^^^Let me quickly make one important correction though. The first Black female mayor of a London borough was Lydia Simmons (Slough) - 1984.
Also, while at it, I should point out that the first female mayor of Nigerian ancestry was Erelu Lola Ayorinde (Wandsworth) - 1999.
