We live in a very trying and perilous times. A very dear friends undergraduate's 17yr old son got drowned at the Dome hotel pool in abuja last weekend. He was in the company of his friends. The friends didn't report to the hotel mgt what happened nor to the deceased's (Emmanuel Balogun) parents. They went back to the school (Uni Abuja) hostel immediately after the incident.

On Monday a young girl from uni abuja called the mother of the deceased that they did not see Emmanuel her son in class. She went further to tell the parents it's like something has happened to Emma and ended the call. The mother called back the line but it was switched off. She notified her husband & they immediately placed a call to their sons number and it was off. They drove that Monday night to their sons hostel but met his absence. They now got information that a party was thrown for fresh year students over the weekend at the Dome hotel in town. They set forth for the hotel.

The hotel mgt told them there was a case of drowning in their hotel over the when'd & directed them to the police. The police now led them to the mortuary, lo & behold it was their son.

Yesterday morning, myself & the deceased uncle went to the police to see the CCTV footage of what transpired at the hotel. What I saw and later heard yesterday was unbelievable. From the CCTV, we noticed the deceased entered the pool with 3 of his friends and around 3.33am he started struggling in the pool. His friends where all watching him until he stopped struggling and drowned. They all left the pool immediately and one took his handset the other took his trouser and brought out the money inside the pocket and wore his shoes. They left the hotel around 4.18am according to the footage we saw. The police went to the school & effected the arrest of the trio and mgt of the hotel. At the DIG's office yesterday afternoon, I heard something that has being giving me cold shivers all through yesterday and right now. One of the boys said that he wanted to raise an alarm to save the boy but the other two boys asked him not to. That the deceased is always doing shakara because his father his rich, he went further to say that the other one said all the girls are always admiring the deceased so he should let him be joor. This are just mere 17/18yr old boys. Watching the CCTV footage where the friends were watching him drown and collectively decided,cos there was a time they grouped together to discuss for about a minute & from the confession of one of them is not only traumatic for me but also disheartening. They watched their "Friend" die out of jealousy & envy. According to them, it was the deceased that paid 2k each gate fee for them and also bought fish and juice which they all drank. This are mere teenagers with that kind of heart. My people, be extra careful for people you call your friends.

According to the DIG, A lot of people are being murdered daily cos of envy from friends. No doubt, There are good and wonderful friends but also, know ye, there are also friend-enemy everywhere. So be extra careful and prayerful cos the love of many has really waxed cold. The young man was buried today amid tears according to the wishes of his parents but his wicked friends & hotel mgt are still in police custody at the force headquarters as we speak. May none of us bury any of our children or young ones in Jesus name. Amen. Beware of jealous & Envious friends they are more lethal and toxic than acid.

You might be right.
1. Prove the boys knew their friend couldn't swim.
2. That it was their initiative that they go to the swimming pool.
3. That there was a plot to let him drown (this would be hard, it will take turning one of them to testify against the rest)
4. They could have saved him but rather did nothing. (Proving this alone would get a conviction of manslaughter).
Get this four points with a good prosecution counsel and the boys just got themselves life imprisonment and the very least.

Why kill them, is there any law that says if u don't rescue some one that is drowning u go to jail, you can only charge them for stealing his phone that's all

That was also how a group of friends went to an animal sanctuary that has a lion, suddenly for no just reason, d others connived and threw one of their friends into d enclosure of a lion and they ran away. Luckily for d guy d lion had only just been fed and wasn't hungry. The loin only wrestled him and sat on him, while his cries attracted d sanctuary workers who saved him. Honestly itsbettter to b with outright enemies than some hypocrist of friends. As for me, I have since learnt to discard hypocrists as friends or whatever

Let me break this down to you, (1) they may not be as well off as the said Emmanuel parents, but we werent told their own parents social class.

(2) who told you no one made them that way? These are kids for crying out loud, not adults. They werent properly trained, full stop! Imagine not one of those kids could think back or make reference to any warnings and advices their parents may have given then, because they lacked it. They werent taught, they werent told... This is a very painful reality.

3) Just like I said at the end of my original comment that I am not oblivous to moms that stay home with kids that are still wayward, i'll explsin. There's still a difference in actuallly being productive and just merely being busy. You'll agree with me that some women stay home (unemployed) but arent physically or emotionally there! Thats a very busy mom and in my theory classified under the same group as the mothers mentioned aboved.

(4) Some children of Pastors are nasty cos their parents spend all their time at church, meetings, weekly this and that, chasing tithes, etc thereby neglecting their kids. Still classified under the mothers I explained above.

My reasoning isnt flawed, it just doesnt resonate with you and understandably because its an unpopular opinion.

My life is simple. I don't keep friends; male or female. I respect family. When people do the 'betray word' to me, I don't call it betray. They are not my friends! Only friends betray!
Peer pressure has really killed many young adults. We should be extra careful of the friends we keep: trust no one.

Actually there isn’t any such law. EVEN if you witnessed MURDER!! You have every right to stay quiet.

Let alone when it was a natural disaster such as drowning.

Not even can you charge a medical doctor for refusing to treat a patient while the patient was in critical condition. Even in spite of their Hippocratic oath, most doctors would insist on payment before treatment.

The only person gullible here is the hotel for not having life savers or divers nearby. But if the hotel can argue that there were safety rules which the boy flouted, then the hotel is covered.

Other than stealing his phone and money, the only other crime committed by the friends was that they did not report to the police what had happened. Which may not even be a crime because the only crime is the concealment of evidence or lying to law enforcement agencies which we are not told that the boys or the hotel did.

It's very risky letting your children associate with these children of the pauper when you've got money. Most are so full of hate and envy and that's why they are not progressing in life and it's their joy to turn your happiness to ashes.
