all i read here are gross misinformation. U dont know anyone of them who faced bias and ran back do u? They visit. I visit too. Nigeria is sweet when u have ur visa and flight ticket ready.

2nd niggers are blacks...whether taken into slavery or not. We developed late and that affects us. That is why the poorest countries are black majority countries despite huge resources. Knowing where u come from means nothing. Most african americans live better lives and have better opportunities than the so called africans with roots living in africa. U say nigeria's problem is the people? Wat do u think i was talking about! Go to gabon and see beautiful country with beautiful people.

Even if oil remains relevant till next 1000 years the fact is that nigeria's reserve will finish in the next 30 years given current mining rate. Wat do u plan to depend on after? We are having our best years and we are not utilising it well. Our children will really curse us when they read that nigeria once had oil

India and china dont have high birth rate. They have high population...not the same thing.
We are growing faster than our economy...china and india economy are growing faster than their population and its even bad for china they had to stop their one child policy.

We are in deep poo bro...realising it is the 1st step to doing something radical to stop our problems getting worse

many of them do come back home after their education....they know that the opportunity they have in nigeria is far greater than what they have abroad

number 2..maybe you are a nigger but i am not..the word nigger came out of slavery and has nothing to do with Africans living in Africa. i will write again..nations are developed by the people..the gabon you talked about is not developed like nigeria only the tourist sector because that is the means of their revenue.. PEOPLE COLLECTIVELY DEVELOPED NATIONS..

you dont know anything about the mining rate in Nigeria and keep cooking up stories... Gas is still not explored in nigeria..we are still the number 1 oil producing country in africa ..when it comes to external reserve... the people on top steals the reserve..so it is up to the people below to fight them since they are the majority

high birth rates lead to the high population.

the reason why China stopped the one-child policies wasn't about the economy but about having a balance between male and female..the govt noticed that many families were aborting their female child because they prefer male child.

China has between 32 million and 36 million more males than would be expected naturally, and this has led to social problems. "Because of a traditional preference for baby boys over girls, the one-child policy is often cited as the cause of China's skewed sex ratio ... Even the government acknowledges the problem and has expressed concern about the tens of millions of young men who won't be able to find brides and may turn to kidnapping women, sex trafficking, other forms of crime or social unrest

SMH, enough said ..like said people learn from experience some aply too much of it and other apply less , my name will make grounds not i just in a white country but in my country its not a belief its a plan .

some month ago when i visited my aunty , she told me about her poultry and the lack of profits she was making, I wanted to help her so I went to the market , went online did some research and I told her to go get a loan cos she was ready to give the business her all so I told her to do all this.
*increase her poultry stock and employ more people.
*get someone who can help her deliver chickens to people via delivery service ,she had a pick up truck .
*design a business card and go to,restaurants, joints, eateries and supermarkets to offer them the services of supplying them already prepared ones .
* get a deep freezer to store , get a packaging pack to kill and store the birds .
*get a stand in the market to help her sell .
*get souvenirs which she could put in packages for customers .
*get little booklets where recipes of various menus can be added to her products as her souvenirs.

they were mere ideas but I am grateful she did take my advice serious ,poultry no be business poultry no be business my bro my aunty is planning on establishing a fish farm as we speak, her poultry is doing great.

Things are hard ,the economy is bad but that is not enough to stop me from making clean honest money ,even in war people still make money.

Nobody has said you can't make money in Nigeria, what they have said is the statement(If Dangote wants to be the richest man in the world, he can do it because of resources) is misguided.

The day your aunty decides to speak against her local government chairman is the day her Poultry farm is closed down and there's no idea you can think of to counter that.

Two years ago, a close relative was making close to 30M in revenue monthly, now if they make 10M they rejoice. What are the problems aside the recession? Infrastructure, the road to their warehouse is bad and they now spend double on monthly car repairs, in the guise of fixing the road, they dug gutters along the road so at a point, Trucks could not enter the warehouse so they had to hire more loaders which isn't cost effective.

If you apply for a Fintech license from CBN and a director is against you, your chances are slim to none of getting that license which means your Idea is dead on arrival.

The problem with starting a business in Africa is that you subject to the mood of people in power and to some people, its not worth the stress.

Business is all good in Nigeria until you have to deal with the Government.

There's a reason why an idea can be copyrighted and that's because you are not the only one with that special idea.

Not everyone understands , honestly if anyone gave me money for a visa to travel out right now I would invest it in a business immediately, developing countries are treasures of solid wealth all over the world , an a country like Nigeria is no exception sometimes I wonder why someone like aliko isn't climbing the Forbes list yearly , with his resources and the potentials in Africa if he wanted to become the worlds wealthiest man I believe that could happen, business entrepreneurs are changing the world one product at a time by God's grace I am no exception, I can't spend five years in the school and end up shouting no jobs ,I dont need a salary when I have a business plan.

