactics that the team have not practiced in training, and also to stop playing only when the referee’s whistle goes for the end of the game.
“The WAFU tournament is very important for the domestic players as it will avail the team an opportunity to play five really good games. Honestly, the most important thing is not to win the tournament but to have good performances and to have a good environment because some of them will participate in the final camping in Austria.”
Dennerby, who said he is excited at the numerous talents in the Nigeria Women Football League, said he has plans of taking some of the domestic players who perform well in Abidjan to the World Cup, noting that he cannot be exact on the number for now.
“It’s a little bit early to know the exact number, but definitely about eight or 10 domedtic players will make the team”.
Former team captain Evelyn Nwabuiko, while fielding questions from journalists, said the team has improved over the past few months. “Honestly, the team has really improved under Coach Dennerby because he is introducing a new formation for us. He wants us to play 3-5-2 formation and that has been our best formation for now.”
Also, veteran midfielder Osarenoma Igbinovia said Nigeria has the team and quality to stand up to any opposition in France. “We have a very good team. There’s a lot of competition among the players. I think we have the players to do it, so with determination and hardwork, we are good to go”.

3-5-2 formation....who will the coaches then sacrifice from not starting among the 3top forwards
Desire Oparanozie
Asisat Oshoala
Fransisa Ordega

playing Oshoala or Ordega as a wing back will always be an unfavourable decision because they're our best options upfront...

3-5-2 can still accomodate our front 3. That 3-5-2 is usually more like a 3-2-4-1, with Oparanozie in front and Okobi, Oshoala, Ordega and maybe Ajibade behind her. It is a formation that offers good defensive stability, and when it clicks, it means we can overload the flanks.

Ordega and Oparanozie can be the two forwards, while Oshoala can play in the AM position (ala Lampard’s early Chelsea role). Oshoala has the pace and energy for the AM role.
Then the two central midfielders could be Chikwelu and Igbinovia

My line up for a 3-5-2 would be:

———————Nnadozie——————

—————-Ohale—Ebi——Ikidi———-

—Chukwunonye—Chikwelu-Igbinovia-Okobi-Ordega—

————————Oparanozie——Oshoala————

Currently watching a live match with Ngozi Okobi playing. She is playing more on the right side of the attack. She is not effective at all in that position and the match is in 2nd half now.
She's not tracking back, not creating chances and just not as impactful as she should be if we are to depend on her to create chances.

Any team outside Africa that scored less then 6 goals against the above lineup should be flogged. These are the epitome of tired legs. Nigeria must mix the tired legs with fresh legs to their presence felt.

As for this formation it won't be possible because, Thomas Dennerby cant take the risk of picking Nnadozie ahead of Oluehi and Jonathan...

Ikidi to remain in the middle because that's the position she plays for her club side and Thomas have been using her there....
Igbinovia can't start ahead of Ayinde who's our strongest and fastest midfielder...

I hope we unearth another decent defender in this tournament.. the over reliance on Ebi and Ohale is too much. Aside Ayinde and Chikwelu,it will be splendid if we can get another decent MF.
...and Adebisi Saheed? wtf is she a transgender ni ..Lolz

You're right about the aspect of Ebi and Ohale...this 2 need serious competition for spot...as for Ebi she's already on her way out but no solid replacement for her yet.
Let's see what Maryam Ibrahim has to offer at this WAFU CUP...

Adebisi Saheed is another quality attacking midfielder....she's typically a modern day no10 but she always flop at the Big stage...
she's not a Big stage player, Maybe lack of confidence could be her problem...2018 U20 should prove me right about her.
