Thanks for your reply.

I am actually going to give birth.

i was thinking of staying max 3months. It will be difficult to start the renewal process of my passport now cos of the time those passport guys take.

What if i plan to return on the 18th of Jan just before the passport expires. Will that be fine?

You can get an expedited passport processed in 24-48hrs.

Pls guys,do you know wether not using a visa before it expires has any negative effects if one wants to renew again in these times that we're in now.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by mooreengineers: 9:31am On May 08, 2019
Not at all. You only need to tell them why you didn't use it when asked.

Thank you for the feedback

Can you please share the transcript

What city did you birth?
how much was the total bill?

Thank you.

didismyname:
Ok in the spirit of giving back. I will like to share my story. I recently renewed my visa.

2016 got a B1/B2 Visa for my family. We had our vacation June 2016 and stayed for a month. 2017, I got pregnant and I did the change of intent. Had my baby Dec 2017 and got back April 2018. Did dropbox Feb 2019 and I got the almighty 221G letter after 8days.

Scheduling a follow-up interview was tasking but by end of March I checked my status and the whole of April was available. I picked end of April to give me ample time to prepare for the interview. My hospital bill for birthing was about $9250 excluding lab. Got all my zero receipts and kept reading this thread on nairaland.
On the D-Day. I set out with all my documents even carried my LO blue passport as I saw on this thread with her BC. Infact I was more than ready, had my itemized bill, zero receipts, 6month payslips, statement of account, letter of introduction from my office...my people I even carried my recent promotion and recommendation letter
Guess what? absolute nothing was asked other than my receipts, itemized bill.
In my opinion, I think is the confidence that one exudes during interview goes a long way, be sincere and look them in the eye. Try not to stutter.
I mean everyone on my queue during my interview time was not given a visa, I was scared but I told myself that I will give my best smile and be as confident as I can.
Visa was granted.
Grateful to God.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by ibukunpops(f): 12:56pm On May 08, 2019
Get a good hospital/doctor with a high bill, because that seems to be what the embassy wants now.
Take proof of the funds, bank statement, etc
Get an appointment from the doctor with your itemised bill
Have your budget detailed out.
Go grab your visa smiley

All the best

tolupe1:

Good morning,
Please does anyone know how to get an affordable ticket?
I have been trying to book and everything is extremely expensive.
Please any help will be very appreciated.
Thanks
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by mooreengineers: 10:02am On May 09, 2019
It depends on your itinerary, I mean time of travel (peak or off peak holiday periods) . Also, if your travelling date is close, it will be expensive. Its advisable to book ahead like 60-90 days before your intended trip. You'll have affordable and cheap tickets then. However, you can check booking agencies and compare quotes then pick the one that you can afford.

I’ve been reading quora.com and posts from a recently retired us consular on there , she answers a few questions discretionarily and dvd has said it countless times that she hears people panic when they don’t use their visa and she’s even heard that you won’t get issued another , she went further to answer that not using your visa gives you extra points and it doesn’t matter at all if you didn’t use it

For those asking about change of intent. See one of the FAQs in an email from LagosNIV@state.gov

Q: I have changed my intent of travel and will now travel for medical treatment. What should I do?

A:  Before you travel to the United States for medical treatment, including childbirth, you must make the appropriate preparations.  This includes an appointment with a healthcare provider, detailed information about where you will receive your medical services, and an estimate of the financial costs.  If your plans change, we request that you return to the consulate with this documentation to discuss your change in travel plans. Immigration officials will ask for this information upon your arrival.  Healthcare in the United States is expensive.  You are expected to pay all costs associated with the medical services received - including housing, transportation and meals without using any public funds.  You should retain an itemized statement of account from your healthcare provider and the hospital that details all of the charges from your care and all receipts of your payments for all services provide  In particular, costs associated with childbirth are high and can escalate quickly if there are complications.

I really think it depends on the mood of the consular officers, they are human n d stress of the work sometimes affect their actions.
I was denied a US visa because I did not use it, i in fact, in his words “why would you have a US visa and not use it”...
however I do believe not using a visa does not necessarily mean an automatic denial.