Bro, not to talk bad but do you realize that right now, a business you don’t have even the salary job you don’t have. All you have is PLAN. Yet, you are being selective of source of earning a living.

truth be told, internet users data is deceiving in nigeria but the market is there.. iroko were smart to go offline, these offline tactics are very common in emerging markets where offline market is bigger than online market, with time it changes....i read iroko profit and loss books.. they are making a loss just like any other startups because of investors money but Nigeria is their number 1 source of revenue

Population and Internet Data deceives in Nigeria. I know this because I have played in the tech startup scene for a while and the amount of road blocks on the way is terrifying.

PS: I am not saying you can't make money in Nigeria. My comment was to guy who thinks Dangote is slacking because he's not the richest man in the world.

Lol!...Plenty!...Here are some of them:

Endless Corruption

Little to no enforcement of paying Taxes

Endless Nepotism to achieve things

Ability to make fast money

The opportunities for self-centered people to enjoy amenities that an average Nigeria citizen can only dream of...and the list goes on.

I have a feeling you don't live here maybe because of your exaggeration, it's either this or you might be frustrated(no offense pls)

It's good for people to migrate, I wish they will, we need to reduce our population by more than half to have some breathing space, right now every where seems so crowded. It's time for people to migrate to other less populated climes cheesy

lol...am sure the children of ur ex governors are not even living in nigeria anymore. Dey there dey decieve una self. Nigeria don cast. I live abroad too and my guy...i aint relocating except to visit

200 million niggers of different culture and religion living within one small country barely bigger than texas...all dependent on oil. Wat happens in the next 30 years wen oil era is over? Na cattle we go depend on? And by then we would be 250 million.
Omo na die.

I dont want to be an alarmist but nigeria is a time bomb for so many reasons. African countries might develope in the next 40 yrs...but i dont think nigeria would anymore..honestly i dont see it...unless we restructure and control our birth rate by banning polygamy

Banning polygamy won't do anything.

Regulating the number of kids a family should have is the only solution.

There are people with 10 kids and they are not in a polygamous relationship.

I understand that individuals in govt can be a hindrance..that is why in Nigeria..you need to learn to kiss ass and sing praise songs, i promise you it will take you to many places

and about ideas being copyrighted..you cant copyright ideas but you can only protect your core application

if you think your ideas are special, truth be told..there are other people thinking about similar ideas somewhere...the only stuff that matters is execution.

Nigeria lack the basic necessities of life that is why many are leaving. Even if you make clean money here, you might not enjoy it because the system will would frustrate you

What if you have nowhere else to go? Won't you stick around and make it work? Change your mindset to avoid frustration

What is good about Nigeria is it the multitude of commuter queuing for hours for non existence brt buses. Only the selfish ,self centered would consider Nigeria a paradise

Then strive not to be amongst the people waiting for brt bus. If you travel out , you will still hustle. Hustle like mad!!! If you don't have the opportunity to do that, will then kill yourself? Change your mindset and live a better life. Nobody has it easy but we keep striving. One day Nigeria will be the land of our dreams.

Yes it's not a bed of roses any where but hardwork pays in saner societies. Providing safe society, energy, good drinking water, good roads and sound healthcare in Nigeria isn't a rocket science. Are those so hard to provide by those thieves in Abuja? Abeg, leave that sh1t hole if you can. undecided
If one have a good job in this country, its better the person stay here, why would i want to go to a place I will be rated a second class citizen and be suffering from severe racism, plus my kids growing up not knowing their root, end up marrying white men and women.

Just stumbled upon this thread. I'm a software developer also and I've been there too but truth be told, Nigeria isn't ready for tech startups.
I'd advise you not to waste your time, talent and effort waiting for people to invest in your idea; make moves first, get experience and work with people at both national and international level, it will help you a lot.

I hope you get to understand this very soon.

Lol are you aware that we have 36 States in Nigeria? and each one is unique with different living experiences? for example Lagos is chaotic but Osun, Nassarawa, Bauchi, Kwara and many others are not? commuters might spend hours on the road in Lagos but travel 1km in 20mins in some other state? what I'm trying to say is this, forget Lagos, living conditions in some states is cool, just explaining this because I know you don't live here grin

There will always be an alternative. Many Nigerians are not ready so why will I waste my time on them. Nigeria is a frustrated country with ruthless people they call politicians that do not care. Even if I try to make it work, the people are not ready hence they are comfortable with their suffering. No light, no portable drinking water,no good roads, poor health care delivery and poor education.

The problem with us to start with is that we are sincerely devoid of creativity and believability. We only see the wrong side of things. Business people who are millionaires and billionaires in US go to China to manufacture their designed products and bring it back to states to assemble
Most of us who have made some success abroad want to go back to Nigeria to become Senator, Rep or Governor. We don't want to think about investment opportunities with our newfound success.
