Hello Visa Officer,
I applied for my mum about few months ago for US visa . I am really worried about an issue right now. The issue is that I chose Consular office Abuja on the Ds 160 form as the chosen embassy. But by the time I got to the site to pick the interview date, I did not see a desired date in Abuja so I saw a good date in Lagos and I picked it forgotten that I have earlier chose abuja embassy in my ds 160 form. I called Lagos embassy and a lady picked and said my mum should go to where the appointment is booked which is Lagos. Sir, I am a worried that hope they will not turn her back because the appointment is not in Abuja embassy which is on ds 160. Another concern is hope this will not affect the outcome of her interview. I am concerned how this mistake can affect her.
Thank you for your earnest reply Sir.
Shawn

Hello visaofficer,
I currently live with my spouse in China. We filed a petition for an I-130, CR1 visa category last year while living in Abu Dhabi. I'm the beneficiary and she's the Petitioner. Our petiton was approved in March,2019. However, before approval we had contacted USCIS about a change of address. Fast forward to 4 weeks after approval, we received a mail from NVC providing us with a unique case & identification number. After logging in, i see that the location still reads Abu Dhabi. My questions are;
1. How do we change this address at the NVC?
2. Is a bank account and tax payment enough proof for domicile of the petitioner as stated on travel.state.gov?

Because we intend moving back to the US together and it states that the petitioner has to be able to proof domicile in the states and enter either before or concurrently with the immigrant.

At the stage of gathering documents and wouldn't want to be delayed at the NVC.

Thanks!

Hello Lolu01,

Hello ptdinner,

If the passport is unacceptable, you will be advised of that at the time of your interview. Without seeing your passport in person, it is impossible to say whether or not you will need a new one.

ptdinner:
Hello VO

Sorry to disturb again

The passport is clearly legible but faded .

I wouldn’t know the US immigration standards on on faded passport

My questions , is there any complications going for a new one now before the interview. Am just trying to avoid any long talk or questions on the passport

Hello frankele,

Please contact LagosIV@state.gov with the specifics of your case.

frankele:

Hello Visa officer
Good day and happy Easter

I sent an email to the US Consulate Lagos last week (April 9) requesting for an update on our case .. So I just received a reply from them (April 18) stating :

"According to our records, visa issuance is pending receipt of I-864A for the petitioner’s spouse. Please scan to us at LagosIV@state.gov with the case number as subject."

I don't understand what this statement means because we have previously submitted the I-864A form to them since March 26th at the GSS document collection ,which i have told u about before, and we sent them an email few days later (April 5th) to ask for an update on the case and they did reply us on The 12th of April saying:

"We have recieved ur I-864A form and Your International Passport and a consular officer would review it and you would be Contacted when they are done reviewing it"

...
So I am confused here as to why one email response is saying they have not recieved the document and the other email response says They have recieved the document .

I would appreciate it if you would explain what is happening?

And i would appreciate it if u give us any advice on the next step to take as the delay in our visa issuance is really causing so much stress and emotional breakdown to my Mum and Brothers...

I look forward to getting a reply from you .
Thank You .

Hello kcluv2men,

Please contact NVC to ensure that the address they have on record for you has been changed. Last year's tax returns showing that your spouse filed in that state should be sufficient to prove domicile. She may also want to bring a driver's license, utility bills or rental agreements, and other supporting documents.

Good day visa officer, I'll like to know if there's any other packaged envelope that's given to an immigrant visa aside from the stamped passport. My dad's immigrant visa was granted last month and he was given only his stamped. Now, my mum is saying he ought to be given an enveloped letter that he'll present to the immigration at the Poe. Please, how genuine is this and how do we go about it. He's due to travel to tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

Hello VO,
I am a LPR and i want to visit Nigeria to get married to my fiancee so i can begin the process of her joining me with our son. Now my question is this: I heard that it is only ikoyi registry marriage certificate that is recognized by the US consulate, how true is this? Thank you.

pls how can I schedule appointments for US interview for the first time?
Re: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer Pt. 2 by USMissionNGRA: 12:20pm On May 03, 2019
Hello dreypapi,

This is not true. Registry marriages, religious marriages, and traditional marriages are all acceptable for the purposes of immigration. You will be asked to provide proof of your marriage and relationship, so if you have a marriage certificate (issued by the government or by a religious authority), please bring that with you to your interview. Photographs of your ceremony and of you and your partner together throughout your relationship are also very helpful.

Hello VisaOfficer,

I want to bring your notice to what happened to our case..
We submit the requested I-864A along with our International Passport as requested by The Consulate Officer during our interview since on the 26th Of March..
Ever since then we didnt hear any update on our case only for us to receive email from the DHL office on 30th of april to come pick up our passport which we did on the 2nd Of May but we didnt see any visa in the passport..
We immediately sent email to the lagosIV@state.gov as to why they would be returning our passport Without visa inside... They now replied us by Saying, because they did not see the I-864A form we were asked to submit.

We are not happy with the way we were being treated by the US Embassy ...how will they claim they didnt receive d document we sent but they saw the passport?? It doesn't logical

We have submitted another I-864A form again along with the passport through the GSS document collection center and We also sent a scanned copy to the LagosIV@state.gov ...and we hope they dont misplace our documents again.. And our case should be treated as soon as possible .
Once again .. We are not Happy with the way our time was wasted for good 30 days. Thanks!

Hello VO,

It is very sad the way our case was handled by the immigrant unit of US Embassy.

We sent them international passports since March 26, the passports were delivered to the embassy on March 28. We sent several emails to them through the month of April asking if they have our passports. They refused to reply our emails, only for them to call us on phone on 30th April that they do not have our passports. The following day, DHL confirmed to us with signed proof that the embassy received the passports. We have informed embassy by email again using LagosIV@state.gov that the passports were delivered with name of the embassy employee who signed for the passports. Same silent treatment is what we are getting. They are not replying our emails. We tried to call on phone . We were turned down that we can not speak to the immigrant unit by phone, that we must send email, we have sent emails but they had refused to reply us.

@Ollyruffy
if i can chip in a Quick one from our experience before the consular officer gives you the authentic Advice:
When sending your mails to LagosIV@state.gov, do you use your case number as the Subject of the email?? If not.. Please do so!
And also try to call this number +23412278955...and inform them about what happened ... They will help u do an escalation (or whatever they call it) on your case ... Then u can receive Reply from them as soon as possible.. Or at least it can speed up the rate at which u would get a reply!

I hope that helps... By Gods Grace we would Get our Visa Soon!
Amen!
Have a nice week!

Helly Xyxyeric,

It's not possible to determine exactly what happened without more information. Did you email LagosIV@state.gov with the case number or name and date of birth? If so, please be patient and wait for a reply. You should hear back within a week. If you have not yet emailed the correct email address, please do so now.

Dear VO

I was recently denied a KI Visa because i didnt have d right divorce document from my previous marriage. Though I felt that the CO should have requested that I submit the document before issuing my visa, but God knows best

My Questions is:
1. Based on this circumstances, after getting the divorce decree, can I reapply for the KI Visa ?
Secondly, does DCF CR1 works in Nigeria. What is the difference between that and the normal CR1.

Thank you.

Hello VO,
We are still yet to get a reply from the embassy is over 8 working days now nothing. I also sent a follow up email too still no reply. We had to go ahead with our medicals and our results would be out by 3, June 2019. We even visited the embassy on 24,May 2019 to make enquires but we were told that we can’t make enquires that they would reply to our email. We are worried about the whole issue don’t know what is going on. If there’s a number to call to speak to them directly it would be helpful. Thank you
